  • Bought one - in stock at the local store so hopefully I get the collection notice soon.

    • Fingers crossed. If only goes through ok. Bargain +

  • Purchased 2 of them, hopefuly can pick them up tonight…:-)

  • Bought one too. Fingers crossed!

  • Purchased 2, hope they honour it. :)

    • Try using Internet Explorer

      • Doh, teach me for not reading the first line.
Firefox works (for the non-Windows people)

    • Yup… Starts off at $8 but then trys to charge $269…
Tried FF and IE. Both the same.

bought 300, is HN likely to hounor price errors?……………………….

                                                                            just joking

  • $270RRP
    Guess its another pricing error.

    • +1

Highly likely, but it may be possible that Phillips try to get as many as possible to the hands of user so in future they can buy the brush heads. Just like how the printers is so cheap but the ink cartridges are expensive.

      • Highly unlikely…
        Pricing error confirmed :-(

        Price now at RRP.

Ordered a $500+ phone for a few dollars from HN a while back… all orders cancelled.

Cancelled orders & refunds… another HN bargain.

  • Just bought 3.

  • Just bought two. Hopefully they go through with delivery :/

    • order cancelled :(

  • There might be a chance they honour it… unless someone goes ahead and Broden's the thing… or hundreds of us order them, lol

  • The family will have shiny teeth!

    Bought 4.

  • +1

    works with firefox too :)

  • If you think it's a pricing error, you shouldn't buy it.
    it's not nice

  • +2

Received a call from the Moorabin store: price error.Order is cancelled.

    • Will drop by the local HVN to check it later as well.

    • +5

Thanks for the heads up, I won't answer my phone :-)

Rock up at HN on the weekend asking to collect my order!

      • +4

I think you'll be "rocking up" for a disappointment :)
They'll just tell you the same, but in person.

  • +5

    Go ozb professionals!

  • I bought 2 just for the spare heads, didn't realise the RRP. Should have splurged for shipping.
There will be someone who orders as many as they can that makes it get noticed.

  • Was just looking to buy this! Hopefully they honour this!

  • Me and my workmates bought a few. Order confirmation went through still waiting for the pickup confirmation

  • Bought 2 using Chrome. Waiting for pickup notice at local HV

  • Price corrected to $269. That's a record right?

  • -8

They have to honor it right? Otherwise it would just be misleading advertising even if it was pricing error?

    • +1

That;s incorrect - stores make pricing errors and cancel orders all the time - see the Harvey Norman "professionals" fiasco from few years back.

      • -3

they do, but it doesn't mean it's legal.

        • +1

It's legal if it's a genuine mistake and not simply a "bait and switch" ploy - whether or not it is a ploy is another matter of course…

        • @inasero:
          Is it?
          From:
          https://www.lawanswers.com.au/blog/australian-consumer-law-r…

          Wrong price
Where all units of the same item have been priced incorrectly or are scanning incorrectly at the register, the seller does not have an obligation to honour that price. In these circumstances, the seller is within its rights to correct the error at the register by offering you the item at the correct price (provided this is done before your payment is accepted).

A seller can’t attempt to correct the error or claw back any money after they have processed your sale and accepted payment, as the transaction (and the contract) is deemed complete at this point.

        • That's correct, but they can (unfortunately) cancel a transaction is no money has been taken from the customer. Trust me, I've meen thru this whole rigmorale before with bloody Dick Smith.

        • @inasero: Yes but in my case they deducted the money from my Paypal a/c immediately.

That's the crux of my questioning the legality of the "it's a pricing error so we don't have to honour it" claim. Once the money have been accepted I was of the understanding that the contract has been complete.

        • Oh in that case, they're legally obliged to send you the item as they've entered into a contract! Hope you get your item, Dick Smith did the same to me even after deducting money.

    • Nope.

    • it used to be accepted when physical shops were the norm, that the price was an invitation to tender & they weren't compelled to sell you anything at any price. (advertised price is the one in the media, not in the shop). But when your offer was accepted & they took your money, that was the agreed & accepted price.

So it's not misleading advertising to have a price on the website & not accept your order. But I would like to see the legality tested of this "pricing error" excuse after the money has been accepted (in my case they've taken $8 from my paypal a/c). It's not like someone hacked their website & changed the site. And someone didn't just change the decimal point or something simple, it was a total price change. It was changed by authorised representatives of Harvey Norman, as such it should be process if they have stock available. They should be made accountable for decisions made.

Of ocurse HN spends more in advertising then me & pays a lot more tax then me, so what they should do & what they will/can do are two different things :-)

Doesnt work.. Comes up as $269 in cart

  • Bough 1 using Internet Explorer and paid via PayPal. Collection via store. Let's see what happens!

    • +1

just received the confirmation letter from Harveynorman. They are prcessing it. Hope it won't be cancelled.

      • +1

Yes, same here. Received the PayPal email, then received a HarveyNorman order confirmation email.
        *fingers-crossed :)

        • +1

Let us know, I've got the popcorn ready!

        • @fryandlaurie: Hehehehe, sure will do!

        • got the email from HN, it was cancelled as price error. Refund will be issued in two days.

      • Still waiting for confirmation letter from them.

  • +1

The professionals are at it again ;)

  • shows up as 269 in cart

  • Once added to cart reverts to $269. Pricing error

  • Still showing $8, but the it's $269.00 when you add it to your cart.

    • Same for me just now.

  • (profanity) i was about to checkout and the price got changed

  • $269 in cart :(

    page still shows $8 :( :( :(

  • Says $8 but when i add to cart it comes up as $269.

  • yup comes up in cart as 269 now T_T

  • They've obviously jumped all over it once they clicked there was a problem…..product page shows at $8, putting it in cart shows as $269.
    Phhht, flight of fantasy unfortunately

  • +1

I think the price changes just when I am placing the order.. Now I got charged $269. :(

    • The price changes once you add to the cart. Hopefully you can get the order cancelled given it is a pricing error from their end. Take a screenshot of the product page while the price is still $8 on the page.

      • I will try to get the order cancelled if they are not providing for $8

        • You are living in a dream world my friend. Your money is with them already. It will be a miracle if they fulfill the order for $8 and refund you the balance.

  • +2

    What is everyone expecting? 8-))

    • I was paid $5 by Oral-B for my current $100 electric brush (half price @Woolies less EDR 10% off offer, with $50 eftpos card sent).
Anything is possible, just this was very unlikely.

      • Same, how's yours going though?
Battery life on mine is doing a slow death and need another one.

It is the second one I have gone through, fortunately the first was under warranty still that died completely.

        • +1

          Hey treeman :-)
Was thinking of having some fun & modifying it like I did to the Target Bluetooth speaker ;-) (My username has changed)

Seriously, I was only thinking how impressed I am with the Professional Care 500. Still operating powerfully. My dentist is happy.

Only problem I've experienced was an earlier failed NiCd battery in cheaper Vitality model.

        • @Infidel:

I was looking it up how to change the battery. Looks like a lot of trouble to do…do you think it would be easy?

        • @treeman:
Opening unit & removing battery is a little difficult but there's online advice. Make sure not to damage seal so it will be water tight.

I removed the battery in the Vitality, and that's as far as I bothered going. Sourcing battery (online), waiting, soldering in… I waited for a good deal on a new brush & got paid for it instead of reviving a tired unit.

      • What deal did you find the 50 gift card and 50% off and also 10% off on?

        Sounds like an awesome score.

        • A long long time ago, lost in the mists of ancient deals in the land of OzBargain :-)

(Oral-B offer was to give $30 Cashback, but mailed out the $50 cards meant for much dearer models. Woolies had Oral-B 50% off sale, & some EDR Cards had offer of $10 off $50 spend that week. A perfect storm of stacked offers.)

        • @Infidel:
I'm waiting to see if you get two $8 electric tooth brushes now…..

        • @albanyson:
Ah, we can only dream about the day when Gerry allows us to get away with a $261 discount per $269 product :-)

    • Boy

  • Damn…missed out thought it was just the toothbrush head…wondered why everyone was saying wow must be a pricing error when surely the heads are not much more than $8.

Unlikely anybody will get it though.

  • +3

    I didn't waste my time.

  • I managed to jump in and paid via mastercard checkout and appeared to work fine.

I see the price is corrected now….

  • Great to see people still dream. Seriously though, pretty awesome if someone can persuade a HN store to give it to them for that price.

  • +1

Lol… they took down the page now :)

  • +3

Checkout showed $45 for 5, invoice shows $1350.95……

    • +6

      Uh oh spaghetti-os

    • The same for me, I'm down over $1000 due to this bait and switch.

  • +1

I believe HN have alerts when a moderate amount of traffic is directed from OzB & such sites, to check what's going on.

  • Just got an email, order is being reviewed instead of order confirmation. Looks like they are going to cancel the order now.

  • All seems to have gone well with me, charged at the correct amount in the bank and received confirmation at lower amount. We'll see…

  • haha.. page is offline now..

  • just spoke to "effat online chat" and this is what he said:

    Effat
I just have talk to my Supervisor, He said it was a pricing error and we can not sell with error pricing

if you can get it - awesome.

  • So what's the go? I ordered 2 and it went through as $16 when I confirmed in Paypal. Now it shows up as $538. Should I just contact them for a refund?

    • I bought 2 to be delivered, got confirmation email from HN and PayPal for $21.95….wonder if they will cancel it.

    • +1

If you confirmed $16 in paypal then thats all that will be paid. Sounds more like you didn't notice it said $538 in paypal.
Just contact the online store and tell them and I am sure they can cancel and refund your money.

      • Yes, always confirming payment amount is vital. My order for 2 was still $16 in PayPal.

HN Online do allow cancellation of orders by contacting them. I cancelled one yesterday.

        • As long as they only charge me the low price and if they honour it ill be happy. Else yeah no way I'm going ahead with it

  • Well they realised their error………..let us see what happens….anyone tried to get theirs yet

  • +1

my paypal still reflects as 24

Gerry trys this old trick every so often. It's cheap advertising and also gets people talking about Harvey Norman. Any publicity is good publicity in their eyes. Then he crys to the media outlets that he's been attacked by scammers.

    • Or "professionals"…lol!

    • -1

it was up for a few minutes and the only ones who found it are us.
