  • Would have been an awesome price if its the stainless steel one.

Code works on this one with a ss bracelet and it's cheaper - Orient Men's FER1W001B0 Brazen Analog Display Japanese Automatic Silver Watch USD$76.80 Delivered

      • Ahh yes thanks. It looks pretty good but that red minute on the dial makes it ugly to me. Would have looked much better if its just the black dial. Looking for a Blue Ray at this time.

Complete list here of watches that the code will work on and ship to Australia.

    Which day is VIE?

  • Very nice watch, good competition to the Seiko 007: http://www.amazon.com/Seiko-SKX007K-Divers-Automatic-Watch/d…

    • -1

No , because the watch you have linked to is over twice the price .

    • Visually yes. However the SKX007 is ISO rated for 200m, while the orient is "just" 200m WR.

      • +1

Are you going to swim at 200m below the surface?

        • +4

That's not how the water resistance works, have a look: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Water_Resistant_mark

200m is suitable more snorkling / skin diving
100m is suitable for snorkling only
50m is suitable just for a shower
anything less is just for splashes, minor rain

        • -1

@Odin: You're missing the point. Most watches with a high WR rating are for show. No one is really going to be swimming/swim diving at that water pressure. But good post for the uninitiated.

        • @zolinger: Ah, i'm pretty out of the loop. I actually would go diving with a dive watch

        • @Odin: If divings your job, its your job. but honestly for most of the population and me included, we're just desk divers :(

    79.97 USD delivered. Cheers Op

A good watch and competition for the famous Seiko SKX007, although less beautiful in my opinion. I personally find the pusher at 2 o'clock detracting from its looks and ugly. Strangely, and perhaps unnecessarily, the pusher operates the day of the week, not the numerical day of the month. This is an excellent price considering the relative weakness of the Australian dollar.

+1 for Orient. I have an SEL09004W and it's exceptional quality. Definitely a reputable brand and a great price for this watch.

  • I have an Orient Mako Pepsi Diver which I never take off. Love it .. :-) .. !! On sale now on Amazon also for US$110 with s/steel band (or US$90 with the NATO style rubber band), which is way less than I paid Long Island Watches a year ago….. These are of fine manufacture (in Japan, not China) and classic design, remarkable value at these prices.

  • +4

Throw a NATO strap on that for sure! I have a similar Orient and it's a solid watch

  • Have one, great watch

  • 'very strong lumes' … lumes?? .. 'Please explain' .. :-) .. !!

    • +3

Lume is a material which is painted onto the hands and hour marks usually to make them glow in the dark so you can read the watch at night.

      • OK, so now I'm ilLUMInated. Ta .. :-) .. !!

  • For the watch fans out there I just bought a Tissot PRC 200 for $280 AUD delivered.

This is $100 cheaper than anywhere I could find. They even go second hand for that (or more!).

Its the older model, which I prefer, and is very hard to get. There is apparently a lot of fakes going around of this model, which is a cause of concern.

I didn't post a deal because I'm not sure if its going to arrive, and if its going to be genuine, but any punters out there who are interested can find it here: http://watchdepots.com/tissot-t17158652-prc-200-black-stainl…

Update 24 nov 15: For anyone still following this - my watch did arrive. I can't confirm that its a fake, but the box was suitably poorly finished that I've decided to send it back for a refund to be safe. This is a risky item to buy so cheap as others have mentioned with the fakes getting around.

    • They have the newer model on the site for $400+ which leads me to believe they may have some old stock, bought when AUD was at parity, that they are looking to shift. Fingers crossed. I actually sold two years ago for $340 on ebay second hand and have missed it ever since :).

      • How do we know this isn't fake?

        • You don't.
When I get it i'm going to look for the signs, and pop the back open to take a look at the movement.

There's a whole thread on watchuseek on identifying fakes of this model.

        • +1

@aussiemillion: Cool keen to know if it's legit or not. Shop seems like it's reputable

        • I can't see seller Amazon.com selling fakes. It is officially Amazon itself selling the watch and they would be getting it from official distributors.

        • @hollykryten:

          This isnt amazon.

        • @joeno:

I just realised you peoples weren't talking about the watch in the thread topic but a watch from some other seller that probably just about no one here has even heard of before. My mistake.

        • @aussiemillion: Fakes can have teh same ETA movement so it's not going to help much.

    • +1

I've bought a couple pre-owned ones ranging between $300 - $350. $280 with the bracelet brand new is a steal! Never heard of Watchdepots before. They seem to be located in Sydney and you have the option of picking the item up. I'd be most worried about the authenticity of the watch. There are so many replicas out there of the PRC 200 it's not funny. Keep us updated.

      • Will do jack.

$280 does seem to good to be true.

The store may have got these thinking they were real themselves.

I thought I'd take the punt anyway, and return if its not genuine.

        • They have a few watches for 300. Are they also too good to be true?

    • Be very careful with this watch and check its authenticity. This watch is a very popular replica. The replica is also practically 1:1, it even has the same G10 Swiss quartz movement. There is a cheap and expensive version. Check on eBay and you will see many reps being sold as gen. Compare the date at 4 o'clock.

    • For anyone still following this - my watch did arrive.

I can't confirm that its a fake, but the box was suitably poorly finished that I've decided to send it back for a refund to be safe.

This is a risky item to buy so cheap as others have mentioned with the fakes getting around.

  • Wow that is an excellent price. I bought the blue ray a month ago for $240 delivered from longisland watch. Feels like a high quality and classy piece, haven't tried swimming with it yet though.

  • +1 for Orient.

  • Good deal OP, can't go wrong with Japanese auto movement and Orient is a class act.
Price makes this a great entry point

    • +3

It's nice, but doesn't ship to Aus.

      • Oh crap. That's a pity. Well.. it's the Ray then. :)

  • +1

Oh awesome, just bought this two weeks ago for $320 from amazon with shipping and everything. Why do I come to this website god dammit it!

In all seriousness though this is an awesome watch and I am super satisfied with it, I got the metal bracelet but it's only a cheap bracelet so your not really missing out there. I replaced it with a nice dark leather NATO strap and it works great. Even for the price I payed it's a pretty good deal, you don't get build quality this good with in-house movements at this price very often.

    • +3

Go on chat and ask for a refund of the difference. I have done this before with Amazon when I got my Neato vac.

  • Thanks for posting this deal, OP. Ordered the Seiko SKX009J a week ago and still waiting for it to arrive from Singapore. The Orient Ray is a direct competitor to the Seiko SKX007 and SKX009 and will be a nice diver to add to the collection. Both accept 22 mm straps which will make any strap collection more versatile.

On another note, I tried purchasing the Orient Blue Mako as well, but to no avail. Amazon does not appear to ship the Mako to Australia due to export restrictions, but you only find out when you try to pay for the item (i.e. Amazon lets you add the restricted item to your cart and proceed to check-out).

    • If you are logged in to your account it will say (This item does not ship to sydney, Australia. Please check other sellers who may ship internationally) a couple of lines below the price on the product page.

      • Thanks for point that out, Luke73. As far as I can see, only the Orient Ray the subject of OP's post is available for export. I just bought it. One can't go wrong at this price point.

        • +1

It's definitely the stand out bargain. Here is a list of other Orient watches that will ship to Aus & accept the coupon code.

  • Thanks OP, grabbed one as a low price replacement for my long departed (sold off) Omega Seamaster.

  • +2

    1 USD = 1.4357352025 AUD

haven't bought anything from overseas in a while
    this pains me

  • Expired now but the Mako with SS bracelet is still available with the code but not as good a deal -
Orient Men's CEM65001B "Black Mako" Automatic Dive Watch USD$122.98 Delivered
Around AUD$170.00, still cheaper than anywhere else I can find it.
