        should be the same, both are made by Hasbro, just that this is the new 2015 packaging, and they are more or less the same FX sabers made by Master Replicas back in 2005 (Hasbro brought the rights for these sabers after MR went broke)

        some reviews reckons it has newer/better sound effects compare to the older versions

      From what I can gather, the older ones had the removable blades. All the new ones are fixed.

        I think there are three series
        one with fixed blade and one with removable and another series based on the first with a fixed blade.

        Pretty sure these are fixed blade ones

        I think the removable blade ones are long gone. Not many of them anymore and everyone wants a fortune for them.

      I think you should investigate a little bit about custom manufacturers like Saberforge and Ultrasabers in the US. The price that these small manufacturers charge for one of their lightsabers is very consistent to what Hasbro is charging. Alternatively though, they are a "customised" shop so they sell designs that arent replicas of the Lucasarts films, and some of them can even cost up to $400 USD (custom lighting, RGB lighting systems, and Arduino based vocalizers).

      My point is that creating and crafting a lightsaber of this kind costs a lot of money in terms of machination, tooling, and demand…Ultrasabers and Saberforge isnt like a multi million dollar company, these are run by enthusiasts who love starwars, and want to provide people with a means to own their own novelty item.

    It seems to make a constant 'energised' noise which can't be switched off…so can't really display it lit up.

    Really love to get the luke skywalker removable blade one. So if anyone knows where we can get one of those cheap id be grateful.

      I have the Luke Skywalker Force FX removable blade. Got it from ThinkGeek during one of their sales as their shipping costs are a bit ridiculous.
