Are you serious? This wine is $18 RRP direct from the producer, so you've inflated the RRP by over 200%. Someone is telling porkies…

And for anyone interested in the Wine Companion tasting note…

Good depth and clarity to the colour; a well made, medium to full-bodied shiraz with blackberry and plum leading the way on the palate; it is well balanced, and will enjoy more time in the pasture before going to the table.

  • seems like a beefy mark up

So Jim/OP, you could make this a true bargain by offering it to OzBargain at the winery retail price of $18 delivered - and you could still make a profit.

I think you have misunderstood the deal.
    The price of $34.99 includes.

    The wine worth $18
The postage is to anywhere in Australia $14.95
The Igiftwine shipper and box worth $8
Gift wrapping in tissue paper and bow around the neck of the bottle. A Christmas card with the message is also included and attached to bottle with message printed inside. $5

I hope that clears up the misunderstanding .

The $18 price on the Coe&Co website is for just the wine - no delivery included.

    • I think you have misunderstood the deal.

I think you do not understand that "worth" does not always mean the price something should sell for, nor does it mean it is a bargain if offered for less than that supposed 'worth'.

      The wine worth $18

      Maybe, maybe not.

The postage is to anywhere in Australia $14.95

You need to make a better deal with a carrier.

The Igiftwine shipper and box worth $8

      Heh heh, so you claim.

Gift wrapping in tissue paper and bow around the neck of the bottle. A Christmas card with the message is also included and attached to bottle with message printed inside. $5

So, another "worth $5" claim is it?

I hope that clears up the misunderstanding . (? sic)

You appear to have forgotten the question mark? Anyway, there was no misunderstanding. I understand that you need to lower your costs, and that this is not a bargain at $35.

The $18 price on the Coe&Co website is for just the wine - no delivery included

Yes, I knew that - delivery on your website is about $12. Far too much I thought.

Could you please pass on the details of another carrier that can deliver alcohol with signature delivery to anywhere in Australiia for less than $14.95?

    • Could you please pass on the details of another carrier that can deliver alcohol with signature delivery to anywhere in Australiia for less than $14.95?

How about you do your own research?

Other suppliers of wine seem able to post real bargains here on OzBargain that include delivery. For example -
      Cracka Wines
      Dan Murphy's
      Wine Direct
      Wine Star
      OurCellar.com.au
      Cellarmasters

Some charge up to $9 for delivery.

Maybe you can start by asking them?

  • Are you able to let me know if that is for single bottles or multiples ? The problem is that it often costs the same to post 1 bottle as a case. Often there are then additional charges if you require delivery to remote areas.

  • Are you able to let me know if that is for single bottles or multiples ? The problem is that it often costs the same to post 1 bottle as a case. Often there are then additional charges if you require delivery to remote areas.

Again, DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH please.

I will offer one piece of free advice.

Post a deal/bargain for one bottle at a decent bargain price delivered. Even if you do not make a profit. Also post the bargain price for a box of 6 and/or 12 including delivery.

If the wine is good, those who purchased the single bottles will make repeat orders for boxes of 6/12.

OP, can I ask how much wine you've actually shifted on your site? I've just reviewed your offerings. Even with just a quick look at Dan Murphys as a comparison (I could probably find even cheaper prices if I could be bothered with some real detective work), Your prices are crazy, and it's hard to believe anyone would be tempted.

    for example:
Jim Barry Cover Drive is $56 igiftwine, and $19.10 on Dan Murphys
    Penfolds Bin 128 - $84 igiftwine / $28 Dan Murphys
    Jansz cuvee - $65 igiftwine / $20 Dan Murphys

Yes, I know your site includes:
Packaging (Shipper, Wine Box, Wrapped Bottle, Bow, Magnet)
Gift Card (Black or White Design) message printed on right hand side of the card
Standard Delivery (3-7days) option to upgrade to Express Delivery

…but heaps of sites provide free delivery, and who wants to pay an extra $56 (in the case of the Penfolds Bin 128), for a bit of giftwrapping, a message and a magnet.
