Activate the SIM card on Freedom Plus and receive 5GB bonus data to use within a month.

$10 credit is Standard Cap credit and can be used for calls and SMS only. It cannot be transferred via CM2U or spent on the Google Play store.

Don't forget cashrewards to get 5% off woolies egift card for custom amounts, with 1.5hr~2hr delivery time making this 8.55, cheaper than auspost + dse.
Don't know if there's any cheap way to unlock the phone though.
    Charger is 700ma, rubbish.
Phone is fairly crap as well. Just buy it for cheap data
Sim can be easily swapped at a telstra store, but you must activate the prepaid service first then bring the sim to a telstra store and present ID to get it swapped for a multifit sim

  • also sold at dse for same price.

    • But dse doesn't accept woolies egift vouchers (easily obtainable for 5% off)

      • but dse gives 2 AAA batteries as a gift.

        • I didn't get 2 AAAs from my purchase @DSE! grabs pitchfork

      • Others report DS do in recent DAB radio fiasco.

  • Telstra Cruise: 2G
    Vodafone Alcatel Onetouch: 3G
Telstra is going to get rid of 2G network in the end of 2016.

  • can the $10 credit be use for google play?

I bought this phone from Auspost 2 weeks ago purely to take advantage of the freedom plus prepaid deal (5gb data). I haven't even opened the phone and it's collecting dust in a cupboard. Sim on the other hand, works well with the recent telstra 4g mf90 WiFi modem deal for $24.50. Allows me access to telstra 4g speed with 5gb data allowance for 30 days. Excellent deal to get on if you need more data

Alternatively, you can also get the telstra 4gx buzz from the telstra store (currently on discount plus bonus monster DNA headphone) and chuck the sim (you'll need to have it exchanged for a micro sim as this cruise deal comes with standard) in for 4gx speed

    • Its a great deal. Posting on the $63.20 Buzz now on 4GX & got the bonus headphones that HN sell for $129. Also should get $10 cash back. Delivered free in 20 hours to Brisbane.

You could easily sell the headphones & make a profit on buying the phone. But think I'll keep both.

I'm using the phone as a fast data modem.

    • I bought 2 of them for data to use at Christmas time (my Optus slows down to being unusable during holidays).

Are you saying the SIM is 4G? If so I might look at buying a 4G modem instead of putting it in a 3G phone.

      Cheers.

I can confirm the telstra cruise/sim card I got from Auspost definitely works for 3g and 4g on my mf90. I don't think telstra limits sim cards to 3g/4g, limitation is always on the device you use it on. That is different from telstra mvno like telechoice.

  • if you just want the data better to get the prepaid off telstra with $10 cashback from cashrewards

      • Never happened to me in years of dealing with Telstra prepaid. You do need photo id to accept delivery.

        • @kyliet:
I have never heard of it as usual practice in years of writing about Telstra prepaid.

Some people report difficulties with id with purchases every time these offers come up. But that's not common. It seems to occur when multiple SIMs are ordered. Telstra can & does limit starter kit sales.

Just had a 4GX phone & SIM delivered yesterday, ordered at Telstra online. Delivery guy knows me but needed to enter my drivers license number (rather than even look at it).

        • @kyliet:

Never happened to me, only ever needed to show one form of ID and nothing else. Must have purchased 10 sims over time.

          @kyliet:

They'll take your money, but wont send you anything nor refund you.

They took my money Tuesday & delivered Wednesday. That has been my experience in quite a few purchases with Telstra Online. Never had to prove anything except id for delivery. Even got 2 refunds when I changed my mind with deliveries.

  • Anyone know of a working free method to unlock this phone? All the calculators keep spitting out 12 digits but this phone requires 16 digits to unlock :\

    • get bagman to unlock for $5.95, just asked him to do that for me yesterday..

      • So this bagman can unlock any locked phone? How does it work?

      • Goddamn, $5.95 to unlock a $9 phone!?

  • To anyone who's interested: Available working unlock on eBay for ~$4.54 (+Cashrewards for ebay)

    Worked on my Telstra Cruise.
    The model is ZTE T126
Cheaper than Bagman (after contacting him, he offered $5.50)
