Sidebar with Shortcuts for Faster Access

I was wondering whether the navigation of Ozbargain could perhaps be optimised somewhat.
I do not know how others access Ozbargain, but personally I most frequently visit:

  • New Deals
  • My comments
  • My posts
  • Messages

Each of these are nested inside a menu, which on a high-res touch device is at times rather annoying to get to (you have to click on the menu title, and if you do not click on the item inside the menu quickly, my phone navigates to the link of the menu title, not the sub-item).
I was wondering whether a side-bar (which might "responsively" become a bottom bar on a portrait mobile device) could be handy for navigating to such things. Perhaps only for logged-in users.

(BTW, excuse the title which states the obvious about shortcuts being for faster access - I had the meet the minimum title length)

Regarding this point you have, I've found a workaround in Chrome on my Android device is to hold down on the link (which will open up the browser menu asking if I want to open in a new tab, incognito tab, etc).

Once you click elsewhere to remove this menu, the navigation options will be there as though you hovered over them with a mouse on a regular computer.

PS: I'd like a shortcut to Mark all read

    • I am able to work around it, but it's annoying when you have fat fingers.
