      Cool story bro!

i found his comment useful, didnt really consider the fact that its not a big price difference.

Paying 30% more ain't my thing.

  • which one can use for PS4?

    • Seagate can, but seems to introduce texture popups in games like Witcher 3 :(

If I was to do it all over I'd go one of those SSD hybrid drives (albeit only 1TB)

The Seagate definitely can be used in a PS4, the Toshiba i don't think so but not 100% sure with this particular drive

      • +1

This Seagate is too big for the ps4, you need the Seagate 2Tb backup plus slim. I just bought it last week.

Depending if this items stays $99 until 6pm it would come down to $84 with the code EXTRA15.

(Coupon doesn't go live until 6pm)

    • +1

All ozbargainers should wait till 6pm then 😎

      • The code EXTRA15 did not work for me on this deal. Tried it after 6pm and it just said "Coupon code "EXTRA15" is not valid".

What is the origin of the "EXTRA15" code, as I did not know about this until mentioned here?

        • It was emailed to me but it is also on the homepage of dick smith. It is also saying invalid for me. :(

seagate is excluded, the toshiba works though!

    • Thanks, updated details for the Toshiba drive.

  • Surely HDDs are next in line for the clearance sales

  • I bought 3TB HDDs for 108$ 2 years ago. Bloody weak Aussie $. Is no good for us consumers.

That was a Desktop drive obviously, these are portables so your comparison isn't accurate.

      • yeah its not accurate, but having said that i do feel there is stagnation in the hard drive department. I bought a WD 500gb chunky my book back in 2007 and here we are in 2015 getting excited about 2tb's being the only sub $100 cheap hard drive purchase. Just seems like we should have 8gb+ portable 2.5'inchs by now. :/ big storage devices are out there but the price is ridiculous.

        • There is definitely stagnation in the HDD industry. Every major vendor has closed down their R&D… so they aren't investing in these products anymore. Obviously the writing is on the wall as SSD's get cheaper and cheaper, and demand for high capacity HDDs is still relatively low.

  • I paid 79 for my 2tb from office works over a year ago.

  • Are both able to be broken to extract the HDDs for laptop use?

Ah nevermind, zero stock in SE Suburbs VIC

    • ive got the seagate slim 2gb in my 2012 non retina macbook pro right now :D

Had to replace the sata cable 3 months back when i bough it though, its a oretty gentle cable in the ol macbook.

  • Doesn't seem to be much stock in Sydney for the Seagate. Liverpool is showing as being in stock, but nothing around the CBD and surrounds at all.

    • yeah goodluck finding stock

      • I didnt bother with the Toshiba, I'm betting it's a similar situation.

        • exactly the same :)

all out of stock in my area :(

Highpoint have stock in both 2tb for $99 and 1tb for $59. Not sure if that would help anyone.

    • Just got a 1.5TB Portable Seagate for $69. Then -$10 for Mates rates -10% for DickSmith Gift cards, works out to equivalent of $53.64.

      • How did u get mates rate?

        • Sign up in store when you spend over $50. Or just ask really nicely…

  • Thank you for posting this, I bought two of the Seagates - one to be pulled apart and installed in my PS4, and the other to be connected to an Xbox 360 as a game installation drive :)

    • I don't think that will work on the 360

  • +1

Out of stock in my area (Campbelltown, Liverpool, Bankstown [NSW])

  • which brand is better out of the two? and more reliable?

  • -1

I haven't seen a deal that breaks the price I got 2 years ago. 3 TB Western digital external drive for $99.

  • Can the Giftcards purchased at Coles with a 10% off discount be combined with this offer (or C&C in general)?

  • +1

Airport West, VIC appears to have stock of the Seagate 2TB.

  • Toshiba no stock around the western suburbs of melbourne

  • Was anyone really successful to buy this in VIC? This came nearly a month ago with same 'no stock available'

  • Out of stock all near me in country Vic

  • The Click & Collect might have Expired, but the units are still available for that price in store.
I just bought the Seagate 2TB portable for $99 40min ago in a regional store
