Jetstar Bali (DPS) Flash Sale 3 Dec: Travel Jan-Mar from $89 (PER, DRW) to $169 (SYD, MEL) One Way

60

Available for:
Darwin, Perth, Townsville, Cairns, Adelaide, Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne (Tullamarine)
Also available in Business Class for Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne (Tullamarine).

Most travel is from late Jan to mid March, with some from early May into June as well - as usual, no good for those tied to the school holiday cycle.
An idea those in Melbourne, wanting to get away for an Easter school holiday: one option might be to travel via SYD. NSW school holidays start Fri 8 April, so the SYD flights are available up to 5 April. Don't bother looking for a short Easter break flying out on Thu or Fri, then back on Mon - already minimum of $469 in economy.

As usual with Jetstar Starter fares, it is extra for baggage, payment by card, etc.

And correct me if I'm wrong but virgin flights come with food + check in baggage at no extra cost.

  • Just booked return flights for 5 adults + 1 child from Perth for early March for $1120 (carry on only) through this. Virgin flights weren't available for that period.

And just saw AirAsia have a sale covering the same period too- $89 each way.

I'd avoid if you want a competent pilot that doesn't fly the plane into the ocean.

Also avoid Jetstar or Virgin if you want to get home from your holidays. sometime close to when you plan to…

I had to fly AirAsia to get home otherwise would have been stuck in Bali for 14 extra days (I was already stuck for 11 days extra until I took Airasia)

        • I was also stuck there in early November. We managed to convince Virgin to put us on Singapore Air flights to Singapore and then to Australia, this was even whilst AirAsia weren't flying to Australia. Worth noting on the chance that someone else gets stuck there. Just make sure you have Skype as the hotels there charge ridiculous fees for dialling internationally.

@RockyRaccoon: they are not flying for your safety

        • @RockyRaccoon:

Cost me and my family over $5k to fly back on Singapore airlines. We were desperate!

Won't fly Virgin or Jetstar to Bali again.

@eXtremist: Nothing to do with safety. It ended up being logistics, AirAsia and other airlines could fly when the Ash lifted, using planes nearby. Jetstar and Virgin had to fly the planes from Australia, and 2 hours later the ash cloud shifted, so they had to return to Australia.

So Safety was being practised by all the airlines, Just the Australian airlines being based 5-6 hours away were logistically disadvantaged.

However as a passenger you have to realise that flying an Australian carrier, you are at greater timetable risk when the issue is in Bali vs one in Australia where the reverse would be true.
