    Dan Murphy's: $160 for 700ml

Yep, you're right, however anyone on here would go for free delivery plus $10 off, making it $150, plus 6% cashback, makes it $141 delivered (so for a 750ml bottle equivalent, you'd be looking at $151.07)

Yeah, we have our ways ;)

    • Thanks. 3rd time this rep has listed this 750ml Blue Label, Aldi must have sourced a huge shipment from somewhere and are now struggling/desperate to move stock.

        Single Malts -

        Glenmorangie Original 10 year old - $60

Really enjoyable and well balanced Scotch Whisky, non offensive in that it isn't overpowering with any of its flavours. A little peated (smokey) but with citrus, floral and slightly sweet qualities.
Recommended as a gift for first time single malt drinkers, the best selling Single Malt Scotch in Scotland which isn't an easy feat.

        Ardbeg 10 year old - $70

Floral, toffee and spice packed with a whole heap of peat (smokey).
Possibly the best and measuring stick of all Islay Scotch Whiskys.

Not recommended for those that don't enjoy a peated Whisky, not a safe bet by any stretch but very enjoyable and a must try in my opinion.

        Hakushu Distillers Reserve - $88

Crisp cucumber and melon, Oakey overtones, lightly smoked and slightly bitter citrus that lingers.

        Very enjoyable Japanese Whisky.

These are all a bit lower than your price range but represent in my opinion the best quality and value for money and covering as much flavours as possible.

        • haven't tried Hakushu Distillers Reserve but your right on the money with ur recomendations, pretty much my 2 favorites right there in the glenmorangie and ardbeg :D.
Will be getting a bottle of either one in the next couple of days, do you know where the best deals are for any of these?
          Thanks!

        • awesome, thank you so much for the suggestions! my brother is a big scotch/whisky fan so wanted to get him something nice for xmas.I was thinking of geting the Blue label since it's meant to be really "premium" but i keep seeing skeptics. will grab 2 of your suggestions for him to try… and the Hakushu for myself =)

        • @dontapoligize:

          Vote 1 for arberg

        • @Kbro:

The prices that I've listed are from Dan Murpheys and are generally around the cheapest although the Hakushu works out to be $72 with any other single malt at Vintage Cellars (buy 2 single malts and save 20%)

        • @rekabkram:

yeah thanks mate, i found that to be the best offer out there with the dan murphy's discount and cash rewards, ended up getting 2 x glenmoranige and 1 x ardbeg for $169 delivered! great bang for buck there!

      • The Sullivan's Cove and Lark distilleries produce wonderful whisky from Tasmania. Not the cheapest drinking by any means, but quite wonderful. If you can find it, the Sullivan's Cove double cask is a great starting whisky with pear and apple notes and a lovely soft finish.

    • Agree. Was given a bottle of this and was unimpressed. The flavour was sanitised, anonymous; I think Black Label is more interesting. It's not worth paying JW for more than Black Label.

  • Blue label is terrible value for money, not the best Johnnie Walker (Green is easily better at half the cost, platinum and even black label are better in my opinion).
I find it funny that rarity is mentioned in the description though given that blue label is so readily available at almost all decent liquor stores.

  • If you can get the Aldi 30 year old Glenn Orin for $99 I'd buy it. Very enjoyable drop with a dash of water.

    • 30 year old seems waaaay past its use by date
