It would be cool if we could watch the original Star Wars films in the cinema like it really was 1977!

$4.50 price does not include booking fee. You can probably avoid that by purchasing at the venue, but chances are that all seats will already booked, and you won't get a seat.

If you have to pay the booking fee, the price is good if you're going alone or with other adults or kids aged 13 and over: $5.70 per person at Dendy.

But if you're taking kids (2-12 years), Dendy is only slightly better pricing than Southbank (Brisbane) cinema. One adult and two kids = $17.10 at Dendy, $17.50 at Southbank for the 4:15pm and 7:15pm sessions on Sunday. Southbank is cheaper for other days on some sessions, e.g. for Thursday and Friday daytime sessions, cost drops to $16.40 including booking.

For three or more kids, Southbank would always be cheaper, once booking fees are included.

Free parking at both cinemas, for up to four hours, if you get your ticket validated at the cinema.

    Southbank cinema website is here:

Southbank also have 3D sessions too, looks to be $10 per adult + $6 per child + $1 fee per booking (not per person). That's on the screen that used to be the Imax screen. Bring some old 3D glasses or you'll pay $1 extra per set.

Looks like the pricing at Southbank also applies to the other Cineplex Cinemas in SE QLD too: Hawthorne, Balmoral, Victoria Point and Nerang. Not all have Star Wars this Sunday though.

No one has the new Star Wars this Sunday. It comes out on the 17th - happy to be proven wrong though…

You are correct, I did my pricing above for Thursday 17th/Friday 18th and Sunday 20th. I wasn't paying attention to the current date.

Makes the Dendy offer look a bit strange: "Prices like 1977 Star Wars, but you can't use them to see Star Wars".

  • Thanks OP. I don't feel back about seeing Mockingjay now at that price…

Now all they need to do is charge '1977 prices' at the snack bar.

  • Perfect, thanks for this!
