        • Thanks.

        • @f1ng3rs:

How did you manage to get it that cheap? Do you just call the store and see if they have any left? Or was it during that huge marked price off a few days back?

        • @Zaychri:

Looked at the receipt in the OP. Walked into DSE at 9am in the morning and they had one left on the shelf.

        • @fingers 3rs:

Same. Was really happy ss was in a Vodafone box but set it up and has no carrier branding and it's unlocked. Excellent bang for buck.

    • Could you send me a receipt of Mate 7 please?

  • +2

David Jones Dick Smith Parramatta hoarding all Note 4 stock.

One of the staff first said that all available are returned stock.
When I asked to see those (and decide whether it still good enough condition), other staff (the manager) change the reason and said all those are customer returned (to be repaired).
Dodgy as hell and pretty sure it's a lie…

    • -3

Mine wasn't returned stock if that helps, still in it's sealed plastic.

I bought it thinking I might on sell it, but I am soooo tempted to open it, it looks so shiny and new lol.

Currently I have a S5 Mini which doesn't look like it's going any further than KitKat which is annoying, but I really like the smaller screen size. Decisions decisions!

    • Thanks Saved me a trip to Parramatta

    • Geez, I thought only the economy-class Dick Smith staffs resort to stock holding, looks like the first-class DJ staffs also pulling the same low act.

  • Was first in at top ryde and all sim cards were sold out

    • Lol I saw you there wearing t-shirt and black thongs.

      • Must have the wrong guy. I had dark blue thongs loll

        • +1

There was another guy wearing t-shirt and thongs too, but you were the first to get at the counter to ask for the cards I think. My first confirmed OzB-in-the-wild spotting.

        • +3

          @babylon:

t-shirt and thongs. isnt that the ozbargain uniform?

    • Not possible. I bought a sim from Top Ryde just 10 mins back. I am still in the mall.

      • The guy told me that they didn't have any.

        • Yes, one guy told me that too since he seemed new. But then I checked with another and when he checked, there were five in stock. I bought one.

  • Canberra Centre DSE say stock MIA, "must be stock error"!!

  • Found a dick smith with a mate 7, guy rang it as full price?

  • +1

Nothing at Bankstown store. Probably the staff have taken them

  • +1

There were two Vodafone SIM card packagings at DSE Macarthur Square. The small ones manufactured in 2013 and the large ones in 2014. The control numbers of the 2013 stock were rejected by DSE's system and they wouldn't sell them to me.

I bought all 8 of the new stock. A staff took 10 of the old stock for a telephone order, and there were 4 old stock packs leftover. I don't know if these old stock will activate without DSE accepting the control numbers.

At the counter I found a stack of Family & Friends Weekend 10% discount flyers, took one and it worked on these clearance SIMs too.

  • +1

Did any1 actually buy the sims?

    • yeh i managed to.

      • When you activated it, how many calls and data it says you have?

        • +1

haven't done it, but with the previous $30 & $50 sims I bought a while ago that I've activated recently I get the prepaid plans that are available now. eg $50; infinite calls, 90 minutes international & 4GB data.

Found the ONLY LAST ONE in Melbourne… But it's on HOLD. IS that you???

    • +1

      Nah im sydney.
Burwood are being dodgy with the sims.
A guy walked in asked for them got them then the staff said they wont scan before getting to the counter. Have to be put on hold or some crap.
So yeah Burwood have them and are not selling.
I didnt bother after i saw that.

      • Sorry, I was talking about the Huawei Mate 7

      • Is this NSW Burwood or VIC Burwood?

        • "Nah im sydney." NSW

        • Nsw 2134

    • One last one is at Lilydale Dick Smith, went there to buy the Vodafone SIMS and staff confirmed they had one and it has being on hold for one local customer and one person next in line if that person didn't show up

  • No stock of simcard, S5 or Huawei at DSE Stores Bourke St Melb CBD. Damnnn…have I been dicked…again???

    • If you want s5 pm me and I let you know where to get before the hoarders take them all.

  • +1

I think it has to be the vf mate 7 not the unlocked one, probably obvious to some

  • Stupid question but what note 4 has to do with this deal. I could not understand from op.

  • Couldn't see any at nunawading store

  • There's a Mate 7 at Tuggeranong if anyone wants it

    • Could you buy it for me , I know it's a big favour

      • +1

Just went to get it from tuggeranong for EC but they sold it already :(

    • Get it and sell it on eBay man..
      Or: help EC

  • None in Adelaide cbd

  • Mate, with all these too-good and always-miss deals, OzBs congregate here to weep and counsel each other, LOL!

  • Group hug. Thanks got a sim :) $2 well spent

    • What do you get for $2? How many calls, text, intl calls and data?

      • Unlimited Text and Calls
        90 minutes International Calls
        3GB data + 2GB bonus this months.

        • Mine reads just $750 Cap credit and infinite standard text and 2GB data. But, the DS guy told me that it's an old packing and inclusions have changed to unlimited calls now. Was it the case with you too? If not, I might have to call customer case.

Does it ask for id proof when you activate it?

        • @virhlpool: mine read the $750 credit and 2GB on pack too but that's not what it gave me. It gave me what it says on the website. I'm using it right now.

All sims ask for ID when you activate.

      • SIM details
Type: $40 Prepaid Combo Starter Pack. Includes 3GB Data, Infinite standard national calls & TXT within Australia & 90 minutes calls to selected countries.

  • Got 2 in sim Cockburn DS, WA. 2 left.

  • What are the inclusions in $2 Vodafone starter kit?

  • Got the last s5 from Perth city store. They didn't have any note4 in stock.

  • There are few vf sim left @ glen Waverley, but limited to 2 per customer.

    • Good on them for making it fair

  • +2

Got the last VF sims from Perth CBD. Morley Galleria apparently have 5 Mate 7s, if anyone's interested.

    • in case anybody wanna board 950 bus to morley from the train station, please proceed to beaufort street 12132 stop.

    • Lol I want one!!

      • I'll probably go there in an hour or so. Will PM you if I manage to get one EC :)

        • Thanks

        • @easternculture: Gone. Been told by the staff there might be some at MOVE.

        • @efunovasky:
I KNEW IT!! They weren't picking up their phones either when I tried to reserve them.
BTW, the Perth CBD Store staffs were really helpful. The manager rung for me for like 15 minutes. Was a nice gesture.

    • The OZB race across Perth is on…will report back in 20

      • Yep gone and MOVE only has unlocked

        • What do you mean MOVE?

So there are no stock in WA at all?

        • @holyplai:

MOVE are Dick's "Fashtronics" arm. Same prices less bits and bobs more phones/tablets/sound, nicer looking store.

    • I went to the CBD store last night at ~8.30pm and asked how much they were. The guy told me $16 because that's what it said it on tag. I asked him to scan it and he reluctantly did it and it came up as $2.

There was ~10 left on the shelf when I left.

      • Yup. I was there first thing in the morning, trying to find my luck on Mate 7 then a guy bought 7 or something. I didn't want to buy one but bought the rest anyways, for the data.

  • +2

Couldnt find the huawei mate7 but picked up a 1TB portable HD seagate for $29 in Adelaide cbd dj ds. I think theres a few left. http://postimg.org/image/t3llb7ng5/

  • Did anyone buy any sims from Dick Smith Burwood(Sydney)?
If so post proof they are saying they are blocked from selling them.

  • Anyone?

    • I got two. They said limit of 2 per customer

  • Great deal. Just purchased 3 from DSE at Warringah Mall. 55 left is stock. They are not on display but in a drawer under the counter. I asked a sales assistant and he located them and sold them no problem. Scanned at $2 each.

Edit: thanks for posting the deal!

  • Mornington DSE said the deal 'wasn't true', showed me stock list listed as $40. :(

    • Tell em to scan it

    • Ask them to use the code. If you think it'll help, I'll upload my receipt for you.

    • Update: went to Frankston, gladly gave me one. 1 per customer, so should give a few a chance if your're in the area.

  • Thanks I got 3 sims at TTP DSE SA. Couple left however they weren't working on the pis or something.
I have never seen that packaging before, it s a cross between the old red square and the new rectangular one

    • Hey did ttp have the huawei

      • Nah don't think so

        • Thanks mate.

        • @Cronut: only had a glance through, worth a call (and if no ask them if any stores in SA have stock, they can check stock) :)

  • +13

True story. I was just at the Broadmeadows store in Vic. I asked one of the ladies if there was stock of the SIMs so I could report it back here. She went to where all the display handsets are and opened a cabinet. She came back with a few in her hand. I asked her how much they were and how many more she had. She said $2 and 'plenty'. I said thank you and started browsing the store - I have no need for them. A young guy standing behind me then told the lady he'd buy the lot. My ears pricked up. She said sorry, only 1 or 2 per customer. He went off his rocker! He said he had every right to buy as many as he wants! I really wanted to butt in but thought it best to shut up. He kept arguing the point but she stood firm, and good on her! He left with nothing. It's customers like this that give DSE employees a bad name - they take the lot then cry foul that there's never anything in stock. Greedy people with a take take take philosophy, never giving anything back to the community. Anyway, as of 1:30pm, there are still SIMs at this store, unless the guy sent family/friends back to buy the lot. Good luck :)

    • +1

Exactly. I guess a lot of people vent here about bad service of DS actually just bias. My experience with DS has been very good. Mostly the staffs are friendly and helpful. Now we are taking advantage of DS when the company is bleeding, please be fair to them at least, even if you don't feel grateful.

I definitely will continue to support DS over other overseas online sellers.

      • +1

Totally agree. I'm not defending DSE and its practises online, but go easy on the store staff. Most are just kids.

        • Im on my way to Northland now to take a look, should of went to Broadie

        • @zacsg1: Hi zacsg1. If you're after the SIMs, give the Broadmeadows store a call (03) 9916 6585. Tell them you're on your way, and if they can kindly hold one (or two) for you.

        • @tightarse:

Thanks but ill not have time to get over now, and Northland has zero stock for anyone wanting to know.

        • @zacsg1: Sunshine has no stock

    • During this sales period: haven't had any bad experiences.
Previously: very bad. However I haven't been back to that particular store.

Can't believe the behaviour of some people.
Yes it's frustrating if your store doesn't have that $2 99" smart robotic TV, but its not the sales persons fault.

      • my mum asked about getting "one of them robot TV's with the internet in them" think she should stick to her books.

    • Hang on what are you on about? I went first thing in the morning and the lady there said there was none in stock.

  • Picked up 2 SIMs from Karingal DSE, didn't seem to be a limit there either.

  • Anyone in Vic know of any mate 7s left at dicks. I tried to match at jb hi fi and they basically told me their price matching is discretionary and they won't do it.

    • Echuca still have 2 left, which were on hold for me. But I just called the store that I won't be picking up. Call the store and ask for Cameron.

  • lgacb08 - can i please ask where you saw the s5s at? Sorry I'm a new user so can't initiate a new msg. Please msg back.

    • Sunshin in the west had a few yesterday arvo when I left but not sure now.
