was in store today at jbhi highpoint next to the good guys and they had it for $799

      • Thank you for your tips. Better check price instore tomorrow.

      • I visited this store off the back of your post, and its $897 this morning. Kind of a good thing, as it stopped me from buying one.

Samsung Galaxy S7, rumoured to come in large sizes (more than 1 rumour now) - 5.2" and 5.8" (or 6") - so if you only got the note, for the big screen and not the S-Pen, might be worth waiting.
Could even be announced in late January…..
    Can't be much worse than a 32gb note 5 ..

    • Also with rumours of mSD card support as well :P

  • GoodGuys are selling their Note 5 for $1086 but they do beat the price by 120% in difference. Example: $1086 - $845 = $241x20% = $796.8. so if you buy online NOW and call them back tomorrow, they will pay you back the difference. Alternatively, head the good guys and ask for a price match.

  • Merged from Samsung Galaxy Note 5 Mobile Phone - 32GB Black - $845 @ Harvey Norman

    Special price ends 24/12

I won one of these recently and have been looking at prices to now how much to sell it for (if you are interested, see my forum post).

Anyway suprisingly Harvey Norman seem to have a very good deal which ends on Xmas eve.

The cheapest price on EBAY is $936 from Hong Kong based sellers.

    Allphones.com.au = $949
    JB Hifi = $897
Harvey Norman = $845 (promo ends 24/12) (can use $25 voucher for signing up to get it to $820 plus postage thanks Spackbace)
    Good Guys = $1074

      $764 for 64gb not long ago;

      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/225516

    • do you think Jb Hifi will price match this coz I got vouchers and want to use it up for this phone?

My experience with JB is mixed - find the right staff member in the right store and the answer is generally YES.

But find the wrong one and it is NO.

The fact both Officeworks and Harvey Norman have it for $845 helps…

      • They will and they should

There are a few ways to look at this. If you care about design, then the Note 5 is more elegant and more manageable than the 6S Plus. While Apple's phone doesn't scream beauty, the all-in-one aluminium has a more reassuring feel than the glass back and front on Samsung's phablet.

In the screen department it's a case of innovation with the Note 5, and reliability with the Full HD screen on the 6S Plus. Both are excellent screens, but if you really care about having the best place to watch video, you'll want a Note 5.

There's very little separating them for performance, and their cameras are some of the best in business for both image quality and ease of use. Where you will find some difference is in battery life. We'd be inclined to say the Note 5 has the ability to go a little further. And its quick-charging technology is one of the best in the business.

Therefore I do not believe the iPhone 6S Plus is "far superior" than the Note 5.

        • I am no Fanboi either way.

I do like the quick charging capability though - wish my IPADs had this.

        • DS is trolling i think.

@icyfreeze: I am always suspicious of long time members who have never posted a single deal…

        • Samsung uses Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0 even though they don't use a Qualcomm chip. Almost every Android and Windows phone uses the same fast charge chip. Nothing special or unique.

I thought that the only "spec" of iphone 6s+ that is superior to note 5 is price (it is higher so device is better). Correct me if I'm wrong.

        • Ya, the price is superior.

I think he was being sarcastic?

      • Don't take the bait, people!

      Officeworks has it for $845.

      • No stock.

        • Brisbane has stock.

          Regardless. Still a good deal.

    • HN has dropped the price to $845 as well now

    • I think the Nexus 6P through the Virgin deal at $744 is better value.

the Note5 in GOLD is beautiful

The note 5 is a very pretty device. great to hold and OH so quick…so much quicker than older flagships from samsung. But I can't handle the non-removable battery. It's not that I have 2 batteries, but I usually hold onto my phone for 3-4 years. I use my phone quite a lot for email and browsing so the battery dies pretty quickly and quick charge is very very useful. This means my battery dies quite quickly; hence I will simply buy a new battery and done, just like new.

For the more tech inclined, you can root the phone and flash different ROMS. there will be a note 6 and I am sure the note 3/4 will be able to get some of those features, thereby prolonging the life of the device.

But if I had the money…i'd get a note 5 as opposed to an edge+.

      • I can't handle the no memory expansion… I record video all the time and 32GB or even 64GB will get filled up really easily. I am holding onto my Note 4 only because of this.

    • PS. it's funny that the note edge is still pricier than the note 5…

      • haha.. Note Edge is better phone overall IMO.. :) I have had the Note Edge since it came out and refuse to touch the Note 5 given its backwards step of no expansion, no removable batteries, no IR, small memory sizes (only 32GB at the time), imitation iPhone looks etc).
