  • Looking at your eBay listing you have been selling these at this price since at least Nov 23rd - others are cheaper. Is this really a bargain? http://offer.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewBidsLogin&item…

    • Hi mate
Appreciate your comment, unfortunately we cannot post eBay links directly to Oz bargain otherwise we would have just done that.
I feel our price is quite competitive considering the product and market.
Stocks are limited and by Xmas out batch at the discounted rate from suppliers would be long gone and pricing will either go up or we will stop supply.

Also, edit: Throwing in a free full wall charger with any purchase through ozbargain

      Thanks

    • Most are fake samsung charger, I bought one for around 40 as well, it looks exactly the same but the led doesn't change state.

Note - doesn't include the wall charger (it is just the charging pad).

Will it be the Legit Samsung Fast Charger Wall or some generic brand?

      • That is very tempting. Is the wall charger genuine Samsung as well? If so, you have me sold!

  • +3

    Genuine wall charger guys

Management is in the Xmas spirit already

    • So we just need to use the code to get the wall charger?

      • Yep

Thanks Rep. You have a sale!

Hi rep, is it possible to get a free wall charger if buying from your ebay store? I've got an ebay voucher so would like to use it for the purchase. Thanks.

      • yes thats fine, please include on ebay a mention of ozbargain at checkout (the message to seller section) and the free charger so my dispatch team sends accordingly :)

          Thanks, ordered one.

Cool, ordered one via ebay with 3.3% cashback at Cashrewards. Cheers.

Great deal! I've always wanted one of these. I bought one just before they included the free charger. I emailed them to ask if they would also throw in the free charger for me and the store rep got back to me straight away as said yes. Thanks guys :-)

I have one of these and the charge is obviously isn't as fast as directly plugging it into your phone. The charge using the Samsung fast charger and the Samsung wireless is about 650 mah and the direct charge with usb is about 1100-1650 mah. If you do not put it correctly in a certain position, it does flash like Christmas lights because the charge isn't constant. What annoyed me is that the wireless charger didn't include the usb and wall charger, in which the seller has addressed. Kudos to the seller! In my opinion the Samsung wireless charger is gimmicky, but if you are a sucker like me for "new technology", the price of $45 with free shipping isn't bad.

    • Haha, technology - gotta love it ! ;)

  • How old is this wireless (Qi) charger? I can't see it anywhere on the official Samsung Australia website. The Samsung site has a widely different looking wireless charging pad for $59. Also, can someone post up the specs of the free wall charger (how many amps is the output)?

Link above to wireless pad - Fast Charger on Samsung AU site.

The wall charger is the samsung original, 2A charger.

      Thanks

      • Just to be 100% clear, so the included adapter is not a fast charger? You seem to be avoiding those words.

        • I am not avoiding those words, the wall charger is a samsung 2 amp charger which is considered a fast wall charger, however it is not AS fast as the new samsung rapid chargers.
          Thanks

        • +1

@etronicsworld: I just received the fast charging pad and wall adapter, and can confirm that the wall adapter is not the fast adaptive charger. While I realize that inclusion of the fast adaptive wall charger would have been too good to be true, it does mean that with the included wall adapter the wireless fast charge does NOT fast charge wirelessly. I tested with the wall adapter that came with my phone (it says 'fast wireless charging' when connected) and with the included wall adapter ('wireless charging').

Also, for some reason at 100% the fast wireless charger stays solid blue, it does not change to green (tried it both with the phone on and off) - any ideas, rep?

        • @thrynny:

Thank you. That's exactly the question I was trying to answer. So in reality, using the rep's words, you get a 'not as fast' charger and if you want to take advantage of the pad's capabilities, you still need either your original fast adaptive charger or buy another one.

        • @bigrizz: Bingo.

    • The wireless charger was introduced together with the Note 5 and the S6 edge plus, so maybe 4-5 months ago.

Where do i enter the promo code? is it at after payment information?
edit: nevermind, found it, clicked checkout straight away without going to cart.

  • Does this work with the S6 Edge or only with the Edge+?

    • both :)

  • I couldn't work out where to put the promo code when I pay via PayPal

    Please advise

    • its on the left hand side of the shopping cart (once you add the product click go to cart)

  • Is there any way to confirm if the wall chargers are genuine or not? My feel is that they are not (I received two today):
    1) The print is a lot lighter when compared to the charger that came out of the packet with my Samsung phone.
    2) The 'G' in the Samsung logo on the compliance text looks noticeably wonky to me.
    3) The decimal point in the output voltage is essentially missing so it reads 50V not 5.0V (it is possibly printed touching the 5 so maybe it is just terrible alignment but same point stands).
    4) The '-' between 50 and 60 Hz is missing.
    5) The charger 'feels' light and when tapping it there is a 'hollow' feel and a 'twang' sound. The genuine sounds solid.
    6) The 240V prongs are very much softer and more flexible than on my genuine.
    7) No retail packaging.
    8) One has plastic moulding 'bits' stuck in the USB port.

I found this ebay listing which also claims to be genuine and appears to be the same model and in my opinion you can clearly see the decimal in 5.0V, the '-' between 50 and 60Hz and the Samsung 'G' looks normal.

I guess none of the above is definitive (although the 5.0V / 50V seems to be pretty significant), anyone else have any suggestions? Does someone have a high quality photo of a '100% known genuine' charger of the same model (the one I got with my phone is the fast charger so has differences anyway). I've taken some hi res side-by-side photos but please note that there will be some differences anyway because they are different models.

    • Hi Perkinma,
Thanks for the post and showing your concern.
Our chargers are sourced locally from a Sydney bases authorized distributor and bought in bulk packing (no retail packing as we predominantly sell products online and it increases our shipping and warehousing costs.
We do not intend to sell copies and our buying source is very well known in Australia and we do not believe they would supply us with something non original.
I believe different phones have different charger sets and this may / may not be the same as what is pulled out of your phone box, possible from an older style device such as the s3 or s4.

If you do have any issues please PM and I will assist.
      Thanks

      • Hi Rep,
I noticed all of the above when compared to my charger that came with My Galaxy S4 Mini back in the days. I also noticed four more issues

1)Your charger seems like a toy as when I shake it, it gives me noise as if something loose is packed inside, Both Samsung Chargers I have, do not do that.
        2) Your charger is significantly lighter than the other two I have in weight
        3) Metal connector on the cable in your charger doesn't have tiny rectangular vents on the side of the USB sign that both of my Samsung Chargers do.
        4) Metal pins on the charger itself look different too. On Samsung Chargers, they have little thinned tips where as your charger has no such thinning.

All of the above makes me think that what you are marketing as an original Samsung Charger is actually not. I hope to have this replaced by a genuine charger soon.

    • Sounds fake as.
There is no way Samsung would screw up critical details in the electrical information panel. I looked at your photos in comparison to others. It says 50v not 5.0v. There is no way.
Take in in to a Samsung phone retailer to check - they would be familiar with all the variants. You could possible weigh it and compare if you find the exact model.
If you have a mate with an oscilloscope, he could hook it up and have a look.
Most of the knock-offs are very noisy with lots of ugly spikes and show voltage drift under load.
It sounds like your common sense is telling you something. It would be very strange to find all the symptoms you mentioned on a genuine Samsung charger, even from their cheapest phones.
Soft metals, plastic flashing, typos - don't think so.

    • The charging block I received seems identical to yours, so yours was not a one-off.

    • Yours look like a fake, I will upload photo of the charger that came with my s6 when I am free.
Though basically, mine looks like the one on the right.

  • Received my 'fast charger' today. With much disappointment, i don't know whether the one i received is faulty but i've got a mate who received his as well and it just doesn't work!
    1. It does not do 'FAST' charging at all on a S6 Edge & on a S6.
    2. Plug it with the provided charger, it charges normally.
    3. Plug it in with my legit Samsung Fast Charger, it starts charging as a normal charger and then when the screen goes off, the charging stops. I've got another wireless charger and this does not happen with it.
    4. Note that my mate is having the same issue.

Hoping to get some clarifications on this.

    Thanks

    • @jaybarrggs
Kindly PM or send an email to [email protected] & we will assist immediately.

      • Thanks for getting back to me quickly.
        Cheers.

    • Note that i've contacted their customer service and they are awesome.
Resolved the issue in a very quick and in the best way possible.
It is my fault that i didn't read the small prints at the bottom where it says that only Note 5 and S6 Edge+ are supported for fast wireless charging.

      Cheers.

  • Although I haven't investigated the charging block in detail, it certainly reads "50v". I'm more concerned about the wireless charging pad itself. Compared to my genuine Samsung charging pad, the fan is really loud, and both it and the blue charging light stay on even when I have removed my phone from the pad. I contacted them about it this morning (there is no phone number to contact them on, so I had to use email), and will update if the matter is resolved.

    • 50v = fake as a $3 note.

    • I think your correct. I've looked very closely at my wireless charging pad now too and I believe it is fake as well (although at least on the outside a fake with some decent attention to detail, but who knows on the inside where it arguably is more important):
      1) looking at the compliance plate, on the top left corner where the corner is cut off it is no where near as tidy on this one (black for me) compared to the genuine direct from Samsung.com (white for me). The Samsung one appears to be a perfect fit, this one the compliance plate is cut at a completely different angle and doesn't fit neatly at all.
      2) the rubber on top is quite different, the Samsung one feels actually quite slick whereas this one feels kind of coarse, more like what you would get on foam floor tiles or something. They both feel quite dense.
      3) the top rubber is a decent fit on this one, but no where near as good as the genuine. I can't get my fingernail between the rubber and the plastic on the genuine, on this one I can easily hook my fingernail between the two. It also seems to sit nearly twice as thick above the plastic (noting that it might be the difference between 1mm and 2mm so its not something I measured accurately) .
      4) I found this black one on ebay with a perfect cut top left corner on the compliance plate. The ebay one has a different serial number to this one even though both are black - but that possibly doesn't prove anything in itself, I'm not sure.
      5) There appear to be subtle differences in printing quality, the non genuine is no where near as bold but it is subtle and if I didn't have the two side-by-side I doubt I would be able to pick the difference. The printing is much, much better on the wireless pad than the wall charger, see my earlier post above.

Couple of high rez pictures for others to comment on if they wish.

Ok: note the rep has posted a comment below as well.

      • Have you tried weigh them?
Would need to crack it open or use oscilloscope to be sure.
Printing quality and label cut-out look suss.

        • +1

          Have you tried weigh them?

Good idea. I should have thought of that:
          Genuine A = 116g.
          Genuine B = 117g.
          Etronicsworld A = 108g.
          Etronicsworld B = 107g.

Just a set of electronic kitchen scales but surely good enough for comparing like-for-like?

So there is about 9g / 8% difference which seems to be a lot for products which in theory are identical except for colour.

So does that confirm it? Definitely fake? Anyone else want to weigh theirs (either genuine or non-genuine) and post results for comparison?

        • @perkinma:

I also weighed mine. It came up as 108g. Guessing mine is fake too

      • As mentioned below anyone that feels they have a defect to please email us directly with your concerns and we will promptly and efficiently deal with it.
        Thanks

        • No offence mate but these items are either original or they are fake, feelings don't come into it.
At this point I would be verifying my stock and posting the results. If they pass great show us or if not, contacting people offering refunds to everyone.
You only have one reputation and passing off fake goods is a quick way to lose it.

    Dear all,

Management have just send me a note:

If any one is facing an issue with their charger or feels they have not received a genuine can you please email [email protected] and in the subject please copy and paste: Ozbargain - Samsung Charger defect DF0012 replacement

We will be replacing all chargers.

We sincerely apologies for the inconvenience this has caused; we purchase all our items from suppliers in good faith & are taking this matter very seriously.

We hope this rectifies the fault in the above in a satisfactory way.

    • Hi Rep
I sent email yesterday. Yet to receive any acknowledgement.

      • Please check your PM we have emailed you and it has bounced back twice

      • I have emailed them and they have been responding to me really, really fast. Normally no more than a few hours, takes me ten times longer to write back to them.

        • I have also just sent an email. My wall charger also looks fake. Guessing I won't get a response until Monday.

    • Hi Rep

It's been almost a month now - would you be able to give us an update as to what happened with the original stock?

Did your supplier indeed supply non-genuine Samsung chargers and has this been rectified?

Has etronicsworld checked their current stock to make sure only genuine chargers are being sold? I see that the ebay listing is still up and the items are still being sold.

      Any update would be appreciated.

      Cheers

  • Late to the party picked mine up on the 29th Dec from auspost after they misplaced it. The charger doesn't fast charge my note 5 & like above blue light stays on after phone lifted, or no light at all, what resolution did people get? Are the replacement chargers ok? Emailed them this morning 😕

  • Just a really quick update on my circumstances. I purchased 2 of the wireless chargers under this deal. I emailed as per rep's post above and have received really quick reply's the whole way along. Was offered refund or replacements sourced directly from Samsung while they sort out whatever supply chain issues have occurred. I opted for replacement (only white as Samsung hasn't had black in stock for some time) and the replacements were received before Christmas (fast turn around given shipping from Samsung was also involved). I have returned the dodgy ones back to ETronicsWorld.

I haven't had a good look over the replacements but all of the text printing errors are gone, all the fine detail trim and alignment looks correct and all the weights line up with the genuine items I got direct from Samsung to within 1 gram so in my opinion the new replacements are definitely genuine.

And to cap it all off the rep upgraded the wall charger from the standard to the adaptive fast charger variant (EP-TA20HWE) for me.

So thumbs up for the rep and ETronicsWorld from me. They got onto the issue fast and have worked hard to address it. Great customer service, thanks!

  • Yes, their responses have been really prompt. My wall charger was also replaced with the adaptive faster charger variant. I didn't pay too much attention to the wireless charging pad until now. I don't have any scales to weigh mine but the compliance plates also look out of place. I have just sent them a follow up note regarding this. Hopefully I get the same service as you did!

  • Fast response from the rep issue sorted really happy with the quick resolution..

    • That's good. What was your resolution? Still awaiting a response.

      • I went for the refund option as no more stock of black chargers till 11th Jan.. Hopefully they respond soon, very quick this morning only a few emails ☺ let everyone know how you go..

  • I found this useful - http://forum.xda-developers.com/s6-edge-plus/accessories/fak…

Going to weigh mine later this week!!!

  • Has the issue of whether the first batch of these chargers were real or fake? I'm looking to get two or three of these and I can still see that they're being sold here by the same seller as "Genuine"..

I'm tempted because they're a good price, but I'd be willing to pay more to get the real ones.

    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/GENUINE-Samsung-Wireless-Charging…

    • +1

The chargers were fake, the wireless units looked very suss.
Cant believe they are still selling them like that. If you buy anything on Ebay and can prove it is fake you do not have to return it and you get a full refund.

      • +1

Thanks for that - in that case, I'll steer clear of eBay for this. There's a few aussie sellers selling this "genuine" item at very similar prices - all around the $40-45 mark but I wouldn't know whether it's real or fake until I receive it.

My best bet seems to be going to a HN or JB and just buy it from there.

        • +1

The fakes are definitely pretty hard to distinguish from genuine chargers unless you have them side by side. Despite the issues, the seller has been great with replacing them with genuine wireless charging pads and wall chargers. I'd suggest reaching out to the seller before purchasing and reading the posts above to determine how to tell fakes from genuine ones.

        • @julz15:

Thanks Julz - I've had a good read of this whole thread and also the thread in XDA.

If the seller already knows there's potential problems with the stock and he's still selling the same stock on eBay, I think the seller might simply be doing a PR exercise on OzBargain by replacing the questionable ones with genuine ones.

On the eBay page, it says "200 sold" - the ones that have been replaced for buyers on this site only makes up a small portion of what's been sold so far. The rest would have gone to unsuspecting buyers.

Ah the end of the day, I'd rather not stuff around sending things back and forth. If I wanted a non-genuine Samsung charger, I'd just order one from China for $10.

        • @hv:

That is a good point hv.

I would be very, very interested to know if they are still shipping the dodgy stock and only replacing the ones where people complain. In my opinion that would be very dodgy behaviour indeed.

In their correspondence to me they have seemed to be quite genuine about fixing up the supply chain issues. So I would be tempted to give them the benefit of the doubt at this stage. But if you do get dodgy ones then as you point out you are the one stuck with all the mucking around to get it rectified.

If it helps - if you do order from ETronicsWorld and get dodgy ones let me know and I can lodge it with the ACCC. I've been getting a ton of BS from Samsung over a brand new Galaxy S6 that (barring a miracle) I will be taking to the ACCC and the Department of Fair Trading shortly so I will be going through all that anyway.

        • @perkinma:

I agree with you that the seller seems to be quite genuine about fixing up his issues in this thread and I'd like to give them the benefit of the doubt too.. but I'd like confirmation from the rep whether they're supplying real Samsung chargers before I place an order. $100 or so isn't a small amount of money for two chargers, but it's also not enough to really waste time lots of time chasing it up (if need be).

Thanks for your offer to take it to the ACCC if it's not genuine, but I'd rather not put my foot in a potential hole… =)
