M5 Speed Camera Princess Highway Exit

Today while I was driving through the m5 tunnel from kingsgrove, I was heading down the exit to princess highway. I increased my speed just over the speed limit just to get past 2 cars as I needed to change lanes and there was car right behind me so could not slow down.

I'm worried that if a speed camera might have taken a flash out of me, I changed exactly right at the point when the left lane was available that goes right into princess highway which exits the tunnel.
Anyone familiar with the m5 tunnels and where the cameras are besides the entrance?

  • They are further back where you have 2 speed signs in close succession.

  • Did you exceed your speed by like 10km or more? These Fixed Speed cameras are quite systematic and straight forward. If the camera caught you overspeeding by 10km or more i think it will automatically take snapshot images of your overspeeding as evidence and will be sent to TCO (Traffic Camera Office) for processing. By processing i mean, they will flagged your car as overspeeding and they will probably review these snapshot images and then decide if your case warrants an official warning or worst an infringement notice.

Official warning for speeding? I think not. Its a straight fine. Never heard of a warning when snapped by the speed cameras

  • I went from 78 slowly accelerated to 97. Then slowed back to 80 after passing the car near the exit.

    • I see. Then my friend theres a chance you wont get away with it. seems like you exceeded by 19km. I been caught by these fixed speed cameras TWICE in the past where both instance i exceeded by only 10km (driving 90kmh over the 80kmh speed limit) but in my case it was on a suburban roads not a major highway / freeway. The first one was an official warning because its my first overspeeding offence, the second one was i ended up with an infringement paying 300+ dollars. But hey dont take my word for it. You might get away with it who knows.

      • But the camera only take shots as you pass by them "speed camera" if your way ahead of it there's possibly no way they can detect anything only CCTV can, especially having multiple cars right behind.

Why could you not slow down if a cars behind you? Just indicate, touch the brakes a little to them know you want to change.

  • There were a couple of cars on my left lane I wanted to get passed them in front but the guy in front on my left lane seemed to speed up as I was trying to pass him, the car behind him was extremely close to him as well. I changed lanes abit to late which ended up running through the curved v shaped warning grey thin pained black and white, Between the wall and two lanes.

  • The camera is about midway through the tunnel. Don't worry, the location before the exit has no cameras.
If you wish to know the camera location, its just as you pass the variable speed sign midway where the tunnel is a straight and you will notice the road has a rectangular tar pattern where the induction sensors are.

Didn't they teach u not to speed? Only something incredibly fast would cause that to collapse, lucky it didn't fall on someone or you ran over a person, next time pay more attention on the road.

Any speed from 1km could kill, all it takes is for you to fall and get run over, you try putting your hands under those wheels and tell me it doesn't hurt. the amount you need to pay is infact a bargain, you know how much you would pay if you hit someone instead?
I don't know why I have the feeling that your car is also not registered.

If you want sympathy Ozbaragin (sic) isn't the place mate, now move along.
Btw best regards and happy new year, hope PROSPEROUS year ahead of you.
