  • what if it does go wrong?

otherwise - use your phone to record when it does go wrong at home.

    • They don't agree they physically want to do assessment

      • yeah, take the video and take the TV in as well for assessment, so if they can't replicate it then you show them the video of it.

        • Once they receive tv they might plug in and run for few hours come back say nothing wrong
I watch tv every day for max 2 hrs one day works well after 2 or 3 days problem starts i have to turn tv mainboard switch off and on back working well

        • @joshnair: yeah, you're not lugging a huge ass TV back to their shop to get a replacement of the identical TV for fun. you just want a working Sony Bravia KD65X8500C, yes?

that's the logic you should be stressing to them.

they will understand that the fault might not show up immediately in their presence.

        • I had a big argument with harvey norman for this but still they want to test it i don't know this will solve me the problem.if lucky they found the problem thay would refund the money instead of replacing still the price deal i bought was 2499

        • @joshnair: sure, they want to test it. and you actually want a refund.

          just take it in.

          what choice do you have?

        • For that price i won't get that tv is my concern

        • @joshnair: I'm not following you. do you want a refund or replacement?

        • @altomic:need replacement

        • They have options refund or repair

        • +1

@joshnair: sorry, misread one of your responses. just take it in.

you bought a unit with a spasmodic fault and you'd like a replacement.

  • If youve logged a call with Sony, and they have acknowledged the fault, maybe you could get a claim number from Sony to have a replacement at Harvey Norman. That way there is no risk for the retailer (which is why theyll want to assess it), and it may mean an easy exchange for replacement.

  • There is a problem I incurred with a 60" Panasonic plasma just 2.5 years old. It started clicking and did not work. No TV repair person was prepared to come to the home and the sheer weight of the TV and logistics of moving it from house to repair shop meant it went eventually, to the dump. Try fitting any TV 60" or larger in the boot or back seat of the car! Had a new TV led delivered instead. Poof, there goes a $1,800 investment.
Moral of the story, buy extra warranty to protect your investment, but read the conditions carefully.

  • I would call Sony again and explain the dilemma of an intermittent problem and the hassle of taking to to HN and them maybe/maybe not finding it. I have a Sony Bravia that's almost 10 years old now, and when it was way past it's warranty, a green part of the screen started appearing. I called them and explained it was out of warranty but I wasnt happy spending over $2k on a TV for it to be broken within a short period. They ended up sending a technician to my home, who replaced the entire inside screen of the TV.

    • Thanks i called sony to arrange service tech to have a look

  • I had a similar issue (only twice in 2 weeks) with my 55X8500C, until I completed all of the software updates-there are 3 in total (maybe 2?). That could be the cause, but let the service tech check it.

  • Hey mate wondering how you went in the end with the TV? Did Harvey Norman end up replacing it?
I bought the same TV from Harvey Norman and have had the exact same problem, it's probably happened 10 or so times. Turn the TV off and the sound is still going or sometimes turn the tv on and the sound comes on but no picture.
The remote for the TV is pretty laggy too…. got to wait so long for the tv guide etc to pop up.

    • Have you upgraded the system software? Mine started off quite buggy but after the 2 updates (there are about 3 as of now), it's fixed itself.

  • I bought Sony Bravia KD55X9300D at JB-Hifi around end of October last year, but after 100 days it is stopped working. Call JB-Hifi but they said I need to call Sony since it is already more than 3 months. Then I called Sony and the engineer that came couple days later said that the power supply board inside the TV is broken and need to be replace. I request to get new TV replacement but Sony only can provide repair because Sony said it consider old already (more than 30 days). I really disappointed. My friend bough which consider low end brand with similar specification one month before me and his TV still works until now. His TV cheaper than me.
