The Mods Must Be Crazy?

In todays Dungeon Crawl ROTTR bargain someone posted that they were disappointed that they missed out.

I made a crack that they should keep an eye out on gumtree as in a few weeks i will be flipping mine once im done with it at an inflated price

I just noticed that the comment was removed as being in breach for attempted private selling, and i cannot comment further in that thread

i though the obvious joke was, well, obvious?

Here is a link to the bargain - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/225970

I heard AI has being implemented and so can predict future comments.

Thus your comment was removed as the AI predicted you were going to sell.

Nice one, i think you have already won the funniest comment for this thread.

By the way, would you or anyone else like to buy my xbox two ? it will be released circa 2023, i will be done with it about 10 years after that

  • i though the obvious joke was, well, obvious?

I didn't see the comment but I don't see how others would see it as a joke when you said it will be on gumtree when you're finished with it.

Well maybe you have a point….sarcasm can be lost on the internet - but since i did not list a date, place or price of / for the sale, i clearly was not trying to divert traffic from ozbargain to my potential, non existent sale of the item that i will receive in the future..if dungeon crawl dont cancel for overselling etc

  • I think the mods overreacted in this instance Having said that I'll purchase it from you…

Haha sure, no worries, keep hitting refresh on gumtree every 15 mins or so between boxing day and, say, end of January - that way you will be sure not to miss out - ill list it at exactly $50.37 so you know its mine - if you cant make the 8000km round trip from ACT to WA, im happy to post at an inflated price too ;)

would you also like dibs in my xbox two in about 15 years?

FYI, the mods have now reinstated my pointless comment on the now redundant expired original bargain post so this pointless thread is now, well, pointless - thanks for your pointless contribution :)

This is a scam. First it's $50.00 and now it's $50.37. To be perfectly honest I think the mods should step in for trying to defraud a fellow OzBargainer.

ps - You can keep the 'xbox two' for all I care, I'm getting the PS6 in 2021.

  • Another member missed out on this deal:

bah missed out, really wanted this oneā€¦great price.

    You responded with:

Mine will be up on gumtree for $50 after im finished, be sure to keep an eye out

    You received:

    • 6 negative votes
    • 0 positive votes
    • a report

We all must have missed the joke because it sounded like you were advertising an upcoming sale. We often get comments like this and then the commenter will have the item in the classifieds (pointing to Gumtree).

      • Suck it up mate, it's their website, their rules and they can enforce them however they like. Cry more over having a comment deleted on a website.

        • -1

I think youre missing the point - its not about the comment being deleted.

And after that little tirade im not your mate, mate

        • +1

@cypher67 hope you were being sarcastic rather than attacking another member, which would be against the rules you would like enforced :)

        • @RockyRaccoon: haha good one…judging by their comment I fear concepts such as sarcasm and irony may well be lost on them - unlike spite and insolence

Plus i gave this thread a really witty title, in an attempt to indicate everything surrounding the whole kerfuffle is purely in jest - it refers to a classic old film from the 80s - check it out if youve not seen it

But the fact you actually made the thread seems like it wasn't just purely out of jest.

        • -1

But i put a "?" after the title of the thread, which in itself i thought was a fairly obvious reference to a comedy film.

If i put a "." Or even a "!" Or perhaps italicised, underlined or bolded the word "must" - perhaps in combination with any of the aforementioned punctuations, then yeah i might be able to see where you are coming from, maybe

This kerfuffle is fast becoming a conundrum !

      • If you were just making a pointless comment rather than alluding to a future classified ad, then we are happy to republish your comment. Your comment is now published.

If you or any other member has an issue, then please use the Talk with a Moderator forum. We always welcome and encourage feedback as it helps drive our guidelines to ensure the community runs smoothly.

        • Oh good, thanks for that; another pointless comment back on the internet, which is now up to 11 negs so it looks like it is snowballing nicely

It seems i cant reply to that thread though, id like to add another pointless comment about internet sarcasm as many of those who did not get the joke may not have clicked on this pointless thread

        • @pointless comment:
          Get over yourself.

        • @TailsK: lighten up buddy, dont take things so seriously….not a very nice thing to say so close to Christmas.

no hard feelings - best wishes to you and yours for the holiday season and may 2016 bring you inner peace and prosperity

        • @pointless comment:
You're attacking moderators for doing their job. It's not a very nice thing to do so close to Christmas.

        • @TailsK: no i was not 'attacking' anyone. I made a light hearted query into what i believe was over the top moderation, which was somewhat vindicated when the comment removed was reinstated.

Ironically, it is you who was attacking me!

  • OK, The OP had a query about a comment and now has been resolved. I think we can safely close this thread without delving into a slanging match.

Everyone is welcome to give their feedback. Questioning decisions is a productive way to ensure our country OzBargain progresses to meet the needs of community members.
