  • Save yourself disappointment, get a cold pressed juicer instead.

    • A few years ago CHOICE tested and found slow juicers performed much better than the fast juicers. The current crop of fast juicers appear to have been largely redesigned since then.

CHOICE recently tested a few fast juicers including this one as well as some slow juicers. The slow juicers were all a lot more expensive. There was no consistent benefit for slow juicers compared to fast juicers in terms of the percentage of different nutrients extracted, nor in terms of freshness/longevity of the juice.

This juicer scored highest in the CHOICE test.

      • I bet the freshness of the juice would suffer if you don't drink it straight away.
Might not be a problem if you always drink it straight away after juicing.

  • Juicing is like airing wine …… it gets into contact with a lot of oxygen before it gets into the glass, and so a fair bit of it oxidises before it hits the glass. But it is refreshing and probably healthier than some other drinks. Same with the bullet / smoothie blenders …. whipping oxygen through juice.
That is one of the benefits of eating whole food …. less contact with oxygen before it gets to you digestive system.

    • Oxidising aside, juicing remove the best bit from the fruits - fibre. Unwittingly you may also consume more and taking too much sugar. You absorb the sugar much faster from the juice as well, means you will have have sugar rush shortly after drinking the juice.
It's still "healthier" than soft drinks, but eating the fruits is much better.

  • Good. Been waiting for a deal on this after I missed the eBay 20% off deal a few weeks back.

  • Target at the Glen had none in store, so I went downstairs to jbhifi and got it price matched.
