New Smartwatch - Looking at Moto 360 or Similar with Wireless Charging

Hi,
Looking for new SMartwatch to replace my LG G watch.
Problem is my LG G struggles to charge, contacts are starting to corrode.

Looking for a Gear based smart watch with wireless/contactless charging.

My thought is either Moto 360 V1 or V2.

Any other candidates?

Also whats a good brick shop to get those for a decent price, just dont like to buy from online shop.
Cant seem to find any good offers, most dont seem to have it at all.

Cheers

  • Look on gumtree. You can get the 360 V1 for around $170. I have one I got from this deal https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/172383 and love it. Don't think the V2 has been released in Aus yet.

  • V2 not released here yet, and don't worry with Gumtree - you can get the v1 brand new for under $250.

Saying that, I got a V1 - it failed and I exchanged it. Two weeks later the second one failed with the same issue. They were getting incredibly hot when charging and after almost two weeks exactly they would only charge to 10% then discharge in under 2 minutes.

I switched to a Huawei watch - double the price - but the display and battery life is better.

don't get me wrong, the Moto 360 is great but I just wasn't willing to try a third time.

  • I have a Moto 360 V1, would get the V2 over it if I didn't already have the V1

  • Got the 360 v1. Can get a day out of it with ambient mode - charge overnight. Didn't want to spend more than the 360 because was first android wear watch I've had using with iOS. If I was using android, I would of spent the extra money on th v2 and customised using the moto maker feature to my liking.

  • I have the v2.I bought it from dwi. 42mm version, $525. I know it is a lot of money for a watch that's not as awesome as it's price. But I wanted to buy a watch so why spend on one that never changes its watch face?

I was trying to order the 46mm initially but dwi didn't inform me for a whole week that they don't have it in stock. Then after I contacted they said they will ship within 3 days but eventually I did more research with rulers and reviews and decided that 46mm is too big for my wrist and an average wrist. 46mm is a pretty standard size for watches but moto 360 v2 stands out more because it's just a big round screen.

I don't know how the v1 behaves but I would say v2 is not yet there. I like it I wear it everyday, good style, activity tracking/heart rate all pretty good. You can't use it to make/answer phone calls/speak though. It just notifies you of a phone call. This seems to be related to Lollipop release of the software. I didn't like that. I guess if it's a software issue it will be fixed eventually.

I would say try to buy the v2 at a discount. V2 is supposed to be significantly better than v1 so it's better you wait. Not sure when will they launch in Aus. Dwi and eglobal both have the black metal version for sale. Or get the leather version for around $300 from ebay.
