  • Hmmm… How accurate is the tracking? What happens if there is no GPS signal?

    • +1

      We leverage the iPhone's built-in navigation capabilities, which is pretty advanced but like most smartphones can struggle in certain situations (eg. in a crowded multi-level car park). The user can ask the app to look up the location if they feel it's off (tap the navigation arrow located in the top menu), however, during our development testing on several devices it's spot on, first time every time.

    Thanks OP, I'll give it a go.

    • Cheers, we'd love to hear about your experiences and any ideas (there's a feedback section under the Settings view). Please rate us 5 stars if you enjoy, and don't forget to share with your friends! :-)

    How well does it handle multi story concrete carpark? Does the gps get a lock?

    • We leverage the iPhone's built-in navigation capabilities, which is pretty advanced but like most smartphones can struggle in crowded car park situations. This is an inherent limitation of the handset and not the app.

      We've found that newer iPhones tend to perform better than the older devices. Also, you'll want to remove any bulky covers and to be standing outside of your vehicle to get the best signal possible. Hopefully these suggestions can help you achieve the best experience.

      New phones comes with barometer, which can help telling the floor while longitude/latitude doesn't change. If the app is not using it today, may be it should start using it.

      • Thanks, we're familiar with the altimeter capability, not sure how accurate the barometer would be for determining height though?

        • +1

          I think OS meant altimeter, which measures altitude.

          A barometer measures atmospheric pressure and wouldn't aid this app in any way.

        • @KaptnKaos: Yep, all good!

        • @KaptnKaos:

          A barometer measures atmospheric pressure

          Except that one can use a barometer to gauge attitude….based on pressure differences by attitude

        • +1

          @dealman:

          Yeah, my attitude is different too when I'm in a plane at an altitude of 30,000ft and an obese passenger is sitting next to me in cattle class.

          And nobody needs an altimeter nor a barometer to gauge my change in attitude at such a high altitude with such low pressures.

          :)

          @KaptnKaos: ha-ha a barometer can't fix a fat finger and Swiftkey

  • how to enable the camera access

    • Please follow the instructions under the Settings > Check Device Permissions view. It will take you to the device Settings app to enable access to the Camera.

  • when i go to check device permission, all the options are enabled but disabled on the camera. i clicked the open settings app and took me to instaparking location and notifications. I think it got something to do with privacy on the camera. I went to privacy setting>camera but could not find the instaparking app on the page. Other app like whatsapp, wechat etc are listed there but not your app.

    • Hmmm strange, sounds like an issue we'll need to investigate for you.

      Could you please send us a ticket via the app's Settings > Support > Send us your ideas for improvement button?

    • @dtjan01 just letting you know that we received your email, thanks. I'll post here in case anyone else experiences similar issue with enabling their Camera.

      Could you please try uninstalling the app, rebooting your phone, install any pending iOS updates, then install InstaParking from the App Store (should show up under Purchases). This will help us to eliminate the issue to do with the operating system.

      If the problem persists, send us your support ticket via the app's Settings > Support > Send us your ideas for improvement button

      Cheers

      • still not working after uninstalling, reboot and install back. No pending IOS updates (9.2 IOS) by the way. Never jailbroken or anything tweak done.

        • Hi @dtjan01 we've replied to your email. Thanks for your patience and support!

      @Roary the app was originally launched as free, but is now pay to download. We're running a limited time promotion to keep it free for the month of January. We created InstaParking due to user demand, so we believe this app can offer plenty of value to yourself regardless of it's launch price.

      • +3

        No you are lying again.. That web site tracks the cost. Its always been free

        You are just lying to get some free advertising..

        • -3

          @Roary

          Haha you got us buddy! Where did you find such a cool website?

          Sure, we are using this method of promotion to raise awareness. Since the app owner is effectively giving it away for free, we are trying the various cost effective (and legal) channels to promote, eg. this forum. It is also our hope that fellow OzBargainers can benefit from this offer.

          The buy-to-download price was implemented two days ago, prior to this promotion - this may explain why your Appshopper link doesn't show the correct information. Please bear in mind these third party websites oftentimes are inaccurate and slow to update after an update is published.

          The App Store allows prices to be adjusted on a day-to-day basis. This is done entirely at the discretion of the publisher. As stated in the OP, we plan to return the buy-to-download price ($4.99) at the end of this promotion, however, the app owner reserves the right to adjust pricing based on the results of our promotions.

  • "Offers in-app purchases"

    • As stated in the OP, the app is completely free to download and use. We have added a donation option (entirely at your discretion) should you like the app. The donation is paid directly through Apple's iAP, hence the notice.

      • -1

        Lol right

  • +1

    How about telling us how much we are donating on the donations page instead of vague descriptions like the price of coffee? Also, it says you are committed to keeping the price of the app free - I don't like it when people misrepresent goods.

    • Oh, I can see why you feel that way. As mentioned earlier to another post, the app's pricing model has changed since it was first published. We forgot to remove that text from the Donation view. Sorry about that!

      As for showing the donation amount, we'll put your suggestion to the development team. IIRC Apple sets the in App Purchase amount, and they change it from time to time (as they did not long ago to adjust for the weaker AUD), so we opted for descriptive text and rely on the pop up confirmation window to display the actual amount before you accept the payment.

      Cheers

  • *** UPDATE RE: IPHONE CAMERA PERMISSION ISSUE ***

    Hi guys, I understand some of you have experienced an issue with the iPhone camera not playing nicely with the app. This seems to be an edge case affecting a handful of users. We've isolated the issue and will be publishing an update to fix.

    The new app (version 1.3) is currently waiting to be reviewed by Apple. At this stage, we expect it will be available to update through the App Store within the next 7-10 days.

    To enable the camera, simply drop a location pin, then tap the Take a Photo button. You'll be prompted by your device to enable access to the camera.

    If you have any questions or concerns please don't hesitate to contact us again at [email protected]

    Thanks again and have a great day!
