Incredible price! I got one at release for $649 (got $150 back with proce protection) and even that is an awesome price for it.

    • Can this be used as home theater, i am very keen to buy good home theater under $500 but i have no knowledge about sound systems yet.

  • Is anyone using it with the KD75X8500C? I'm wondering if the sound-stage is too narrow for a 75" TV.

I got it with mine in their cash back offer a while ago. It's perfectly fine. Very surprising sound.

  • Can anyone recommend something similar to this without the additional woofer (needs to have ARC).

  • I'm interested to see how it compares to the Samsung HW-J450.

    • The Sony has 3 HDMI inputs, so it basically replaces a receiver. The Samsung has 1.

Sony is 330 Watt, Samsung is 300

      No NFC on the Samsung.

No 4k Pass-through on the Samsung

      The Sony kills it.

      • With the 4k pass-through, do you know if the ports are hdmi 2.0? I would be using my pc for 4k gaming and hoping not to compromise the fps or get lag.

        • Yep, All HDMI ports are 2.0. Also, at least one other port supports HDCP 2.2.

      • Hmmm, the features are a little irrelevant to how I'd use them. My main concern is how the audio quality compares.

Seems to be out of stock! Although they did mention they'd be getting more stock in but were unsure when.

Thanks OP just picked one up at Atarmon think they had 2 left.

I'm new to the whole soundbar thing - do they really compare to discrete front&rear speakers & amp?

    • +2

These are nice for a small room or when you just can't be bothered with multiple speakers and the whole setup associated with it (running speaker wires etc etc). Dedicated amps/speakers will give a much better sound depending on whats fed to them but sound bars can hold their own (especially the more expensive units). I have the pioneer sound bar for the family room and it works ok and definitely better than anything a TV can do. But compared with my Sony 7.1 setup in the TV room it still a long way behind.

      • that makes sense, I'll hang out for a reasonably inexpensive amp+speaker pack then.

At least 1 more left at Tuggerah. I got one too, thanks OP.

    Thanks op! :)

  • Anyone been able to price match to TGG?

    • Not my local TGG. They could only do $449

      • I managed to do so at Moorabin DFO and Chaddy. And by the sounds of them I wasn't the first one

        • Good effort. Nunawading wouldn't and I am away on holiday so I can't check any others :(

        • @soupratt: Yeah Nunawading is my local store too they are pretty strict on it. They physically check the store your price matching if they have stock.

Other TGG didn't question anything. Even knew the price i wanted to match it to

  • Any feedback from the people who bought it?

    • Really happy with mine, sounds great.

It replaced my pioneer receiver + 5.1 speakers, so much cleaner with no cables running everywhere now.

I have a PC & PS3 running through it with a 50" Plasma, all connects and works flawlessly.
TV remote controls the volume and shuts down the sound bar automatically with the ARC feature.
      Bluetooth and NFC works perfect.
The Android App: SongPal is great, lets you access and modify settings direct from the app.
Have mounted mine to the wall with the supplied brackets, looks the goods.

Really glad I got this one, now to sell my 2 yo receiver and speakers..
