A bit more sucking power. No filter to clean on the DC54 vs having to clean filter on the DC37. Very much same same otherwise. Apparently the DC37 empties easier than the DC54. Still messy emptying the barrels either way.
Holy crap. I had a DC37 and if that was considered easier to empty, then this one must really be awful.
The design on the lid was just terrible. You will always get some dust stuck on the lid, because it catches the dust before you can open it all the way. Thanks to gravity. If you try to tap it or shake it to get it off the lid, you will kick up fine dust everywhere. You'll always need to clean the outside of the lid and bowl afterwards too, because it will stick there also. Unless you wipe the inside after every use (you can't use water), that bowl will always be dirty due to stubborn dirt sticking to it.
I've also seen reviews where when you empty it, some dust will enter the hole leading into the motor.
The picture makes it look like its stuffed with waffles…
