ok screen, too laggy for competitive play. tftcentral, pcmonitors, oscilloscope latency.

  • Great monitor. Some have been able to overclock it to 75Hz, mine is an early one and tops out at 66Hz.

  • Any reason to get a 4k monitor over a 4k TV at similar price range?

    • Most TV's will only do 30Hz at 4K, this does 60Hz (or higher if your lucky).

      • Where did you come up with that? Because the vast majority of 4K televisions I've seen are rated at 100Hz+ (or like 800Hz in bullshit marketing language).

My understanding is that monitors usually have lower response times and more accurate colour reproduction.

        • The 100-800Hz is what they (TV makers) call "frame interpolation", software is basically guessing what is in between the 30 source frames and inserting frames up to whatever Hz they advertise, it sometimes helps with motion.

You don't want this in a monitor, most monitors accept 60Hz at least at the input, some even 120Hz input.

      • That's not true, most all 4K TVs these days come with HDMI 2.0

  • Fantastic monitor, have been using one for ~2 months and won't look back.

VA panel is not perfect, but can only notice colour variation on solid blue images.

Overall I'm very happy, I spent $999 at umart.

  • I don't really need it but I want one so bad! Damn disposable income…

  • also using this monitor and it is freakin' awesome, turning it on everytime i am amazed at the crispness and shear size of the screen realestate. Best purchase i would have made this year.

I just checked, my old Dell 3007WFP-HC 2560x1600 weighed 11.38kg and this Philips 3840x2160 weights 9.7kg with the extra 10 inches as well.

177 watts on the Dell for power consumption and 62 watts on the Philips or just 40 watts in "eco" mode.

    • Pretty amazing how the tech has come along over the last few years

  • If anyone wants to take a look, PLE in Heatheron (Melbourne) have them one on display.

Pretty good unit, if I didn't already have a Dell 34" I would be all over this

  • Waiting for these to drop to around $600 :-(

    • I am waiting for OLED virtual reality headset so I don't even need to buy a new monitor ever again ;)

  • Yep, using it here. Had it since release and compared it against the Dell 3415W, ended up keeping the Phillips.

As others have mentioned, wouldn't use this for professional graphics work due to the slight inconsistencies with colour, but for gaming, media and office work etc its been great. Don't really play fps so can't comment on this "lag" but Witcher 3, Fallout 4, SC2, Just Cause 3 have all been great fun on this monitor.

Hope the next version is curved without putting the price into the stratosphere. After using the Dell, you can definitely notice the difference it makes on these large monitors at the edges having a curve.

Either way good to see the price get back to what I paid on launch ages back.
