It's fascinating to see how the systems here let your username through.

good price, but not as good as $999 during the 15% off eBay sale, which combined with the cashback and TRS = $700 for a new body. Still a great price for a great camera and Sunday is the last day you can buy in order to claim the cashback.

    • anyone post that?

Lascoe online was the eBay seller that adjusted their price to make the A7 $999 with the ebay discount. Might be worth contacting them next time there's an ebay discount - but there won't be a cashback available then. This deal only works out to be $70 odd more expensive.

Lascoe increased all their prices during the sale.

  • Does it still include e mount adapters ?

    • The redeemable one

      • No, that ended a year ago.

  • God prize but the 10xx aud deal last year is still unbeatable.

CameraPro is closed from 1st - 4th January 2016 (inclusive).
The Arthur Street and Queen Street showrooms will be open on Tuesday 5th January 2016.
All online orders will be processed from Tuesday 5th January 2016.

    How does this affect eligibility?

    • Hm, good point. The item name in the cart is described with the $200 visa card, so if payment goes through on/before Jan 3, i believe under fair trade law CameraPro should be obliged to honour the cashback? /notalawyer

      • Yes I think you are right, I think you have to right to claim until 17 Jan. You will need your serial number to claim

  • Yeah it was around $800 with the 15% off, and the A7 II was $1400!

  • Hmm, to get this or wait for the NEX-7 replacement.

      Get this.

NEX-7 replacement aint never going to happen. A6000 successor might. Then again, its been rumored for over a year.

      Depends on your requirements:
      - A7 is a bit old, but the sensor still has excellent IQ + low noise. The A6K successor might match it if it gets a BSI sensor.
      - A7 AF is a bit slower than the A6K - but not enough to really matter unless subject is moving about very quickly.
      - A6K successor most probably will cost more than this deal.

On the other hand, maybe there will be a new A7 body soon - in which case there should be some fire sales on old A7 and A7II bodies.

        • A7 is a bit old, but the sensor still has excellent IQ + low noise. The A6K successor might match it if it gets a BSI sensor.

That's my biggest concern. If I get this larger-bodied, heavier camera, I'd have to get a new E-mount UWA and a new EF adaptor as well… then if the NEX7 successor does ever come out, or the "A6100" matches this in terms of low light sensitivity, it'd be a wasted exercise.

        • A6K successor most probably will cost more than this deal.

That's true! Unless of course one would have to replace lenses as well to switch to the A7 series. :)

I already have the A99 but its tempting to buy one of these with an A7. http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1200735-REG/slr_magic_…

Massively happy with my A7. It's been to the US (thanks OzB) during a very cold snowy winter and down to the Oz snowy region with no issues at all - for those that will say that it doesn't hold a candle to your awesome weather sealed DSLR - I have a gopro (thanks again OzB) for when I want to get proper wet. :)
Purchased mine last year during the camera pro sales combined with the sony cashback and adapter redemption and sold the canon adapter for $300, so I ended up with a FF body for $800 (thanks OzB).
Bought a cheap $20 adapter with manual aperture control dial for a Sigma 50mm 1.4 in pentax mount, gives awesome results, also bought an even cheaper adapter for tamron 90mm 2.8 in the same mount for equally great results - they're both MF of course. I also have the la-ea4 adapter for AF with my Sony a-mount lenses.
TLDR: makes for an extremely versatile little camera.

    • Hey, do you still get autofocus with the adaptor & lenses? TIA

      • Yes to AF with la-ea4 adapter and a-mount lenses, no to AF with cheapo adapters and pentax k-mount lenses.

        • Thanks so much, answered my question perfectly mate

    • How do you find the battery life on the A7? I was very close to buying this, but ended up with the a6000 and that gives about 400-450 shots. I love my camera but would like to know how the A7 runs.

      • Haven't done any real testing and I don't want to make up a number just to give you an answer. I bought an extra couple of batteries just in case and a meike battery grip, but the batteries discharge in the grip while on the camera over 2-3 days. I find I get a couple of days out of a battery under normal use, but I'm not one of those people that takes 30,000 shots on a two week vacation either, if I take more than 200 shots in a day that's a really big day for me.

        • Thanks, sounds like your usage is very similar to mine. I'll have to give up the FF dream for a while, accidentally won a lowballed offer on an omd em10.

  • We have an a6000 and good Sony/Sigma lenses can be $200-$400, with the a7 do you have to buy thousand dollar lenses to get f1.8-2.8? Hope that makes sense!

    • A quick glance through this site suggests that yes, you do. You can use regular e-mount lenses which are much cheaper but you'll get terrible vignetting.

      • Thanks for the advice, just bought an a7

  • My A7 has served me well, went to hot and steamy Singapore in 2014 and then chilly Munich in 2015. It's been rained on and worked hard. Very happy with the IQ.

  • Im trying to buy this today but its coming up in the cart as $1085.50 shipped to Melbourne? Is the price stated in this post correct for the shipped amount as $1078? Thanks

Plus 1.5% surcharge for Credit Card payment and 2% for PayPal.

    • I think shipping is $10 for me here in Brisbane, so it probably depends on where you are.

  • would be good for folks who missed out on the digidirect 10% sales. But still if you are worried about distance/postage/paypal surcharges, why not go to JBHiFi and ask them for a price match? folks there at JB are really good with negotiating prices (based on my personal exp) and you might get a very good deal!

    • That's a really good point, have no idea why I didn't think of it, just had a dumb non-ozbargainer moment!
