Don't know how good the Hitachi is but price looks good for entry level 55 Smart with 2 year warranty.

I believe Hitachi used to make their own Plasma screens way back when but not sure with this technology.
Hitachi ceased television and display manufacturing in 2012. They now stick their name on other manufacturers' products (read Chinese). Just the Big 3 left in Japan - Sony, Panasonic and Sharp (very popular in its local market). Vale Pioneer, Hitachi and Toshiba (still manufactures for Japanese market).
Speaking of Sharp, wonder why we never see much of it here. So much Sharp stuff in Asia including really cool looking phones.
Even the old Hitachi plasma thats made in Japan sucked. Bought a 50 inch in 2007 and lasted less than 5 years…so disappointed. Was super expensive back then as well.

Are you saying that those two are of equal quality to the hitachi?
Personally I'd never touch a pendo (never heard of it) and especially a DSE TV, whereas id consider hitachi, but still ill pay more for a Panasonic and consider that more or a bargain.
It's a little like saying a corolla is a bargain because it's $100000 cheaper than a merc.

Pending Shmendo…. Pendo isn't comparable. Only 1 year warranty. Not a smart TV. The 65 @ D.S wasn't a smart TV either was it????

My father in law has a Hitachi LCD doesn't even has HDMI
so seemily must be many many years old and still looks good, so Hitachi may be well built so I'll have a look in a store if i can find
