PSN AU 3 Month Subscription $19.99 (JB Hi-Fi, Elizabeth Street, Melbourne)

144

Found these once before and thought it was a limited time but I went back there earlier this week and found they're still there.

Yes, this is 3 month's of PSN for $19.99 instead of $27.99, which is on all the other cards and online.

I've already grabbed a year's worth and they're valid up until 12 months from purchase and I highly suggest anyone get on down and grab a few, if you're in Melbourne.

So you grabbed 4x $19.95 cards (costing $79.80), instead of getting the year card for $69.95? BARGAIN

Pretty sure this is the normal price.

    • I sometimes don't use my account and I might use them for gifts for family and friends.

  • +5

Isn't cheaper to buy the year one in the picture for $69.95?

    • +4

Yes, it is, but some people use it sporadically and not all year round.

  • +2

Those 3 months cards have been available at retailers like JB HiFi and DickSmith for a long time now… and yes, $19.95 is the everyday price.

      • If you can find one in stock in store go for it, other than that, go for buying it online and paying for shipping if you're outside of Melbourne :D

    • +3

Actually $27.95 is the normal price now.

"Your PlayStation®Plus renewal price is due to increase The price of your PlayStation Plus subscription is going to increase. On 01/09/2015 the price of a 3 month subscription will rise from $19.95 to $27.95. The price of a monthly and annual subscription will remain the same. If your PlayStation Plus account is set to renew automatically you don’t need to do anything. Thats on the psn store… What about physical cards? Can you show me one that has the $27.95 price on it, cause as mentioned below i've always seen it as $19.95 at my woolies store..

        • you've always seen $19.95 on a physical card, they cannot just throw old cards to the bin, did you see the woolies price tag under/over it saying 19.95 for the card?

        • +1

Sure can’t, that’s because I have never once looked at a physical 3 month PS+ card. Well, I probably have, as I have looked at other cards, just never focussed on them, so thanks to my peripheral vision, I am a dirty liar. I always buy 12 months, and usually via regular PSN cards, not the PS+ specific ones.

You know I will be looking at the 3 month cards every single time I am near them now.

        • @meanozbgnr: I know for a fact that its always been $19.95 at my woolies. And to answer your question No, it did not have any sort of price tag under/over saying its $19.95.. Just your plain white tag that can be found everywhere in the store..

        • @snuke: LOL… the 3 months card will always drag your attention now xD
Then everyones a dirty liar, no ones able to prove that the physical cards are actually being sold for $27.95.. lol.

But yeah, just like you i always get the 12months and occasionally the 3 months on PSN cards..

  • +1

It's probably the best price around for a 3 month sub (for people who only sub for short periods of time.) But as mentioned already, if you sub year round you are better off buying 12 months straight up.

  • -5

Its not a bargain as mentioned by Pielo, these standard price has always been $19.95

    • +5

probably you missed the moment when sony increased 3 months to $27.99 last year

      • -3

Errr… I probably did missed that for a whole year then. Cause where ever i went its always been this price.

Btw, where did you see it was $27.99?

@meanozbgnr: Yeah i remember seeing this but i've never seen the physical ps+ cards at woolies and jb where i shop increase in price… Its always been $19.95 for me.

I even still have 1 3months left that shows $19.95…

Maybe it was only if you bought it through PSN?

        • @piggiepanda: did you buy it after 01/09/2015?

        • +2

          @meanozbgnr:

Not sure what is going on: Maybe the price increase for the subscription is only applicable for the PSN Store?

Us, retailers, are still getting the 3 months cards for $19.95, the product is still active and Sony has not sent any cards for $27.95.

It has been 4 months since that increase in the PSN Store, you would think if they were planning on releasing $27.95 cards anytime soon, we would know by now.

EDIT: Btw, I bought 2 of these 3-Months cards after September, and still plenty of stock at every retailers in the country. No sign of a different card with increased price on the shelves.

        • @meanozbgnr: Yeah, i bought it in November at woolies… Could it only apply if you buy it on the psn store itself?

        • @Pielo: UK retailers had an increase also last year. What I thought is when you buy a physical card after september they should charge 27.95 as they have to activate the card during the sale. If they are not charging the full price and activating it for 19.95 than something is wrong (good for customer).

        • @piggiepanda: do you have a receipt? Maybe they want to sell all physical cards with old price on it.

        • @meanozbgnr: No i dont have the receipt anymore. I bought it in November… Im assuming the same, could be they're just trying to get rid of old stock and once they're all gone they'll replace it with the new $27.95.. But as mentioned currently its appearing as $19.95 at my local woolies.

  • +2

Good price, not everyone needs a year membership so there is no point of paying for a year if you want to play couple of months. Good job OP.

  • -2

As far as I know this is the regular price.

  • -1

I'm wondering how the other post got 11 positive votes and no negs?

    • +8

      It was 4 cents cheaper

  • +1

Lol at all the negs because people don't know that Sony increased the price.

    • -1

There's been an increase but only in the ps store, not on physical cards at retailers.. Dont see any $27.95 cards being sold anywhere.. Do you?

      • +1

They will though. Do you really expect jb and hn to be able to sell it $10 cheaper then direct from sony themselves. Only time will tell but i strongly believe it's old stock. Thats why its still $20

        • Well it has been 4 months already since the price increase, the $19.95 cards are still showing as an active line and distribution centres are still ordering hundreds of units.

If they wanted to sell them for $27.95, they would have recalled old stock showing the $19.95 price tag and sent back some $27.95 ones. It would even be more profitable to destroy those plastic cards (costing them like $0.05 to produce?) and make an extra $8 per new one sold.

As you can see in OP's picture, they are not running out of stock.

That's all the information I have as a retailer. If you have contradicting information, please share it.

        • Not denying they wont. Just stating the obvious (again at my woolies) that they're currently selling it for $19.95..
If its like you said they're trying to clear out old stock the so it is, but its been 4 months in after the announcement and still no change in the physical cards..

Just like you said, only time will tell..

My local JB sells the cards for $27.95.

        • picture? Cause if its true then maybe they'll finally switching out the old stock with the new…

        • +2

@piggiepanda: Sorry I don't have the time to drive to JB and take a photo for you right now.

        • @AlanHB: Sorry, i should've considered that… You can take a photo when you finish work. thanks

I feel as though if i said the sky was blue several people here would argue with me so i will say no more

        • @lindendwightt:
The issue was that physical cards are the ones that still has $19.95 as its price not the digital.

But yeah, nothing worth arguing over. Dont mean to offend u if i did.. Cheers

So don’t because you would be wrong. The sky is clear.

  • +1

When you buy these cards, don't they just add credit to your PSN wallet? So if you got one of these, it would only give you $19.95 worth of credit which would not be enough to purchase a 3 month PSN membership?

    • +1

No, PS+ cards are specific to that, they will do as it describes, add however many months the card says to your PS+ sub.

  • do the 1 year subscriptions ever go on special?

    • +1

For AU PSN accounts not really, no. Best chance is to grab PSN cards when they are discounted like the recent Woolworths 20% off on $30 PSN cards.

      • thanks, is that deal still on?

        • +1

          It has expired unfortunately.

  • This is the first time i'm going online, can you get the 12 months cheaper then $69.9? is it worth it? or grab the 3 months one and use it everynow and then when a good game comes on?
