Moved to Forum: Original Link

Hi Guys,

Did a quick search in OZB and couldn't see any mention of Prezzee yet…
Just posted in the Dick Smith Forum Megathread - but if might get buried

I am in NO WAY affiliated with the store… Just a techie always looking at new Startups.

Prezzee (https://prezzee.com) has offered to exchange DICK SMITHs Gift Cards for other retailers.
Download the app - PREZZEE.

Good Luck to everyone, crap situation and I feel for those affected.

Get onto it quick…

A Sydney-based app specialising in electronic gift cards will allow customers to exchange all Dick Smith vouchers sold on its platform prior to the electronics retailer falling into voluntary administration.

They're not exchanging all DS gift cards.

Gutted. Sorry at work and skim reading while fixing Server crap.
Sorry to get hopes up all.

Great deal. I wonder how much investment they have to burn through for this advertising and good will gesture.

    • +2

Probably none, it is likely that they haven't paid Dick Smith for the cards yet and won't now.
Unlike Coles and Woolies who have already given Dicky the money from the card sales, or so they say.

      • Must be some good arrangement to be paid within 7 days or even 14 days that most of these promos were. from Coles and Woolies….
All the public holidays in between aswell…

    Wow.

If this is a deal, then I'm Prince Charles.

It is a very good deal IF you were one of the very few people who actually bought your Dick Smith gift cards from Prezzee.

They have had 2000 customers total and they sell 100's of gift cards.

So the chances they have had more than 20 customers buying Dick Smith gift cards at full price while Woolworths was selling them at a discount is close to zero.

Dirt cheap advertising, great publicity and goodwill for the company - costing them sweet FA but a good result for the lucky few customers.

To your Royal Highness Prince Charles aka kaptnkaos,

This may not be an actual bargain but it sure is potentially a very important deal that our community could benefit from - greatly.

This needs to be pinned to the front page somehow to help those who may otherwise have lots of $$$. Possibly it will be best moved to forums where this can be pinned to the top, but if we give this multiple pos votes, it will be maintained on the top 10 board.

Hope other similar intermediary companies will be able to offer a similar deal.

Kind regards from your loyal Ozbargainer,
      eve

      • I assume Prezzie will make contact with their customers directly. They've only announced it publicly for the publicity, and we shouldn't be feeding them free advertising.

This isn't a deal. If anything, it is an extremely targeted offer.

Edit: and now it's in the forums, where it should be.

        • Good point about the free publicity!

      • It's been moved to the forums, where it should be.

        Warm Regards,
        Kaptn

        • Seems fair =)

  • Glad dick smith screwed me over ages ago that i never gave any thought to buying any of their discounted gift cards

    • +1

Yep. They screwed me over so many times, although I did buy one $110 gift card for $100 at WW just before Christmas (using 10% off Big W Wish cards). I used the card on boxing day, and of course they dicked up again, except this time it was in my favour. Instead of sending me the $15 item I ordered, they sent me a $150 item that promptly went on eBay.

You didn't tell them of their error?

  • i guess good marketing but at least they are doing something. Has coles etc. come out and said they will do anything about the cards they sold that now cant be used?

    • Yeh. They said sorry, but they were not aware of the situation - talk to the DS Administrators.

      • How is money made and transferred for these external companies making gift card sales?

        • coles apparently said they already paid DSE which is why they cant refund.

Im guessing these prezzee guys havent paid dse yet which is why they can offeer refunds.

  • +1

Only applies to DSE cards bought through the PREZZEE app

  • I never bought the Dicky gift cards..

… because every time I tried to call like six stores to find stock of an item…

…no one ever answered the phone.

People, like me, don't want to waste time and effort visiting a store to find no stock.

Dicky missed out on a lot of sales because staff never answer phone calls and customers go elsewhere or just don't bother anymore.

A few quick answers and you condition a confident repeat customer.

Simple repeated management and customer service failures = liquidation.
