Watch Brand Collective (includes JM) which Anchorage purchased in 2014. Want to know what really happens at these private equity firms. I found this article to be closer to the truth than the usual hyperbole: http://www.news.com.au/finance/business/retail/the-dick-smit…

    • I know ozbargainer is looking for bargain, but if we continue supporting such practice we will only have short term gain and long term pain

Those written off (goods) and resale should not be consider as full profit - should offset - i.e. less written off value, else written off goods should be destroyed.

      • Maybe this time will be different. Let's hope so.

    • good article, everyone wants to buy shares should read this.
If Brand Collective (includes JM) followed DM with Anchorage, the Anchorage directors would just register another company to keep doing the same thing

    • These shoes are extremely unstylish, please don't damage your image in the office with these.
I understand these are cheap shoes but it's just not worth it.

If you are looking for cheap stylish office shoes, have a look at Windsor Smith on ebay (for instance this one is pretty nice for roughly the same price) but always stay away from bicycle stitched or squared toes like this

(note: I'm not associated with any, and usually wear Loake or Allen Edmonds).

  • Just purchased these shoes and the total came up to $29.90 including postage.

    • Where from?

    • Incorrect pricing system error. Has been rectified. Price will be $49.95 + $9.95 postage if you wish to purchase.

    • How did you get $29.90???

      • -1

System glitch rectified. Price for this promo is $49.95 + postage. A great buy at this price. Stock is very limited so please order asap to secure your size.

Thanks, needed a new pair of budget work shoes :). Just ordered.

Julias marlow are great working shoes !

    • +2

No, they are not. They are probably some of the worst made work shoes that you can buy.

      • and why is your opinion so bad?

        • They used to be good. Now that they are produced in China their quality has gone way down.

The same goes for Hush Puppies.

        • Experience with multiple pairs of Julius Marlow over the years and then experience with better brands for comparison. But for this price I guess this deal isn't bad - you'd need to pay around double to see a beneficial quality bump from these. If you're going to buy this brand, always buy on sale - never pay full price.

        • @Trishool: Do you have any suggestions on brands and/or models for this next quality level? Trying to get an idea on what to look out for.

        • @BlueMM: Aquila.

  • Dammit bought hush puppies yesterday

    • You can never have too many good quality leather shoes :) You may want another pair.

I've said that I've already bought one, stop pressuring me to buy. Leave me alone or I will have to report you to the police.

  • Are these wide shoes or normal? EE or EEE? I need wider shoes :(

    • The width would be best described as medium to wide fit. In the event the shoes are no good always happy to exchange or refund.

  • just bought. too bad you can't coupon stack with the newsletter sign up :(

been wearing my old ones for almost 2 years and pretty outta shape now…but comfortable for everyday work shoes and slip on and off easily :P

    • @ $49.95 its great deal considering you have been wearing the shoes for 2 years :)

  • Is this the only style on sale?

    • We have many other Julius Marlow shoes on sale but not at the same price.

  • bought 1.. hope the sizing fits

    • These shoes are true to size. We also offer a full return policy in case you need :)

  • Can you remove the inner sole? Usually not with cheap shoes.

  • hey rep, I'm lazy with shoes - how about a deal for this price for a slip on JM style?

    • Please visit our store. We have lots of other styles on sale that may interest you.

      • Thanks. I looked but they're a wee bit more than I'm prepared to pay.

  • I have the 'massive' model in a size 8.5 http://www.myer.com.au/shop/mystore/julius-marlow--massive-b…

How does the Plunge compare to the Massive? Are there not half sizes available?

    • Very similar in quality and sizing. Any issues always happy to exchange or refund.

  • Ordered one, from experience these are good work shoes.

Julius Marlow Plunge Mens Black Leather Shoe - $49.95

    So almost $100 a pair?

    • haha…for $49.95 you get both left and right shoes :)

      • Then the title should be : Julius Marlow Plunge Mens Black Leather Shoes - $49.95

Yes I know I'm being pedantic.

  • Has anyone bought a pair recently? I've just done a bit of googling and the reviews are shocking: http://www.productreview.com.au/p/julius-marlow.html

I personally have a pair of "Massive" boots from 4 yrs or so ago which are sill going strong and wearing very well from weekend use. A bit jittery now about the new ones?

    • The Plunge shoe is similarly constructed to the massive boots you own. The plunge shoes are a good quality shoe and great value at this price.

      • All right, you've convinced me. Just got a pair. Fingers crossed they feel as good as my current pair!

    • Mine last about 12-18months. But I wear them at least 4days a week. I know you're supposed to let the shoes "rest" etc, but at $50-60 a pair, I'm not too worried. I have 3 pairs of JM in the cupboard thanks to previous sales from BC and JM directly :)

    • See my comments above - I would never wear JM. I had a pair that got from some online store and threw them away without ever wearing them. Not really comfortable and very unstylish.
Happy to give you shoes advice just please don't damage your brand with a JM :)

      • I purchased and within 2 hours made contact via chat requesting to cancel my order. They said send an email. I did, then after no response sent another message this morning through chat (it was unattended) now a further 3 emails back and forth I am still trying to get a refund. So much for their hassle free returns…… nothing but hassles.

  • The Julius Marlow Plunge shoe is very similar in quality to the massive shoe you own. They are a good quality shoe and great value at this price.
Besides the shoes are only $49.95 plus $9.95. Not a big investment.

  • very old design. shame cant use the coupon code on other designs.

  • Used to always buy JM shoes.
Last pair had the leather flake off after only a month, revealing that these are mainly synthetic coated in a very very thin layer of leather

Still looking for a better shoe to stick with. Still have a good pair (not JM) that are around 25yo that get dragged out a few times/year.

  • It would be great if this code worked on other brands!

  • Is anyone else having a problem with the shoe being too big? I'm a size 9, bought a size 9 but seems too big. My other Julius Marlow shoe is a 8.5. Looks like the sizes are pretty consistent across the models..
