Optus Every now and then plan

I am currently on the Optus Every now and then plan as I only use the mobile for emergencies.
Currently the cheapest is $30 per 6 months.
Is there any way that I can reduce this amount or buy a $30 recharge cheaper?
Thank You

  • Switch to Vodafone and go on the 365 day plan then you only have to recharge once a year. You can get 10% off if you buy it at Woolies so it will only cost you $27.

Incidentally if you spend $30 or more you can buy the voucher at Coles or Woolies and get 4c off petrol for a minuscule saving. If you have a Coles-Myer Source credit card you can get a voucher for an additional 4c off a month later.

  • Do I have to change phones?
Do I keep the same number?

    • You don't need to change phones nor number. You can just PORT your number to the new service. This applies for all mobile phone companies (mobile portability).

Also, for other cheap mobile options, take a look at the wiki,

      • Thanks very much for that information.
The Savvytel option looks too good to be true ($20, no expiry, cheap call cost).
Does anybody have any experiance with this?
        It uses the vodaphone network.

        • My dad uses Savvytel because he's not in Australia much and it works fine. I too was also on Savvytel for about 1.5 months about 2-3 years ago. I changed simply because I found a cheaper deal for myself - Virgin Mobile's Bean Counter.

But yes, Savvytel is fine. It does indeed use the Vodafone network and it works fine.

  • try looking at lebara too.

  • If I want the Vodafone option, how do I do it?
Do I buy a $2 starter kit and then purchase $20 from woolies?

  • so weird to see a mac fan to be pov. NO OFFENCE

    • All my apple products were refurbs…..:)
