Metal Music Stand $3 @ Big W (Fairfield NSW)

430

Introducing Lyl, the broden deal-poster.

If you're a musician, you'll know how these music stands are $15-$20 elsewhere. I can't find it on the Big W website, so I think it's just store clearance.

Originally went to big W at 4pm to purchase the yoga mat, but found this instead. I brodened it (my orchestra friends will appreciate it), but made sure to keep 10 so that I could still post it on ozbargain :)

Oh and there's also some $3 bongos that aren't worth $1.

          @OzBargain Bureau:

          Dafuq who are you? lol

        • 'Good' is very subjective

        • @Charybdia:

haha so true! JV… downvoted to the likes of Salim with his (her? :o) curt comments. Or as I have witness from time to time, very highly rated comments.

          Controversial member that one.

Anyone seen these at other BigW stores

and for the record they are Bongos NOT congos by the looks

    • Well this is embarassing……. yeah they are bongos XD

      • Oh and there's also some $3 bongos that aren't worth $1.

It's not worth even at $1 ? weird, am I reading it wrong ?

        • Sorry i meant that they were really poor quality bongos that I wouldn't pay a cent for.

        • @lyl: Righto.

  • +1

They're $3 for a reason - you get what you pay for.

It really is worth shelling out for a $15 for a decent stand in order to avoid:
-the stand falling over after a light tap
-the stand getting blown over by a light breeze
-not being able to put more than one book on it at a time
-not being able to flip a page without the thing falling down
-having the height adjustment knob threads strip

A budget good stand will give you much less of a headache than five of these things will.

    • The collapsable ones really are to be avoided at all costs.

      • Yeah all collapsible stands are poor quality, but I'm in a school orchestra which requires collapsible stands for camps/tours, as we can barely fit our instruments into the bus.

    • You mean $30-$40 budget stands.

I've used many $15 stands, and they were always the poor quality that you described (but they were small and fit in my backpack, which is nice). I assume the big W ones were also around the $15 mark originally.

Nothing beats the heavy duty $40 stands - especially as a woodwind player.

Though - was referring to these which hold their ground much better for $15 compared to the ones at Big W haha. Without a doubt, not as portable as to be able to fit in a backpack, but nevertheless much sturdier.

        • You wouldn't want to break wind and blow the stand over

If you enjoy your stand flopping over and your music falling off the other side, then definitely grab this deal

    Introducing Lyl, the broden deal-poster

Not a broden worthy deal but still a decent deal. :)

    • no i meant that i broden'd it, but was still considerate enough to leave the quantity required to post on ozbargain XD

      • +1

Yeah I know that, just saying that many people wouldn't regard this a broden worthy deal. Good find anyway.
