Dendy Direct are continuing their rental prices offer for select new-release movies, this week it's The Martian. You can buy the movie to keep in SD or HD at rental prices.

No set expiry on this offer - but past films have only been available at these prices for a short while - perhaps a week at most.

By contrast the film is $19.99 for HD on iTunes, where it's not yet available to rent.

Update from Dendy (from comment below): "It's Dendy here and we just wanted to confirm that yes, you can Chromecast from our store and it is in fact a Stream AND Download file."

    If you are a fan after watching the movie, I highly recommend you to read the book. There are a few key "sub plots" missing in the movie.

      I highly recommend you to read the book before you watch the movie..
      Heck, listen to the audio book if need be but the book version contains a lot more story enjoyment than the movie

        I read the book first before watching the movie. I think that might have reduced the "awesomeness" of the movie though…

    Then you don't get to "keep" it. When this 'Dendy Direct' service eventually shutsdown, there goes all your purchases. Why do people piss away money on DRM purchases.

      I imagine there are tools out there which allow you to capture the stream and save it as an mp4 or whatever.

      At rental prices, who cares? This is a superior deal to renting, which expires 48 hours after purchase anyway. A good deal is a good deal, even if they're not throwing in the free Ferrari you want with it.

        For me, $6.89 for a rental is not cheap. Far from it. Not in 2015, where's there's Netflix, torrents or heck, even $2 Tuesday rentals at Blockbuster.

    google play just released it, cant rent and is 20 bucks, got heaps of spare funds from google surveys so might wait it out there
