Basketball System

Anyone have any experience with theses?

Major difference between under $300 vs $500+? All i can tell apart from design is the base capacity (100L vs 150L approx ) and ease height adjustment

Only want it for playing horse / 21 in the yard - no jam contests

Major difference is the ability to dunk on the higher end systems, as well as the overall structure of the system that sees different stability levels. What I've found is that the cheaper systems will have significant movement in the backboard when a shot is put up and hits the backboard or bricks the rim, where the more expensive ones will not move at all. Another difference is the difference in their backboards - plastic vs acrylic. The plastic backboards will tend to be smaller.

    • Thanks mate, are the cheaper ones in the link ok just for shots though? Or are they junk in your opinion? Cheers

      • Yeah they're fine if you're just wanting to play for fun. I used to have one of these until the wind blew it down hahaha, but that was a good 5 years+ worth of use. If you're looking for a serious hoop for like 2v2, 3v3 etc, then I'd definitely recommend the higher tier systems.

        • Cheers mate, can you link to what model you got?

  • I've had one of the cheap ones in the drive for years (think I got it for $150 on special) and it is great for messing around with, and has also survived some pretty full on storms. As mentioned above the problem is that the flexible backboard and ring have some give in them, so don't have the same rebound as playing on a real court with a fully rigid board and ring, if that is what you are practising for. I would guess any system on a pole would have this problem to some extent.
