Some network bands not supported. It also doesn't do 700mhz 4GX.

The Aussie G3 D855K model does the following network bands

3G HSDPA: 850, 900, 2100 MHz (all three 3G bands available for Australians)
    4G LTE: 700, 1800, 2100, 2600 MHz (all four 4G bands used)

The LG G3 D850 for American Telecoms (AT&T) does the following bands

3G HSDPA 850 / 1900 / 2100 (the 1900mhz band is not used in Australia, and is missing the much needed 850mhz band for Voda / Telstra users)
    4G LTE: 1(2100), 2(1900), 3(1800), 4(1700/2100), 5(850), 7(2600), 17(700), 29(700) - only the bands highlighted in bold are compatible with Aussie networks

The phone may work in Australia but you will probably get crappy reception, depending on where you live and which telco you're with.

    • but that means it's only missing 700 MHz and has the other 3 right? 3/4 doesn't sound bad to save 90 dollars XD

      • lower frequencies are preferred for longer distance. without the 700Mhz you might get poor or no coverage where 700Mhz is used. More likely country side.

    • Does this mean that the US version is more 'world compatible' tan the AUssie one?

      • I don't have the exact information about the Australian model, but all I know is that it's based on the European version of the device which has the following bands

        Lg model number D855
        LTE 700 / 800 / 900 / 1800 / 2100 / 2300 / 2600

If I were to buy a grey import LG G3, I think the d855 European model is the best one. Does it support 4gx? Thats a question only LG can answer

  • Alternatives would be OnePlus, Xiaomi, Moto. That said, nobody can match G3 camera. As G3 is almost 2 years old now, Marshmallow would be the last major upgrade. If you are into custom ROM then G3 is definitely a great option.Else G5 will be announced soon then you can keep a close watch on prices of G4.

    • after the marshmallow update will they stop updating the G3??

      • Most likely. Though they will release security updates from time to time, marshmallow will be the last major OS upgrade.
