  • reminds me I still hv 5 bottles bought at $1.99

    • Was that the deal from Autobarn? Those were $1.99 max of 6 per person if I recall, I must have gotten 12 at the time coz I've used more than 6 and still have a few left over. Wow that was a long time ago.

      • It's just 5 months ago, so u used 6 within 5 months???

        Also from Supercheapauto

        • No, the deal I'm thinking of was before I moved house twice, so back in 2013 maybe 2012.

        • I'm talking the one Aug 2015

        • @ccwwayne:

Time flies, 30/05/2011 was the deal I was thinking of. I guess there's been a few more since then :)

Interestingly, those were 350ml bottles. These are smaller.

        • @Click_It:

Interestingly, those 350ml were RRP$7.99. These smaller were RRP$10.50.

        • @ccwwayne:

Yeah… Supercheap doing the sneaky on us.

Well unless these are immediately needed, best to wait for another $1.99 deal :)

  • Do they expire? I have two for ages.

    • Good question, as noted above I have a few remaining from 2011 (4.5 years old). I did notice after about 2-3 years they evaporated slightly as volume has gone down a little, even though they are still sealed (I don't know my science well enough to explain that one). Other than that, I think they're fine.

      • Thanks.

  • Does this make any significant difference to fuel consumption?

    • I actually noticed a minor increase in fuel consumption each time I used mine. But my car is carby not fuel injection so YMMV. Assuming you believe this stuff works (at worst it just burns off and does nothing) then I don't mind this outcome.

Some say the main ingredient is kerosene and other readily obtainable stuff (see DU99's post below). When it's cheap enough I'm happy to try some, crazy paying RRP though. Although I hate E10 in my older model car, I on occasion also use that as a flush, maybe once a year if that and only when I'm going to use the entire tank on that day so its not sitting in there too long.

      • Thanks - good to know. Might just get a couple bottles to test out.

      • How far do you drive in a day to empty the tank?

        • I get about 400km to a tank in my car so I wait for a long trip, or if I'm only going to cover 200km, I'll half fill it. The goal (for me at least) is to end the day with a tank with no ethanol in the tank, flush/fill it with the good stuff before getting home. Ethanol can really do some harm in older cars but in my experience it's less dangerous if you run it through the system quickly, sitting on the stuff is where it does the damage. I'm no expert, but I've not come unstuck yet.

        • @Click_It: Yeah E10 has less energy than regular unleaded petrol, so you don't get more mileage like they were claiming years back. Also ethanol attracts moisture, which is the main problem. Your exhaust system will rust a lot faster, and depending on your fuel system, you may end up with water in your fuel, which is not good for anything. Its why boaties should steer clear of ethanol containing fuels. I think it can also degrade certain types of rubber and rubber seals which may be present in the fuel systems of some older vehicles. Unless you have no other option, I would steer clear of E10.

        • @PCAviator:

I actually meant a slight increase in fuel consumption from using the fuel injector additives (answering cheepo's original question) but yes everything you say about E10 is spot on. Maybe I shouldn't even use it the once-per-year that I do now…

  • +1

cup full of metho does the same or use E10 fuel..

    • Don't think either of those suggestions will work in my diesel.

  • Carburettor car with no catalytic converter … one cup of turps.. beauuuutiful!
Do not do it on other cars.
