Aren't they the same with the ones I got from Chemistwarehouse for $14.99 a few weeks back?

    • Good call. Did you post it? Couldn't find a post.
Feel like I should edit headline but that would be taking credit for your find ¯_(ツ)_/¯

      • to be honest I didnt think it was a great bargain. You can find those batteries on ebay starting from $12-13 shipped if I'm not wrong
P.S. Feel free to use the Chemistwarehouse price if you want, I didn't neg you but I don't think this (or the Chemistwarehouse price)is a bargain anyway

        • Fair call but ebay is no good if your TV remote is flat right now. Also, worked out that Chemist Warehouse don't have the AAA size. Learnt something today though. Thanks GregFiona and Russ!

    Eneloop for life!

  • eneloops are only good for things that run on 1.2v instead of 1.5v, and things you're okay with replacing to recharge frequently.

For e.g. a smart home electricity meter, you would probably want to use lithium AA batteries so you won't have to replace them for a looong time.

Also I'm pretty sure I found these on ebay for $12 including delivery a few days ago, and no I'm not going to look for them again.

    • Almost everything that takes AAs will run down to 1V or lower happily. Otherwise you'd be wasting half the capacity of standard alkaline batteries.

      • yep almost everything! but iirc the original gameboy doesn't play nicely with them. That's the only thing i've come across.

Energizer lithium batteries are actually rated at 1.7V, have a look at the "discharge profile" in the datasheet:
      http://data.energizer.com/PDFs/l91.pdf

While I agree with you about Eneloops, there are rechargeable batteries that run at 1.6V too, their chemistry is nickel-zinc. You don't get as many recharge cycles out of them, and they need a special charger:

I got 2 packs of the Duracell Ultra Lithium 4 x AA batteries for $5.25/pack from this deal at Coles https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/230559 recently, so was pretty happy with that price!
