Searching for Cheap Dumb Mobile Phone for Child

Child is grounded for the next few weeks. I am looking for a very cheap mobile phone (preferably without internet functions) to replace iPhone in the interim. Current sim is Virgin Mobile post-paid plan.

Could someone please recommend something that is on sale, preferably around ~$30?

Thanks

Currently looking at price matching the Optus ZTE mobile http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Optus-ZTE-F286-Pre-Paid-Mobile-Ph…
. Would Optus locked phone work with Virgin Mobile SIM?

  • +2

Why does he need a phone if he's grounded?

    • Guessing to coordinate stuff like after school sport pick up etc.
While most of the benefit of a phone goes to the kid, it is handy to be able to contact them too, from the parent's perspective.

      • Microchip him.

  • Just disable data on the Iphone!

    iPhone 5 (iOS 8.0.2)
    Touch Settings.
    Touch Cellular.
Touch the Data Roaming to change the setting (e.g., from on to off).
Data roaming is now off. Touch Data roaming again to turn it on.
To switch data off completely, touch the Cellular Data.
Data services are now off. Touch Cellular Data again to turn data services on.

    • If I was the kid here I'd be jailbreaking or similar to get my access back.

  • don't leave us hanging - what did your little darling do?
