Also got the email. Doubt membership is required as I've seen this plastered at the local stores.

The local RR near me usually has smaller chickens than coles. They're seasoned differently so which is better quality is going to be a matter of taste.

That's exactly what I was thinking when I read this. Thinking to myself: "How is a chicken the size of a quail and seasoned with chemically tasting horribleness better than Coles or Woolworths?"

  • +1

Wollies now have $7.50 that are equal or bigger then my local RR

  • Never been to Red Rooster before. Are they any good?

If you like chlorine taste on the chicken skin.

      • +4

        Your pool must smell delicious

      • Chlorine? Surely not?

      • Unfortunately I have to agree with you, I don't know what it is but the Red Rooster stores around me (Townsville) have the most chemically and horrible tasting seasoning. Absolutely disgusting.
Used to live in Melbourne and never once thought Red Rooster was anything less than awesome.

Might be a tropics thing. Washing down raw chooks with a solution for hotter weather climates. It IS very obvious. Yet I get downvotes.

        • @SoylentGreen: Yeah I noticed that, bloody ridiculous. Fan boys I guess, FWIW I upvoted you :-)

Like most chicken fast food outlets. I prefer their chickens over Coles and Woolworths.

No membership required, at least 1 store I have seen had a banner outside the store advertising this.

    Remember when KFC roasted chickens?

    • Yeah. I used to cook/prepare them. Never understood why people bought them!

    • Tender roast chicken it was called if I remember correctly. Pretty good! Carlingford had a buffet kfc, were there anyothers?

      • Yep had that here in WA when I was a kid. Food did look dodgy though!

    • My only bout of food poisoning came courtesy of a kfc roasted chook. Good times.

I got this yesterday. Signed up to the royalty program (with a spare email) and also got $5 off. So 2 chooks for $15.

  • Yes it's our big chicken for our great state!
    I'd rather have BIG Rooster!

    • Is big rooster still a thing down south? Pretty tasty chook from memory.

      • Nothin beats Super Rooster

        • Red Rooster took over Big Rooster which was actually tastier

        • @thelastnoob: Neither of those are Super Rooster =)

  • My local Red Roasters went on fire last Sunday. Currently closed :(

in that case being a Red "Roaster" was very appropriate

      • yep that roaster is rooted.

  • Can you freeze these whole?

  • Where is the $5 sides deal mentioned? I can't see it anywhere on the Red Rooster site

    • +1

It was in the member email I got.. so it may be that that part of the promo is members only.

Just left Red Rooster and they had the $5 sides advertised in a poster inside with the 2 chickens deal
