  Might be a good deal but Kathmandu's recommended retail prices are absolutely arbitrary and meaningless.

    Not sure about arbitrary. They seem deliberately and consistently ridiculously high. I don't understand this practice, because it just makes me avoid even walking into this shop.

    And they were fined $NZ30k for misleading sale prices. My rule is never buy from Kathmandu unless it's at least 50% off.

    They also have this disclaimer:

    Higher price may not have been the price immediately before clearance and intermediate price reductions may have occurred. Clearance price may have been available for longer than previous price.
