I wish they could have lettuce know earlier

      • You couldn't leaf it alone, could you..

        • I'm beet after reading all these puns.

        • I'm sorrel cos you are cut up.

  • Thanks for the heads up, sadly I read this after dinner which had spinach leaves from Woolies… fingers crossed it's all ok :(

Guess I'll have to leaf out the salad for tonight's dinner…

Phew, lucky I've only eaten domino's every meal this week. Wouldn't want to get sick from salad.

Packaged salad seems to have a bad reputation when it comes to hygiene.Frankly, when you consider how easy it is to make even a basic salad with a simple dressing I don't really understand the advantage of these. Are they particularly cheap or something?

    • +1

It's the convenience of not having to dry the vegetables. Washing salad is easy. Drying salad properly requires a salad spinner or patience.

You also get the choice of having pre-mixed salad leaves, rather than having to buy a head of lettuce, a bunch of watercress and spinach and having to chop, wash and mix it yourself.

        • You forgot salmonella, listeria, streptococcus, shigella and many other bacteria mixed in for free, so you can use all the sick days you accrued from your employer.

      • I guess if you buy these often you could buy a good quality salad spinner like one of the 'OXO good grips' and save more money in the long-run.

Doesn't matter where I buy the salad from,I always wash them really well before eat them :)

Do you wash it in pine o cleen

      • +2

I can wash it for you to eat, Chúc Mừng Năm Mới :)

  • Seems WA is the only state unaffected by the recall. From the Food Standards recall notice:

    Distribution

Coles, Bi-Lo VIC, NSW, SA, NT & ACT

    Woolworths ACT, VIC, NSW

and trade outlets in NSW, QLD, VIC, SA, NT and ACT.

    • WA eats coal for brekkie, lunch and dinner. Salmonella won't do anything :p

    • Once again, people forget TAS.

      • TAS is irrelevant and not affected, because they have local suppliers.

    I don't like Salmonella. I prefer tuna.

  • It appears some Lite n' Easy customers will be affected as well: http://www.smh.com.au/business/retail/salmonella-outbreak-li…

This is the statement from Lite N' Easy's FB page: Unfortunately the recent lettuce recall initiated by Tripod Farmers (based in Melbourne) will affect some lunches in the Lite n’ Easy menu this week. We are contacting all customers who have received any affected lunches via email and SMS with further instructions.
Customers in WA are NOT affected by the recall as a different, local supplier is used there.
We would like to assure all of our customers that we have taken immediate steps to replace the lettuce supplier in question with a new supplier and that any salad meals in next week’s menu (Week B) will not be effected by the current recall. If you have any questions please call us on 13 15 12 after 8 am Friday morning.

  • I've been eating this crap from Coles every single day for the past year and a half. Is QLD affected? Coles doesn't list QLD, which I find strange. Anyone know where Coles pre-packaged lettuce in QLD is sourced from?
