Witnessed Guy Stealing from School

So i was just taking a dog for a walk when i saw a guy walk into the school down the road with a trolley and a bucket, while i was walking past he started shoveling tanbark which was on the oval into his trolley. Had a good laugh as i went past, but should i do anything about it??

Ring the cops, they can deal with it.

    • Yeah was considering it, but had no phone at the time and not sure where he went with it either unfortunately

    • +4

The cops don't even deal with burglaries.

      lmao

"I just witness some guy stealing a bucket full of tanbark"

"yeah, we'll get right on that * click *

    Contact Crimestoppers.

Are you sure he wasn't the gardener or a volunteer?

    • Definitely wasnt haha, there was a big pile of it on the oval, he walked from across the street with a trolley and some boxes/ buckets in it.
Went back to see where he was going with it but he was gone :(

You are in luck! The x-files have re-opened.

Worthwhile to report to crime stopper and to inform the school, so to prevent it happening again. The guy would not go too far and must live close by, likely will come back again for more.

You may get a good citizen award from the school.

tape it and you tube it

    • That's what I had planned! Even got mums dlsr to record it. Will look out for him tomorrow, I could be the next YouTube sensation. B)

      • The next YouTube sensation…uploading your mum's homemade corns by accident on YouTube would definitely do that! lolz.

    Tell mrs berryfart

You already said you had no phone at the time so you couldn't call the cops and you also have no idea where he went.. so really, what else is there that you can do about now?

There's nothing you can really do.. unless you really want to stake out the place for a whole day hoping he returns…

I'm sure you've got better things to do!

Hahaha yeah, i just emailed the school to let them know, might go in on monday too and let them know.
Ill take the dog for a long walk tomorrow and see what happens.. :P

I'm truly horrified by your attitude bobbified. We can't have people making off with thousands of dollars worth of tanbark whilst poor little neglected orphan children are left suffering.

  • +1 to telling the school and call crime stoppers.

The school may have cctv on some of the buildings and it may be possible to see where he went.

It is probably some cheap arse who is too stingy to pay for his own god damn tanbark.

Also what is with people not carrying their phone with them. Just something I've experienced recently.

    • Yeah, emailed them and will go in and tell them on monday too. Dont think theres much point with cops, unless the school wants me to as the oval + the entrance he used is pretty far away from the buildings, so any cctv (not even sure if there is any) would be pretty useless..
Hahaha, i needed to charge it so i could have it for when i went out tonight, 98% of the time i have it on me.

  • Go back to the school with a trailer and take the rest for yourself. What's good for the goose is good for the gander.

    • Haha :) knowing my luck id be the one to get caught!

It will be fine, it's not like you plastered it all over the internet…..

What his ethnicity? since people like to ask this or describe his appearance

    • +1

      what would be the presumption?
Regardless, it is easy to generalise and then start a new post about difference in ethnicity and crime.

Probably not a good idea to say that.

same old if you have not seen this.

        • LOL, I hadn't seen that one…but it's very reminiscent of a day at work in human services! ;)

back to the school with a trailer and take the rest for yourself. What's good for the goose is good for the gander.

    is accessory before the fact.

    • Oh well, I expect a knock on the door from the boys in blue for encouraging a mass tanbark heist. It's just like oceans 11:)

  • should have called the cops at the time.

They can decide if it's a priority

    • Yeah wish I had my phone on me, think he lives across the road from it though, hope I catch him soon

  • Was it a government school? Maybe it was just a tax deduction and/or refund…He probably kept the receipt for the trolley, shovel and bucket too

    • Yeah public school, haha maybe! you'd think he'd use a wheelbarrow instead of a homemade one of these and a few cardboard boxes.. :P

Terrorist hotline! Alert but not alarmed

  • stop snitching

If you were going to go and confront him, it might have been dangerous if he had a chip on his shoulder.
But then you might have been alright, since you had a dog with you.
But what if your dog's bark was worse than it's bite? You'd be up a tree without a ladder to climb down.

Ok now I'm a real ozbargainer with this terrible post..

    • +1

Yeah my dogs very protective, goes to bite a family member if they pretend to hit me..
      It's a shame she's a little Pomeranian :P

  • Have you ever seen him before?

If the cops rock up right after you walked past he would know it was you for sure.
You never know but he may have a particular set of skills….

    • Hahaha true! Maybe it was just pure luck I didn't have my phone on me at the time?!?

  • Was it good quality tan bark or just random mulch.

Reason I ask is that random mulch from tree clippings are delivered go the school free of charge.

Aborist, gardeners and tree pruning companies need to get rid of tree clippings etc. School's accept it as general much. A win win arrangement.

    • good point and +1 to the aborists et al.
Hope the guy does not think the school has it for free and helps himself.
St Vinnies have the things donated free in the front or the side doors as well. : )
