Cashrewards - Did "Click History" Section Come to The Rescue?

I bought the 5TB one WD drive from this deal on 4 Feb sometime before it was sold out, and using CashRewards.

I still haven't received CashRewards Tracking Email. (Yes, I have taken careful steps necessary, no adblock, etc etc. Just to pre-empt discussion about steps necessary to track successfully. Same steps I have used in the past for successful tracking.)

I know from experience, and from the posts here that CashRewards can be problematic in some cases even when all right steps are taken. And have resigned myself to: "it's a bonus if it tracks, too bad if it doesn't, but don't count on it".

But I have just noticed a new section at CashRewards, which gives me HOPE. The Click History section in CashRewards.

It says:

Welcome to our beta version of click history. This page shows you a complete History Log of all the clicks you have made to our stores whilst being logged into Cashrewards. We need to record each click activity down to the second in order to track your sale with our stores and pay you the right cashback each and every time

I can see the entry which registered my click to ebay Australia, for the purpose of purchasing the drive. Although it is not displaying detailed info like time etc, presumably, CashRewards will have access to those.

So, what do you think?

  • Is this Click History section implemented to facilitate and help us users, (as well as CashRewards obviously) to substantiate our genuine claims, when tracking fails?

  • What is your experience? Did you follow-up when a transaction failed to track (No Tracking email), by showing the Click History they recorded? Did you get a favourable outcome?

  • Is it worthwhile to contact them and follow up, rather than simply giving up on the cashback?

Thanks for your opinions.

TLDR
Will "Click History" help to substantiate genuine claims for cases where it fails to track?

Edit: Tracking email came eventually. Answer to above still unknown.

  • I noticed the Click History section a few days ago when I placed an order for Target.

I've placed two orders with Target since their big clearance started. Both of the orders show in my Click History but I never received any tracking emails from Cash Rewards.

I am very new to Cash Rewards and still attempting to figure out what works and doens't work on our network in regards to tracking cookies and other tracking methodes.

When I was placing the first Target order I also refreshed a couple of the tabs on my web browser and possibly started a new tab while I was still in the middle of the Target order. I later went back to the Cash Rewards site and re-read the instructions of how to successfully place an order. The other browsing may have affected the tracking cookies in this case so I admit I may have casued the first problem of no tracking email from Cash Rewards.

The second time I placed a Target order I didn't do any other browsing and completed the Target order in one tab only. I have no idea why I didn't get a tracking email for this second purchase.

I know it is possible for Cash Rewards to track my purchases as I did a transaction in November with Book Depository and I got a tracking email within an hour of the purchase.

I'd like to know what went wrong just in case I could do things differently in the future. I didn't have any items in my basket at the Target website. I didn't log into the Target website until after I was sent to the Target website from the Cash Rewards website. Occasionally I do large purchases with Target online and it would be nice to get the Cash Rewards bonuses for these future purchases.

I got quite a bit of insight from this post about how things work. Also tips on increasing your chances of success. In particular, comments by scotty here.

So, I can understand why CashRewards sometimes find itself in a difficult position, in the middle of unhappy users and the stores.

But seeing the new beta "Click History", it got me wondering whether Cashrewards is rolling this out to assist substantiation by users when they follow-up on purchases that failed to be tracked (no tracking email).

So both your orders via CashRewards to Target show in Click History, but no tracking email. Similar situation as mine. Well, if Click History is meant for such purposes, then it makes sense to follow-up, since chances of success will be reasonable.

Ponyhearts mentioned this is about the timeframe when tracking seemed to fail more often, and I have the same experience. But not being a frequent online buyer, I don't have that much info. Since I cannot rely on the cashback, I have also bought less when they advertise the deals. Perhaps this is a blessing in disguise :-)

Maybe others, or CashRewards rep might respond, esp re what Click History can be used for.

I've been following that thread so I am aware it is a very complicated and complex business.

Next time I do a Cash Rewards order I will probably start by shutting down my current browser, clearing the cookies, and then starting a new browser and going to the cash rewards site first and then go through to the company I want to buy from.

        • Yes. Good steps to take to increase chances of tracking, certainly.

But I feel that it is increasingly not about what careful steps you take, etc etc. It is increasingly beyond our control - whether it tracks or not.

I received the tracking email of my transaction a few hours ago. The interval from purchase to tracking email is now longer. But glad it finally came! So, good luck, your tracking emails may come in a little while too.

This does restore my confidence somewhat in the tracking … :-)

Still would like to know about the Click History section and can it be referred to if tracking email had not arrived.

  • oops wrong thread.

  • I still haven't received my tracking emails from Target.

I made two purchases with Book Depository last night and got tracking emails for both of them within an hour of the purchase.

    • How long has the Target transactions been? Some do seem to take longer than others.

      • January 31 and February 4.

I've received both orders from Target.

        • That is quite a while ago, esp the first one, which is more than 1.5 weeks. Maybe worth sending them an email just to see - especially since your Click History did record those transactions.

        • @bluesky:

          I sent an enquiry yesterday.

        • @pointscrazy: Good luck, hope you hear back soon.

  • I made purchases this morning through eBay and no emails. Not fussed if it doesn't come through but $12 is better in my pocket.

It normally takes 2-3 days for eBay. They are slower to confirm tracking but faster to pay out.
