[PS4] God of War 3 (Remastered) - $29.95 (Was ~$43) @ AU PSN

80

This is a 2010 game originally launched on PS3. Nice to add to your PS4 collection if you have not played with the PS3 version before.

This has some good reviews on IGN and Gamespot

  • Classic Gof 3, my fav

  • One of the most cinematic, wildest rides of a game I've ever played. Highly recommended.

Much improved graphics? I have the PS3 version, is the PS4 version worth it?
    Haven't played it yet.

    • Nah, you're good. Minor upgrade. They should have upped all three of them to make it a worthwhile purchase.

        Cool. Saved $30. Thanks.

Depends how much you appreciate a remaster I guess. It's quite noticeably a higher resolution but the frame rate is like butter, making the game look and feel amazing. I was more than happy to buy it on PS4 even after previously finishing it on PS3 when it first came out.

@Phreakuency: It's a confusing remaster, is all. The PS3 graphics were already tops, though that frame rate makes a huge difference, but despite that it doesn't fit with any of the other remasters they've done on the Playstation. So many people crossed platforms from the 360 to the PS4, so it makes sense to give people the Uncharted Collection, and Last of Us, as a people who didn't have a PS3 haven't played those. But with God of War, they only remastered 3, so you're missing the first two (and, in my opinion, far superior) games in the series. Thrown into the deep end! How do you know what happened to Gus Kratos to get to where he is in life? And they didn't give it any extra special features or whatnot, which is weird. God of War and God of War II both had loads of special features on the discs even before the remaster, like proper DVD special editions with playable cut levels and making-of docos and other terrific bonus features where every God of War III release has been bare-bones. But what do I know, my marriage dissolved and she took the cat. Lawyers say it'd be expensive to try to get the cat back even after the pricey divorce proceedings, and that I should get a new cat, but I miss Mr Fluffy more than my '59 Morris Minor Coupe

@DrThomas: People keep saying that about the first 2 games but overlooking they were PS2 games. It didn't make much sense to re-release those old games unless they were literally going to remake them imo.

But what do I know (insert my life reads worse than yours) lol.

        • @Phreakuency: I dunno, I played the PS3 re-releases of those two back in about 2011 and they still looked and played very well. Would have been nice to have them there if only to offer a complete collection.

That said, I played GoW 3 then played 1 and 2 and honestly felt I could pick up enough of the story along the way to thoroughly enjoy GoW 3.

          @DrThomas: AAA+ for the cell-mediated/humoral response

Yeah as much as a fan as I am I can't bring myself to buy it. I'll pay $20 for a retail I think eventually.

Funnily enough this is probably the cheapest version of the game available right now. Started it on PS3 a while ago but what with my disc drive (profanity) up I might just grab this for the improved performance and higher resolution Aphrodite titties.

  • We're fightin' for the god of war but what the hell we fightin' for?

  • This is ~$20 on the Canadian PSN store

    • Oz dollar not so strong?

  • 1 AUD dollar is 98 CAD cents, so almost parity. So worth buying on Canadian store if you have an account setup
