Best way to get wireless broadband?

We are moving next week and the place we are going to rent is brand new so most likely won't have phone line connected which means I'll have to pay the $300 connection fee so I'm thinking if canning our current ADSL plan and using wireless broadband.
Virgin does $40 for 12gb but I'm thinking I'll need a little more.
Our current ADSL plan is an old Telstra $80 plan with 500gb so data was never an issue. At most I've used 100gb but think I can easily go below 50gb.
I do have FOXTEL go on my iPad so also wanted to know if Telstra wireless is free for this like the ADSL. I don't use the Foxtel much at all, it's from my parents plan.
If I just used the $10 specials we see for mobiles that have between 3gb and 5gb will this work in a wireless router or must they be in a phone?

    • This isn't wireless and OP will still need a physical phone line (even for naked) so have to pay $300

  • Optus has a $70 50gb 4G internet plan… Otherwise belong can normally connect the home line for free for you if you still want adsl

      • Vivid is an option. It's owned by Optus and uses an older proprietary network rather than their 4G. They do offer an unlimited plan which is unique for wireless but I've heard heaps of reports of congestion and unusable speeds. I'd be wary of them unless your main internet purpose is downloading bulk file in off peak times

        • Yeah i've heard much similar reports of the quality, the only exception I knew this one guy that was getting 40 down with it, then it was suddenly not available in the area anymore.

      • I'm on Goldcoast so that's not going to work.

    • The Optus deal looks pretty good.
I'm currently with Amaysim on my mobile so I might take a drive to the rental and do a speed test.

  • Already bought & will just merge couple of these= 23.80 $80 total for calls/<52gb 4Gon 365 days long life service. Good metro signal here.

    • Not sure what you are actually doing with those 2 links.
Can you explain in detail please?

    • 2nd link is the more pertinent, if you' re in the market for inexpensive wireless?
$3 for 2GB internet that i purchase from cheap prepaid balance. (eg $12 sim)
365 days looks a bit of a hidden plan: get call centre to activate.

As far as I know Optus still penalise you for tethering (phone to PC), opposite to Vodafone that appears to not make reference to this.
