What happens after it expires? Do we/can we swap to their normal SIM only plans?

    • sim doesnt expire.
the offer (4gb bonus) expires if you activate after 31 may 2015

am not sure what you are referring to

      • probably means what happens after 28 days…

It's prepaid, so subscribers would lose calls and data unless they paid for another month of vodafone at the going rate

        • Yep that's what Im asking, can I switch over to their SIM Only Post Paid plans.

        • yep, on the 29th day you just fork over some cash to voda and go again… or port out ;)

        • +1

          @battler:
          just remember with prepaid
its 28 days not a full month

          365/28= 13.03
so you effectively paying 13 time a year…what you pay depends on what specials you pick up
so buy bulk on discount when you can

        • +5

28 days expiry is a scam. It should be on a per month basis. Recommend joining virgin for $40 unlimited 10gb month to month. 2 days left to join.

        • @humdingaling:

Optus and Telstra also define one month as having 28 days.

        • @dorian_gray:

Optus has now introduced 30 and 28 day plans. The 30 day plans have less allowances than the 28 day plans.

        • 365/28= 13.03
so you effectively paying 13 time a year…what you pay

i was wondering is it the same for those postplan with mobile(iphone-s5/s5/note…ect)?

        • +3

          @lvan:

Yet again "scam" being thrown around too casually.
I know what you're trying to say, but it's really not a scam. It's clear that it's 28 days. It's not like they're telling you it's a monthly one, only to give you 1-3 days less (depending on month).

And, in addition, at this price I would hardly call it a scam. Bloody good price I would say. I almost feel like we're scamming them lol.

        • @lvan: Damn, wished I saw that before picking the 11GB $40 Boost one, as it's mainly for weekends.

        • @dorian_gray: Also Vodafone pre paid plans … 28 days.

      • So it's already expired? 2015 was last year :)

        • The offers over and above the minimum allowances may have lapsed, but not the SIM card itself.

      • sim doesnt expire.

that's only thing i really cared about…needed couple of voda starter pack so i can keep the number for rest of the year..

  • Rep. Could this go into Vodafone portable wifi device for data only?

    • +1

yah iv used at home. works fine in wifi device

      • I imagine in either a 3G or 4G device? Just that we have both as spares now. We converted to nbn at home now (100GB for $45 with Belong), but 8GB would certainly be handy for travelling.

Ps. Re selected countries. Is Samoa included in the selected countries? (A list rather than a map would have been better from Vodafone).

Also, is the 8GB good for calling from selected countries?

        • Found "View Selected Countries" under the map on link. Answer to my second question; No, calls to Samoa is not included.

  • How long do these take to arrive approximately?

    • +1

It took ages for me. Once emailed, replied that we expect late delivery!

  • Thanks for the pm re: delivery

  • so is this just a starter pack or can i buy a bunch of them and use them to 'recharge' my initial subscription?

    • +1

cant use as r/c. its like buying a printer at special that comes with the ink. when you run out ink, you need to buy it or just buy a new printer, if you know what i mean

      • +3

sorry its a shit example. but i hope you get it.

        • I don't get it

        • +9

Dude you need to polish up on your store rep etiquette?

        • +1

          @Bluewhisky:
lol wait why?? He admitted it was a crap example and didn't "fight" the neg as some would.

        • @illumination:
          'shit', poor grammar, too impersonal

    • You can't use these as recharges. You must port out of Vodafone then port back in to use subsequent starter packs.

    • Vodafone can transfer credit from one SIM to another at a reps discretion if that SIM is being deactivated. There wouldn't be any recharge bonus associated with that.

  • +1

    8 GB for $12
    Not bad
Word on the street is the Vodafone network isn't too bad these days.

    • +3

What street are you walking on?

  • Does the "international minutes" include international mobiles or just land lines?

    • mobiles

    • +1

      Both.

    • +1

Not all countries are included though. I learnt that the hard way on my similar postpaid plan.

  • +4

Vodafone the best in my area craps all over telstra and optus. No dropouts as the two aforementioned have and with no expiry on the sims-whooompa!

    • +1

agree, but sshh, don't tell everyone else.

    • +1

Same here. Optus is poor over here….

  • Does it include mobile phone calls to the Philippines?

  • +1
  • tempting. but is says "No expiry" and then it says "credit lasts for 28 days once sim is activated". what's that mean? tnx

    • +2

Means there's no expiry on activating the sim. Once it is activated however, you have 28 days before it runs out.

    • +1

The inactivate sim card has no expiry. Upon activation, your credit will last 28 days.

  • can these be used for the NZ roaming? or is that post paid only?

    • +1

      Post paid only.

  • Rep,Delivery times? Post code 3040.

  • +2

$1.5 a gigabyte/unli oz. decent ratio. Arrived in 1 week by standard post last time.
+46c per GB - reward for VoIP users switched on $40*365 Day [$3] dataday.

  • So does this mean I get the full package 8GB + the rest for eff. $12 a month until I cancel ?

    • these are a fairly discrete package by intention; n/a recurring billing no.

  • $15 shipping cost to Sydney? Kill this deal.

    • +1

      free postage as in title

      • Thanks.I didn't notice is "Shipped".

  • I bought the same deal $12.40 last month…will wait for further drop in next month :P

    • Ok. Thanks for letting us know.

  • Hi Rep, what should I put on 'Company ID' and 'Tax ID' if I don't have one?

    • +2

Can't you leave those fields blank?

      • Yes. Or, be adventurous and leave it blank and see if it works.

        • Yes it works without that information.

  • i need to stack these…what's the sims expire date? i heard that with vodafone starter pack doesn't have expire date.

    • +1

You can't stack these. You must port out of Vodafone then port back in to use subsequent starter packs.

      • im aware of that and want to correct myself buying bulk of these…got bunch of optus pack and need voda starter kit to keep my phone number. port out-port in like Ozbargain way…

  • Awesome deal!!

  • Nice.. thx

  • Is it available in store or is it just online?

  • +1

    ordered two, thanks

  • Wait, how long do I have to use up the 8 gigs? 28 days from activation?

  • If memory serves it was voda who pioneered the lunar month. If you desire to get 13 cycles then have them change this over to long life. ( 26-4Gb)

    • You could also call it the feminine month…

  • Are Voda willing to activate these on the cap plan?

  • -2

    No secure checkout. No deal.

    • +2

      What's wrong with PayPal?

    • Well before paypal you enter pretty generic information, the same you would probably provide to any random competition on here. Whether its https I hardly care.

      • And there are always prepaid credit cards for those concerned with any security issue.

  • Can I do port-in to vodafone from amaysim and keep my existing number with this one?

    • Yes. Porting between any career to any other is allowed in Australia.

  • Is there an end date to this offer or whenever sold out?

  • When you activate SIM do you have to give credit card details? And when the 28 days expires do you activate new SIM and port number?

    Is that right?

  • do u need to enter credit card details for activation?

    • I think you could get away with a top up code that you can buy (cash) from supermarkets etc. Or do as I have done and use a prepaid credit card.

      Store Rep (eroorfree): confirm please?

    • See in the headline how it said '$40 Sim,' '8GB,' '90min' .. these were signs that it's not a Sim of the $2 variety otherwise requiring recharge or credentials for postpaid. You don't even give Phonebot your credentials thanks to processed PayPal payment, and viz a viz Vodafone= no commitment.

  • What happens after the 28 days? would my number be disconnected? I am planning a trip overseas so dont want to top up the prepaid card till I come back a few weeks later, having said that I still want to have a number while away.

    • Sim will take one year to be deactivated from last top up (or initual activation).

  • Since htis is prepaid can i assume no lock in contract? i.e. can I use and dispose.. 8gb for $12 is fantastic..

    • +1

      correct

  • Ordered 4 pack to cover this year, thinking of getting few more of Voda to cover next year…Port to Voda on March and April Port back in with Optus.

    • True OzBargain style!

  • FYI This deal hasn't expired…

  • Still going.

  • +1

It arrived today, on the skip cover it says 3GB, but the inside says 2GB?

    • +1

      How long did it take?

      • +1

I'd say I bought it on the 9th when the deal was posted, opened the mail on the weekend, so it would have came by Friday 12th. Same week, unlike Boost delivery rejected.

    • +1

Got mine today too. it says 3GB/2GB as per yours anastasia, but I get 8GB and $40 credit when activated.

Thanks Phonebot, the four of these will get me through until FTTN NBN is installed.

      • +1

        awesome!
