  • +2

    Can't activate on PAYG anymore

    • +1

Will check with @tonester if there is a workaround. Thanks.

      • +1

You can possibly still activate on a chapear weeks plan and rest of the balance can be used as PayG

          • +1

@tonester: I added as credit yesterday. Updated post as not sure about pay as you go.

          • +3

@tonester: @jackofspade @Oh Daddy I can confirm this SIM can activate as "As You Go" for one year with $30 credit.

Under "Load More" when you "Enter your new SIM number" on a PC. Didn't show up on the phone.

I also rang amaysim who confirmed "As You Go" is still available.

            • @trixieb: This is their response last month

We understand that you're trying to activate a Starter Pack with PAYG plan.
amaysim doesn’t support Pay As You Go plans on starter pack SIMs.
To access the Pay As You Go plan, you’ll need to sign up for a new SIM online through our website.

              • @jackofspade: Unfortunately that seems to be a mistake. "As You Go" is still available to activate on their website with this SIM.

              • +3

@jackofspade: Tested today and was able to activate this amaysim as Pay As You Go with $30 credit and 1 year expiry.

                • @trixieb: I still don't have the PAYG option on a desktop browser.
Bought the SIM pack back in May.
                  https://files.ozbargain.com.au/upload/24137/124564/screensho…

                  • +3

@jackofspade: It's odd the "As You Go" option seems to have disappeared now. It was the last option on the list on a PC.

Amaysim customer service can swap over for you to PAYG with $30 credit and 1 year expiry. You would need to activate the SIM first and then contact them to manually swap over. I had confirmed with customer service.

I haven't used live chat with amaysim. Usually call them on 1300 808 300 to speak to customer service. I couldn't work out the 567 number as it didn't put me through to a human.

                    Will update the post again.

                    • +1

@trixieb: i just activated with cheapest plan since it doesnt have PAYG…gonna try to call them tomorrow

                    • @trixieb: Oh so just activate sim and then contact customer service to use payg $30 credit to pay towards the $60 talk and text?

                      • +2

@ATTS: @ronnknee @apokalypsez @Fobsessive Buy this $30 SIM for $10, activate and then call customer service to change to $30 credit for 1 year PAYG. There is no mention of $60, other payment or refund.

You can call customer service first before activating. They will wait for you to activate and change for you to $30 PAYG.

                        • @trixieb: "You can call customer service first before activating and they will also wait for you to activate and change for you to $30 PAYG."

my part is already activated and gonna do that next time for any new sims card have them activate and on PAYG aswell.

                          • @apokalypsez: It's either as mentioned in the first line. You can still call them after activating to change to PAYG. That is another option if you don't want to activate first.

                        • @trixieb: Thanks, would that also work for the $50 sim for $18?

oh when you said "no mention of $60, other payment or refund"

                          does that mean i cant do $18 + $10 and get $60 T&T?

meaning that it would only be $50 of credit as a PAYG?

                          • +1

@ATTS: I have only done for this post and specific SIM. Best to contact amaysim as I didn't check the other SIM cards.

That's why I didn't mention $60, refund or other payment as I didn't do that. That was stated by other commenters.

                            • @trixieb: Thanks, maybe thats why there was so many starter packs left in store

                            • @trixieb: If you activate the SIM card first as a normal 28 day plan, can you still ask them to cancel and transfer the credit to the main number?

Asking because I'm currently overseas. I have the physical SIM card that's not yet activated but I don't have the activation receipt.

                              • +1

@ronnknee: Unfortunately no. I rang amaysim twice and spoke to 2 different agents. They were not willing to transfer the credit or port out of the new number and bring the credit across to your main number.

                                Enjoy your trip.

            • @trixieb: So does this basically add $30 credit to your account so that your existing service can just deduct from the balance?

              • @ronnknee: as above trixieb said..it worked. if any money take out then it refund to the bank

          • @tonester: "email photo of store activation receipt and sim card number to validate@amaysim.com.au, for which a reference number will be returned, then via phone or online chat, quote it when requesting starter pack value to be added as credit"

does this mean you activate as 28 days first? then email the photo of activation receipt?

  • Is this any good for porting out, think that’s what it’s called, well been using boost for years and both myself and wife boost are about to expire.

So how does this work obviously want to port out our numbers and then get a deal on boost and port back in a bit clueless as never done before.

    • +4

Yes you can sim slut to this for 28 days easily.

Don't forget to turn off auto recharge once your account is set up.

      • I don’t believe I need to do this it expires on a date and you need to recharge to continue which I don’t do as it’s expensive boost now, I will have to grab a deal and then obviously get maybe this deal on here and jump back into boost again

        • +1

I can confirm this amaysim SIM will auto-renew unless you turn it off. I have just activated this SIM and had to turn it off to prevent an auto-renewal. A valid payment card is required in the amaysim account. Many of the SIM cards do auto-renew except for Boost and Telstra SIM cards.

      • Do i really need to spend $10 to do this or get $2 sim? Actually how is Amaysim these days? Who do they use again is it optus not sure how they are these days if so.
Maybe I best stick with boost.

        • +1

You can use $2 Telstra SIM between the Boost SIMs as per my previous comment here. $2 amaysim is not recommended as it seems to require a recharge.

It depends on your location as to whether amaysim (Optus) will work or not.

          • @trixieb: I have never had issues anywhere with boost and can’t remember using optus was Vodafone fifo and it was crap but that was very long time ago, I did go on map in my area and comes up ok

          • @trixieb: Yes both myself and wife boost runs out mid Oct

            • @bwatt72: In some locations in metro Perth, I was only able to use Telstra and Boost. Vodafail and Amaysim didn't work.

I checked with the locals in that suburb and they said only Telstra works. With remote WA, it's Telstra/Boost too.

As you know Boost works well for you, then stick with Boost.

              • @trixieb: So there be no point in this amaysim deal then if no good or poor reception? It’s only just to jump back to boost or you got any recommendations?

                • +1

@bwatt72: Telstra and Boost operate separately. You can port out of Boost (with your existing number) into Telstra, then port out of Telstra back into the new Boost SIM.

If you haven't found the Boost SIM yet, Coles has Telstra 28-day SIM 45GB currently for $13 (was $39). Offer ends on Tues 30th Sep and is great value. It is advertised in the current catalogue. You can port out of Boost into this Telstra SIM, use for 28 days, then port back into Boost.

If you have the new Boost SIM, then buy the $2 Telstra SIM that I had mentioned earlier. I had written the steps of porting out of Boost in my previous Boost post here. You do not need to recharge the $2 Telstra SIM. It's for porting in and out of Boost and can be done within an hour from what I heard.

No need to buy this amaysim. Use Telstra instead.

                  • @trixieb: Sorry it’s late bit confused.
Currently still on boost myself and wife till mid Oct.
Don’t own a new boost plan yet even though there has been a few on here so once we do that’s first step to get that.

I maybe have to read through your comment as little tired at moment, obviously it’s probably a little early to port or maybe not.

I just need to get my head around what I need to do

                    • +1

@bwatt72: Buy the new Boost SIM and use Telstra SIM (either 28-day or $2) for porting out and into Boost as mentioned above.

          • +1

@trixieb: Agree $10 special is the best as it comes with credit for 28 days. You can delay your port back to Boost as an example and it looks like you are a new customer and pretend to be with amaysim as well. Taking advantage of new starter pack offer

  • +1

It has been a while since amaysim 50GB SIM is discounted to $10

    Previous offer in May.

    August :)

    • Thanks. Missed it lol

      Updated post.

    • +1

IIRC Officeworks had it for $10 until yesterday.

      • And I bought one from Coles for $10 on 21 Sep.

  • Does anyone know if you can use everyday rewards credit to buy a sim pack?

    • +2

seems so, especially given that one can use woolworths/wish gift cards

      • Great, I'll give it a go, thanks

      • +1

Did not work. It's treated as buying a giftcard and got stuck on "Activating", even took the $10 everyday credit.

I had to get the manager to refund me $10 off my shop at the customer service counter.

        • +2

But the SIM pack was successfully activated in my case. After a restart, it printed out the duplicate receipt and activation slip. You can view the receipt in App as well. I bet you didn't take the freebie home.

Buy it at a manned checkout next time.

          • @Neoika: Damn, that's good to know and yes I left the freebe there!

            • @ozilicious: EDR$ can be converted to eGC now so that the issue can be avoided. Check my recent comment.

              • @Neoika: Whoa, how do you convert EDR credit to giftcard?
Did you use a giftcard or credit to buy the SIM?

                • +4

@ozilicious: I cannot answer the second question, but I can answer the first question.

Everyday Rewards recently launched their Everyday Gifting store on the Everyday Rewards website, which allows you to purchase a range of gift cards using Everyday Rewards Dollars, a payment card linked to your Everyday Rewards app or PayPal. If your Everyday Rewards redemption option is Money Off Shopping and your Everyday Rewards Dollars are not locked away, you will see an option on the payment screen to redeem Everyday Rewards Dollars in multiples of $10 of your choice.

There is currently a long-running deal, which is a way to redeem Everyday Rewards Dollars for a Woolworths Supermarket & BIG W eGift Card at a discount. For example, you can purchase a $30.93 gift card and pay for it using exactly $30 in Everyday Rewards Dollars.

                  • +1

@WookieMonster: Great! I haven't come up with the idea of not paying but getting 3% off. The old trick works.

                  • +1

                    @WookieMonster: Thanks👍 Bookmarked!
Went to pay with up to $70 Rewards Dollars but did not show that option..

                    Came back & re-read
Requires "your Everyday Rewards Dollars are not locked away"
Mine are automatically locked between uses… Shown at top of Home screen.
Unlocked & could buy gift card with Rewards Dollars🎉

                  • @WookieMonster:

not sure about long-running given that it’s only recently been posted, else this info/PSA could deserve it’s own post - thanks for sharing! :)

hopefully they’ll follow FlyBuys and have 10% off selected gift cards promos

        • -1

As you got to the activating stage, that means payment was accepted, the machine just froze when trying to activate which could have happened even if paying with a bank card.

If your payment was not accepted there would have been a different error and it would not have progressed to activation.

  • This'll be handy. Got a Boost port to do.

  • Oh great..my boost runs out tonight lol

Can I get one of these online eSIM somehow tonight for that price please?

    Thanks

    • Unfortunately it's $12 directly from amaysim.

You have to go to Woolworths in-store to get this SIM for $10. The eSIM starter pack version is also $10.

      • Thanks any ideas if reddy express has it on too for sale please

        • Sorry no idea. Price beat at Officeworks if you are near one.

          • @trixieb: Thanks

Are there any good boost deals coming up to port back into after I spend my month with Amaysim please? Lol the current boost deals seem to need to be activated by 6th October.. so that won’t work lol

I need this to be a relaxing easy process as I am not in good health

            • @b4rg: Are you near 7-Eleven? The same amaysim offer is also at 7-Eleven (via the app) that I posted here. You need to download the app and register.

Boost seems to have offers regularly. Hopefully there will be a good one later.

              • @trixieb: I’m looking for your porting out and in etc instructions for later lol

          • @trixieb: They are $10 at reddy too

  • I can’t seem to find the option to turn off auto renewal.. it takes my card details but no option

    Thanks

    • Log in to the amaysim app or website, go to your plan settings (Manage your plan), find the auto-renew option and disable the auto-renew toggle.

If you use TopCashback, there is a Boost 365GB 12-month SIM offer for $245 (after cashback) posted here.

  • from Woolworths catalogue this Offer valid Wed 1 Oct - Tue 7 Oct 2025

    • The end date of offer (Tue 21st Oct) has been confirmed by the Power User @WookieMonster who edited the post.

    • The special ticket I saw in-store yesterday says the deal ends 21 October.

    • actually, as per OP, catalogue’s fine print says til 14/10/25

      • Yes. That was my original date. Edited my post description to match Wookie's finding :)

  • Does anyone know if I can use this currently being on an Optus prepaid plan?
