it will be great if activate as pay as you go for one year with $30 credit.

    • +2

Yes that should work. Best to turn off data on that plan though.

      • mine on "pay as go", can this pack be used as top up?

        • +1

No, you'd need to port out & back.

      • +3

I've never done this before but would this work:

eSim1: amaysim pay-as-you-go 365 days/$30 credit to keep my number and long expiry
eSim2: sim slut every 30 days for data with whatever cheap deal is available

        • +4

Seasoned OzBargainers doing it for years/decade…with variations, https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/16551477/redir

eSim2: sim slut every 30 days for data with whatever cheap deal is available

NO NBN @ home: maybe administrative to enure continuous-access to internet via mobile-data. Must plan-monthly, keep notes, schedule tasks via Calender with reminder etc. Allow 1 or 2 WORKING-days for thing to goes wrong, eg & outlier: your sim-card is NOT recognise by the mobile-carrier & need time to fix.

Dual-sims-mobile: you believe that you've switched your data/call/sms to eSIM2 (churn-sim), but Android-OS is ACTUALLY using data/call/sms from eSIM1: payg charges chew-up your credit fast. Need to monitor & mistake is common.

        • -1

The problem is that Amaysim does so many new customer deals throughout the year that having a number parked there makes you (AFAIK) an existing customer, and therefore ineligible for such deals.

If I am parking a number I would go with Aldi mobile, and SIM slutting with Amaysim every other month or so.

          • +1

@safrane: Nope this is available to everyone, just walk into Woolworths & buy it. Just had a look at previous posts & can't see any that are for new customers only either.

            • -1

@WatchNerd: You can buy it from Woolworths, but to activate the SIM you'll have to provide your name and other details on the Amaysim sign-up page, and obviously Amaysim will know from what you've entered that you have an existing number with them. Short of providing them with faked details, how do you activate the SIM as a new customer? These are essentially $30 top-up vouchers meant only for new sign-ups to Amaysim, it was literally packaged as so in some old stock on the shelves.

Most people don't park numbers they don't need in case of a rainy day, they port-in and out either with their sole number, or their secondary number if they have a dual-SIM phone. I park it because I rolled a desirable number and I want to save it for when I have kids of my own. In this case it's better to park it at a carrier with low on-going costs and few special deals like Aldi Mobile, and just put the SIM card in the cupboard and forget about it until the next year.

The only way I can think of this working is to first port out your parked number on Amaysim to another carrier (doing so scrubs all your account details), Activate the $30 Amaysim starter pack as a new customer, and then port the parked number from the other carrier back into Amaysim.

    • Can I use it when I go overseas just need receive sms

  • If I don’t want the bonus data, when do these SIM cards need to be activated by?

    • +3

The SIM packaging states "Activate SIM within 12 months of purchase."

      • +1

        Thanks @trixieb

  • My 365 day expiring this month, so hopefully we get long expiry deal soon.

    • +1

Someone asked for a deal and got 200GB for $165.
Current offer is $175 for 200GB.

    • I just saw KOGAN MOBILE 365 days 500 GB for $199 on their website.

      • +2

Thanks. Kogan uses the Vodafone network. It may be worth checking if Vodafone will work well. This offer is from amaysim who uses Optus.

In regional areas, Vodafone can access Optus' regional infrastructure now, expanding Vodafone's 4G and 5G coverage.

I'm in metro WA and where I'm located, Optus works better than Vodafone. Telstra is the best for me, then Boost and Optus next.

        • Hi trixieb. I was just responding to @SydBoy looking for a good 365 day plan. I don't know anything about network coverage except that I am in Sydney and Kogan/Vodafone work really well for me. Thanks for your response though. :-)

      • I can only see that it’s $300, where does it say $199 for the 500 GB?

    • +1

got 50% off for loyalty value via chat. only with amaysim for 2renew. worth a try if someone needed
"Hello! Thanks for patiently waiting. We value your loyalty with us. With this one, we offer you to get 50% off on your next renewal as last goodwill. You will only pay $100 to renew the plan. Please note moving forward, we cannot offer same promo to you. Would you like to proceed with this?"

      • on 200 dollar 180gb 365days plan

  • +12

Just want everyone to know you can request a deal via the chat if you're already with Amaysim and can't be bothered changing. I got the 365 day $240 200gb deal for $165. Nothing amazing but a simple message to the chat saved a chunk of change.

    • Well Done @Chicken Man. As I always say, it never hurts to ask.

    • +1

I had 365 day plan that expired 3 weeks ago. About 10 days after expiry they emailed me an offer to renew for $120. Didn't take it up because I already had another emailed offer to renew the 80GB 28 day plan for $7 x3 times

  • +3

I got an EzySim 365 day plan on Vodafone network for $87.50 with a 100GB data allowance. My plan is due to expire in just under a month and I can’t find a plan anywhere near that price so far. Only thing I want is a better network (Optus or Telstra).

    • I have the same EzySim also expiring next month

I picked up a Belong starter pack to last me a couple months. There’s also the Yomojo 50% off offer plus referral credit. There’s also Spacetalk and this amaysim deal.

I plan to churn through these until a long expiry deal comes along

      • Yeah, that's fair. Did you find the coverage for Vodafone a bit rubbish too, or not really? That was the only minor issue, but I don't live on my phone so it didn't inconvenience me too much.

    • How did you get it for $ 87.50? Their website listed this plan (Ultimate 12) as $ 149.

      • +1

it's already expired, the deal was nearly a year ago

      • +1

It was a deal at the time. This one here

  • Hi, I haven’t bought this kind of starter pack before. May I ask, can I purchase multiple packs at once and activate them month by month? I mean, after finishing the first one, port the number to the next sim card. Thanks!

    • Yes you can buy multiple (but take note of the explicit TnCs mentioned above in post). You can't use starter packs to reload subsequent months. The solution given it's a starter pack (and NOT a mobile reload), after the first month you will need to port out your number to another telco and then port back in the subsequent month using your extra Amaysim starter pack

    • +1

No, you can’t. You need to port out and then port in, otherwise your number stays with the same provider and they obviously won’t allow you this trick.

  • +2

I quit Amaysim when they went to a 28 day month. They used to be 30 days. What's next a 20 day month? Shrinkflation at its worst.

    • 7.9% more revenue yes

  • Once purchased, by when do we need to activate by (before the purchase deactivates)

    • +2

The SIM packaging states "Activate SIM within 12 months of purchase."

    • Activate by 31/7/25 if you want the bonus data.

  • I have an iPhone 16 with a Boost SIM card.
I found that at some shopping centres, I am not able to access the internet even though it shows 3 bars.

    MQ Shopping Centre
    Rouse Hill Shopping Centre
    Parramatta Shopping Centre
    Carlingford Court Target

Restarting doesn't work, and switching between 4G and 5G didn't help.

I wonder people with Optus and Voda get the same experience ?

    • -3

Shopping centres do that deliberately, so that you'll use their wifi and they can get your data

  • Don't buy amaysim the voice over WiFi doesn't work on most phones. Both of mine, my mums and sisters it doesn't work

    • Is this a recent change? I can't get this to work on a Boost SIM card recently but has worked before.

Activate by 31/7/25 is for the bonus data. Otherwise the SIM packaging states "Activate SIM within 12 months of purchase."

amaysim may have another bonus data offer when you activate after 31st July.

  • I've been having the same issue with my Motorola at the Coles end of Merrylands stock lands, data barely works regardless of network, then out in the car park or food court is fine. Doesn't happen anywhere else

      • +1

So you can only buy 3 sims (of the same starter pack) which will give you 600 points each (max 1800 points), but it doesn't matter if you buy them in 1 transaction or 3 separate transactions because the limit is 3 per customer?

        Hope that helps.

        • +2

Based on previous EDR SIM offers, that seems correct.
600 points each SIM (max 3 SIM cards per EDR member), either purchased in the same transaction or separately.

          • +4

@trixieb: I bought 3 one week and another 3 the next week and received the bonus points both times. I also have everyday rewards and insurance.

  • I have a 365 day plan with amaysim that's ending in a few days, do I have to port my number out and then back in to get this?

    • +2

Yes, you can use a $2 Telstra SIM to port out into and back to amaysim.

  • Has the packaging changed recently? The one I found in store for $10 was just an Amaysim Sim $30 Starter Pack that doesn't mention 50GB. See photo.

Hope I didn't buy the wrong item?

    • +1

It's the right one, I got the same one today. I found 2 types of different packaging on the shelf, but Woolworths put a promo banner beside them.

    • was that $10.00?

  • Activated one of these yesterday to use the credit to buy an international roaming package. Somehow the credit expired today. Live chat fixed the problem.

Also only received $29 of credit instead of $30. It turns out this was because when I bought the $50 roaming package (on a different SIM) last year, I had $49 of credit and they didn't charge me the $1 to my payment card. So they took the $1 from this newly activated SIM.

  • can i use this for one month and change to a different plan later? thanks

    • +1

Yes, you just get $30 of credit and you are not obliged to buy the 50GB plan (normally it's 32GB and may revert to that after 17 June)

  • No stock in 4 Woolworths I went to 🥲 will they restock?

  • +2

Their Pay As You Go annual charge is higher now - $15 https://www.amaysim.com.au/sim-plans/28-day-sim-plans/as-you… .

    • -1

exactly! I was wondered if you could purchase the $10 vouchers from retailers like 7-Eleven to top up.

      • +2

It's better to buy these discounted starter packs and port in and out when you need a new recharge.

    • are you referring to this expired deal - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/777559?

I just bought this pack for $10 and went PAYG with $30 credit - perfect burner phone.

      • Yes, it's $15 now.

        • +1

Uhh, no, the pack still costs $10.

The new minimum top up of $15 isn't relevant here as you activate the entire $30 credit in one go, and it's still only valid for one year.

You couldn't keep a single $30 pack (purchased for $10) active for 3 years when the minimum top up was $10, and you can't keep it active for 2 years with the $15 minimum.

But thanks for the info anyway.

  • Yes. This offer is still available in Melbourne. Bought one today. Literally $7.00. Just wonder do I have to activate it within June ?

    • +1

The offer expires on 8th July so you can buy more 😂

      2 options:

      • If you're not concerned with the bonus data, the SIM packaging states "Activate SIM within 12 months of purchase". You may get the bonus data that is offered at the time of activation and not the one advertised with this SIM.

      • Activate by 31/7/25 to get the bonus data advertised with this SIM.

  • The eSIM product page link doesn't seem to be working anymore?

Can I transfer a number to the starter Amaysim SIM then convert to an eSIM?

  • amaysim 365 Day Prepaid SIM Starter Pack 200GB $175 + 2000 EDR Points is also available, posted here.

    • 12 of these would be cheaper and give you more than double the data of the 365 day one (and more flexible with dates)… I haven't been able to find 12 though, every store around me went out of stock after the first week

Had to buy some of the $40 packs for $15 (also gets 600 points) instead

      • Wouldn't you need 13, plus the hassle and expense of porting out and back in again after every 28 days?

        • I don't care about the number and I don't need to use it every single day. 11 might be enough actually

  • Hi everyone,
I want a second sim just to be able to recieve calls and texts (ie. Keep the number active, but not use it).
If I buy this deal, is it possible once the data expires to keep the number active for a year, and if so how do I do that?
Alternatively whats the cheapest way to do this?
Ive looked online and most of the options suggested dont exist anymore or are more expensive.

    • +1

In the post description, I wrote "Can activate as pay as you go for one year with $30 credit."

    • +1

      Activate as PAYG with $30

In one year's time, use $10 of the credit to buy the 10GB 7 day plan (if it still exists). I have just done this for one of my SIMs that was expiring and it extended the expiry by another year. So the SIM could possibly last for up to 4 years without adding any more money

      • i assume you havent used the $30 credit - so youre saying that 7 day plan isn't really a 7 day plan? You used $10 of the $30 credit to buy the '7 day' plan but it extended it for 1 year and you'll do the same for next year and the year after ($30 - $10*3 years + first year as PAYG = 4 years)? That's a really cheap way to park a number if it works.

edit - there's also this comment where this dude is referring to amaysim and parking a number for free - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/16487351/redir

        • I had a PAYG SIM that was going to expire in Jan 2025. In June 2024 I bought an international roaming pack, which lasts a year.

By Jan I had not finished using up the roaming allowance, but amaysim told me that if the SIM itself expired then the roaming would also stop working. So I had to top up $10 to stop the SIM itself from expiring. This extended the SIM expiry to Jan 2026.

I've now finished the roaming and don't want to keep the number. But I still had the $10 credit, so 2 weeks ago I used it to buy the 7 day plan. Now my account shows that SIM as expiring in June 2026, so it must have been buying the $10 plan that extended it again - hence my idea in the above post - but I don't know if it will work for 3 years.

(To prevent this problem of the SIM expiring before the roaming, top up to extend the SIM expiry first, and then use the credit to buy roaming, so both will end on the same day. My mistake was to buy the roaming directly.)

Regarding that other comment, that guy has amaysim postpaid, where you don't need to top up but just get a bill for what you used in the past month. You can't get a postpaid service with amaysim any more.

          • +1

            @surfingedge:

must have been buying the $10 plan that extended it again

            +1

I don't know if it will work for 3 years.

it will - any recharge, including using credit, extends sim and credit expiry by 1yr :)

I was in a Woolworths last Tuesday, 17 June, in Victoria. This 50GB was labeled at $15.00, and 600EDR not mentioned at all. Is it a store-to -store individual promotion? Really valid till early July ?

    • +1

@Hayeswei Have you got a photo of the label or tried to scan at the checkout? Woolworths has several Amaysim offers, as posted here. The label may be misplaced and may not advertise the 600 EDR points.

Someone in VIC bought a $15 Amaysim SIM (80GB, reduced from $40, also 600 EDR points) mentioned here.

The offer in this post would still be valid for everyone as per the screenshot. I checked a postcode in Victoria on the Woolworths app. This 50GB SIM (& eSIM) show $10 each for both. The 600 EDR points may show on the screen at the checkout and will also show in your EDR app.

  • -2

Woolworths website is now showing regular prices, so it's safe to say that the deal has expired

    • +1

Have you got a screenshot of the Woolworths website page?

I'm not able to find the Amaysim SIM sold by Woolworths on the website as it's only available to purchase in-store. The Woolworths website shows other sellers selling this SIM for more than $10 but it's not sold by Woolworths.

The offer seems to be still available in-store according to the Woolworths app (choose in-store). It expires on 8th July as per the screenshot in the post.

      • +2

Still available in store, bought one today $10 with 600 EDR points

        • Yes, my bad. I incorrectly assumed that what's shown on Woolworths website matches what's in store.

I went to the shop this morning and got me the $10 eSIM.

          Thanks all!

  • Does anybody know if this can be activated as PAYG? If so, topping up additional $30 would get me their unlimited talk and text for $60 /12 months.

    • +2

Can activate as pay as you go for one year with $30 credit.

      • Sorry, post Saturday night brain syndrome. So ideally my idea should work. Will see. Thanks.

      • Aren't credits pooled at the account level? Wondering if we can activate them as new services but use the left over credits for existing ones.
