$71 off the Vodafone $250 365 day 5G prepaid SIM starter pack for new Vodafone customers.

Not as good a deal as the $100 off deal a few months ago but it can be combined with the Topcashback 15% off Vodafone Prepaid plans making it $152.15.

New Topcashback users can also get referral cashback ($10 for referee, $35 for referrer) bringing the total cost down to $107.15 if referrer and referee are in the same family.

Includes 220GB of data over 12 months (150GB + 70GB Bonus Data).

Vodafone regional coverage has greatly expanded and urban coverage is good.

I've had a better experience on the Vodafone network than on the Telstra network, which was not reliable around major train stations.

Vodafone may well advertise this pack cheaper in a few weeks or months so if you have a price protection credit card, it could be useful here.

Referrer & referee receive $25-$50 credit after referee's 3rd monthly bill.

  • Anyone on Vodafone in Darwin? Still trash? Been a decade since I tried them

    • +1

I’d get a Felix sim for half price to test. Vodafone now have 5G in Darwin so you may be lucky. Optus was pretty good last time I was there (Telstra was best).

    • Was on Felix about a year ago and kept getting blank spots in northern suburbs so dropped them.
City and Palmerston was fine though.

      • Yea I was impressed with Optus to be honest, was better than Telstra in Darwin metro most of the time.

  • +5

I've had a better experience on the Vodafone network than on the Telstra network,

…and Telstra are greedy idiots. (IMHO)

  • Hey, aside from 5g, does Vod have benefits over Kog?

    • +1

Some spectrums that used to be implemented for "4G" network are now in 5G, which means the current 4G service could only be worse, if not the same.

I'd avoid any 4G-only services now unless absolutely sure it is acceptable.

      • OK. I wonder though if people who have crossed to 5G are effectively taking pressure off 4G?

      • I can't even check my email under Telstra 4G here at 1 - 5pm.

Telstra acknowledge the issue..and advised I try Vodafone!

        • Telstra is actually leasing out some of its coverage to Voda, and I’m pretty sure it’s about low-frequency bands to help Voda boost its coverage.

  • Is there a definitive answer for 13, 1300 and 1800 calls on Vodafone network? Has anyone tried?

I’m want to switch, but it’s not very clear.

    • +2

Definitely not clear but I can confirm from my service that it is included, only premium numbers are not.

    • +2

Been with Voda for a few months. Those numbers are definitely included in my 12M sim

    • I went to Vodafone store over the weekend, and the person there said that the charges apply to send & go plans, not prepaid plus.

      Time will tell!

  • +2

Quick reminder that if you were to buy this, you would become a Vodafone user.

    • +3

Yeah I very recently crossed over to the forbidden Voda, going against a few years of bad vibes about the network. But then Optus & Telstra have had their issues….

I am relishing in Vodafone's increased coverage in regional Australia where I live. Using Optus/Voda towers. To date, I couldn't be happier with the coverage and price point. YMMV.

      • I’m too scared to try again after years of horror

  • Do they have a time limit to activate the sim after you bought it?

    • +2

Activate by 11/08/25 for bonus data.

Must activate Vodafone SIM within 365 days of purchase.

    • +1

Keep in mind the cashback terms are for activation within 30 days:
SIMs must be activated within 30 days of purchase and must remain active for at least 90 days after activation to be eligible for cashback.

  • Coles Mobile currently have 140Gb for $149, 365 day expiry. Might be of interest to some who don't need quite as much data.

    • +1

Coles Mobile is Optus 4G only. Don't do that to yourself.

      • 4G is fine for most but there's better value than Coles Mobile.

Amaysim and Lebara regularly run 12 month prepaid plans for $119 at Coles and Woolies with $10-worth of reward points.

  • "Magically Disappearing Towers and Award-Winningly Awful Support!"
Signed up hoping for better coverage — guess those 'extra towers' are part of an invisible network only they can see. Support? More like a live comedy show, minus the laughs. Save yourself the drama and scroll on by!

just be aware with vodafone, their network has gone to crap since joining with optus.. Optus now owns Vodafone towers and vodafone gets to use Optus towers but Vodafone maintains their own core network but i have already seen slow downs. basically the sold their soul and an insider has said its not great.

    • That's a lot of sweeping statements. I guess everyone has their own opinions based on whatever. I just happen to have the opposite opinion based on my personal experience.

      • i was looking for alternatives for the 100+ mobiles i have with Telstra and this is from the horses mouth (TPG). Let me explain what the problem actually is. I know they are trying to fix these things. Things you will notice is good reception. It's more what you don't see. These include missed calls. These include 2fa codes not getting through.

        • Thanks.
Good to know something specific to watch out for is missed calls and texts.

One should read about logical fallacies. This comment is one such example :)

  • I have a current prepaid plan with Voda, can I use this to recharge?

    • Not directly. It's a starter pack for new customers only. You need to be switching from another provider or signing up for a new number.

  • My last voda sim expires on the 14th. Whats the best (cheapest) way for me to port off and port back for this deal?

    • +1

Discussion of cheap interim porting SIM. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/894896

I've never tried the $2 Telstra SIM myself, I look for a $7 to $10 Amaysim or Lebara on special from a supermarket because I get 28 days of mobile service at a good price out of it.

  • Does anyone know if I can switch to esim after activating physical sim? Will I still get cashback? Thanks.
