Amazon e-book: Australia's Most Murderous Prison: Behind the Walls of Goulburn Jail
86% off list price is pretty good for a recent book. It is 90% off if bought through Amazon.com, though there are currency conversion fees etc

This book became infamous for it's rather graphic description of Robert Hughes' (Hey Dad!…) first day at prison. The inmates gave him a rather memorable 'welcoming' ;)

      Prisoners themselves hate ex offenders and they can be very brutal toward these bastards.

      Sex offenders will be put in "protection" unit. 23 hour lock-down a day, and will not be mixed with mainstream prisoners.

      • You mean pedophiles. Rapist and murderers of adult women get on fine in prison.

          Prisoner Support is my job. I come to prison(s) every week. Not like what you think. They might get easier toward the end of their time. But generally speaking, pedophiles and rapists are hated by mainstream prisoners.

          @hluu0111:

          How chivalrous. Bashing and murdering women ok by the prison code though?

  • "The inmates gave him a rather memorable 'welcoming' ;)"

    How any decent human being could endorse violence on an individual is unimaginable. What Robert Hughes did was wrong and he's being punished for it.

    An "eye for an eye" may have been acceptable a few thousand years ago. I'd like to think most of us have moved past it.

      Really you think like that?
      What if a family member of your's gets violated by an animal would you still feel the same way?
      These peoples lives are changed for ever by these beasts but you think serving a few years in Gaol pays for there crimes.

        The do gooders and tree hill ggers are everywhere. Right up until they need the system. Then they campaign to change it.

        • Riigghhhtttt…. Those ggers are everywhere hey?

    • If you call free board and lodge at taxpayers's expense "punishment". Some may be of the view that that the memorable welcome was the real punishment - incarceration merely facilitates it.
