Venom Arcade Stick for PS4/PS3 for $127 (Was $199) @ EB Games

110

For those of you who are looking for a cheap stick with reasonable quality for your Street Fighter V needs.

This stick can be easily modded with genuine Sanwa parts and customizable.

It is currently on sale in EB but IN STORE ONLY.
Most EBs are out of stock, but I got JB to price match and bought one for $127.

Not a bad price for an arcade stick.
I know this is not a Mad Katz TE2 or Hori Pro stick.
But those would cost you around $400 per unit.

So for $127, it is not a bad deal and the quality is not too shabby.
Throw in $100 and you can replace the stick and buttons with Sanwa parts to bring it on par with a MadKatz or Hori.

Plenty of stock in JB if your local EB is out of stock.
Just ask for a price match.

HADOUKEN!!!

No not Sanwa parts, but as I said you can replace the stock ones with Sanwa parts.

  • saw this deal yesterday, good deal, but after reading the street fighter thread in whirlpool, seems like there's a lot of issues in regarding to online play, not to mention the content that's missing. Just be mindful of that

personally im going to wait for a few months, let everything get ironed out and by then hopefully there should be some greater variety of arcade sticks.

    good deal nonetheless

      pretty much this.
I don't know why it's become a trend to release a game half assed and unfinished and be accepted by consumers…

      • +2

Because it costs less and still sells.

Feels like capcom has made this release for the for the etournaments and later to make it into a full version for the normal "people" in May for free?? might aswell made it free to play then charge for the extras.

The game is a disgrace. No arcade mode, no significant single player, no challenge mode, a "story" mode which is complete in under 1 hour (that's for all characters, im serious), and multiplayer that doesnt work. An absolute disgrace.

decent price but these companies are really taking the piss with these things… tempted to just build one myself, rewire an old busted dual shock or something.

  • Does this work on PC?

If you're going to change parts you may as well buy this for half he price

My understanding is street fighter V is compatible with legacy devices. I might be wrong. Apologies if I am.

      • Confusing because this video clearly shows otherwise:

Anyone have one that can comment?

        • In the comments it says only works with mortal combat

      • That thread is over 2 years old and was when the PS4 first came out.
There have been a whole bunch of development since then that has made a few legacy devices work.
Most legacy fighting sticks now work due to Lab Zero's ported driver.
BUT, they will only work if the games developer packages it with their game.

    • You are correct.
Most legacy sticks will work, but you will need a DS4 for each stick if you want to use more than one fighting stick at a time.

Anyone want to buy a dishwasher?

  • Ive got a fridge for sale too if anyones interested.

  • JB from Macquarie shopping centre has a number of venom arcade sticks left. I bought one price matched without any problem. They advertised as "perfectly for SF V", so I assume it works. On the way back to home and going to test it tonight. I hate playing SF V on controllers. My hands getting tired very quick after 10-20 mins play and I felt my hands like chicken feet afterwards.

    • Yes it's fully compatible with the PS4.

It's a licensed product so it will work with the PS4 straight out of the box without having to piggy back off a DS4. So no authentication required.

I tested it out last night and the quality of the stick is not bad at all.
It's 1/3 the price of a soon to be released MadKatz stick but the quality is at least 80% that of a $300-$400 stick.

      • I agree!!! The quality is very good. The stick works straightaway after plugged in PS4. I am not that hardcore so I won't pay more than $127. Seriously, I just couldn't justify 400 bucks for an arcade stick. That price you can buy a PS4 already. My opinion only. Don't judge. I respect and understand hardcore players' passions.

        • Yes for that price, you can't go wrong with this stick.
It does the job quiet competently.

If one day you want to up your game, you can just install Sanwa parts.
The buttons are easy to replace as they are plug and play so no soldering is required.
However, the stick can be a little tricky.
From what I read, you will have to splice in the harness.
But still, even with the mod it will only cost you less than $200.
Definitely better than paying in excess of $350-$400 for a stick.

Don't forget, this is fully compatible with the PS4.
Which means, you'll be able to use it on ANY PS4 games unlike the PS3 ones.
I personally do not recommend buying any PS3 stick just to play SFV.

        • @JajaMinx: thanks for the tips for the Sanwa parts. Much appreciated! It's very exciting to see this stick is compatible to other fighting games on PS4 platform, especially Tekken 7. I am still not used to playing on an arcade stick. It's a little bit of learning curve to me at the moment.

  • Got one price-matched at JB. Thanks OP.

  • Tried here at doncaster westfield victoria, guy at jb contacted eb and was advised no stock and discontinued so won't do a price match =/ gave me a $25 discount though = $174.00

    oh well

    • It's not being discontinued, just out of stock.

      You should try another JB.
Some guys are dicks, but most are happy to do it as long as you can show him/her the web listing.
