Hi, I need to find a laptop for uni -IT. Budget around $1200. Are there any laptops anyone could recommend me.

I'd look for something with an SSD, or consider upgrading the hard drive to one in the asus laptop you linked. Is this a desktop replacement?
What do you want from it? Do you prefer more power (e.g. a quad-core i7), or would you prefer something that's smaller and lighter, perhaps an ultrabook? Saying you need a laptop for uni doesn't really tell us much - what will you be doing with it? Just Word, Excel and reading PDFs, or do you intend to edit videos and play games and run things like MATLAB and R?
I'm a fan of certain brands, like Asus, Sony (Vaio), Apple.
Avoid Dell, Lenovo, HP, in my opinion.
It's all subjective though. And as others have said, it's also about the certain features you need.
My friend recently got an ASUS-UX305F on sale for $1049 (usually 1249). It's not the most powerful machine (Core M, 4GB RAM) but all he needs is to take notes and browse the internet.
I'm currently using the mid-spec XPS 13. Would highly rec it, but even after a student discount it's over $1500.
