Coles - Robert Timms 1kg Espresso Beans - $10.29

190

Quite a decent tasting bean - awesome price, cheaper even than the burnt-floor-scrapings Coles-brand :)

  • "Italian roast" means very dark, burnt flavour to me.

  • Have you checked the expiry on beans. Beans start losing flavour after two weeks from roasting. Maybe cheap, but some things cheap does not equal good

  • Check the 'roasted on date' on the pack if it even exists. You will probably coffee beans are most likely stale (older than 30 days after roasting) and they under extract and bleach the creme when trying to create an express. Stale bean are probably only worth grinding for plunging or peculating.

    • 30 days!? Have you no sense of taste?
I roast my own beans for each cup, and grind them while still warm. Its the only way, or you may as well drink Pablo.
Am currently building a greenhouse to grow my own beans, so I know they are fresh.
But am very jealous of my friend who has just imported his own pet civet cat.

      • Yummmmm, civet poo beans.

      • Obviously you misunderstood. The fresher the better. I don't wait until around day 30 until I grind haha.

  • If you have a standard, everything from Coles/woollies is unacceptable.

Even Illy is way past its prime.

    • don't they claim they seal the can with an inert gas to prevent oxidation
